Missing Event Log Rules
Hi, I installed a new probe (number 12 or so) and added about 80 Windows servers. Adding WMI monitors works fine so Windows Admin account and password are correct. When I try to add Event Log Rules I get Configure Event Log Rules screen with only System field with Netlogon in it, and Directory Service field with some NTDS rules. There are no DNS, Application Rules. Does anyone have an idea. This is the first probe with this kind of problem. This problem is the same for all servers on this probe.
Interface polling
Hi all, Using MSP, for reference. When a server has two or more interfaces, how is the polling done on them? Does a ping request go to each of their ips? Is it possible to permanently assign a second ip to the server for polling so that in case it is unavailable (nic disabled, cable unplugged, ip changed, etc), an alert is generated just for that interface? We will have some customers who only wish to have a few servers monitored, but may have several hundred devices on their network, we don't want OpManager to auto populate the system with all these devices, as manually deleting or un-managing them would be painstaking. Discovery Disallow Criteria Question
Ive got a quick question about the seed.file. In out stores we have different computers that we dont want discovered, and they are always IPs ending in .50, .51., and .52. Im trying to get the discovery part to ignore those but I cant seem to get it to work. Unable to monitor AD part
Hello, I'm finishing to build the pilot for our monitoring project and I added AD monitor part. Opmanager is unable to get any information using AD monitor part. I did the recommandation provided by microsoft wmiadap.exe /f, I'm using an account with Domain Admin rights but still to have N/A for every thing and addtional monitors didn't showed something. capable of processing IPMI SNMP V1 traps
I have a Sun Fire x4100 box which sends IPMI SNMP V1 traps out the ILOM (mtce) ethernet port. Is there a way to process these traps nicely in OpManager? The traps follow the IPMI spec. (PETs) so it is nothing SUN specific.
Difference between MIB browser and received trap

Inventory Report
When I run the inventory report, most devices show up as others or Non-SNMP, even though they have been discovered correctly and when I go to the SNMP Devices section they show up in there. Any ideas?
Unable to open web client in linux
I have installed Opmanager on linux platform {Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 3 (Taroon)}. I am logged in as root and execute StartOpManagerServer.sh file to start the server. Then I execute StartOpManagerClient.sh to start the client. Instead of getting the web client login page(refer to figure 1) I get MapMaker login pop up window (refer to figure 2). Hotfix 6011 and server service response times
Since hotfix 6011 was applied all of our server service response times are consistantly higer. All services are in the 150-300ms range when they were averaging 10-20ms before the hotfix was applied. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Tack directory usage
Hi, Currently, we use "Directory Sizer" (www.franzo.com/dirsizer2/) to track directory usage on our file servers. It is like partition monitoring in OpManager but you can go down several level (configurable) of sub-folder through a web interface and see the evolution, so you can easily find where data has been added or deleted. This product isn't maintained anymore... It would be nice to have a such feature in OpManager Regards, DPE

Question about Run Program piece of Notifications
I have a setup a Notification profile to run a program if memory utilization gets too high on a server. The user guide doesn't seem to say whether the program is run on the monitored machine or on the system running OpManager. I have the command shown as: "c:\windows\batch\RestartLZ.cmd" I know the system has met the criteria to run this program because I have an email notification set for the exact same threshold violation and that is working. Am I doing something totally wrong?
Reasonable time to scan a 255.255.0.0 lan segment
I am new to the product. What is a reasonable time on a 100mb lan network to scan for IP Addresses on a /32 network? Seems to be taking forever, over 6 hours. That doesnt seem right. To be specific I am scanning 10.1.0.0 with is about 64k of addresses, should it take that long. if not what corrective action can I take. Installing SNMP Agent on Linux
Hi I am running the following linux distribution on my machine: Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 3 (Taroon) I have installed OpManager on the same machine and wish to configure SNMP Agent on this machine. Should I download new version of SNMP or not. As per the user guide, the installation of new version of SNMP is required only for versions prior to 8. Is my linux version lower that Linux 8 or higher than Linux 8? Regards

Hi, I am currently using a trial edition of Op Manager 6. I use a VPN to access clients machines and would like to monitor their servers (perhaps 15 in total) as i access them all via the vpm on 192.168.xxx.xxx ip addresses would it be best to install the Op Manager premium edition and monitor them all via the VPN? It may be that in order to minimize VPN bandwidth usage that Op Manager is installed at each location and I just VPN to the Op Manager web server at each location. Any suggestions? Nick

Is not working. We got 10 alarms when our t1 went down. I have checked and its still isnt working. Also, url monitoring on a server that is also being monitered, how come it doesnt have dependency? if i reboot the server, and get a server down, why am i getting url down also!?? thanx..
SNMP Trap Processors - problem
Hi, I usually generate traps from MIBs. But after generating traps I am not able to change SNMP Trap Version for that trap. I think that is should be possible because there are systems which support v1,v2 and v3 version. I have attached MIB and printscreen from OpManager. Could you please take a look into this? After adding my the IP address of my switch to Opmanager, the device and some details showed up. I can get reporting on CPU util, memory util, but nothing else. I would like to have the ability to report on Rx and Tx util as well as Rx and Tx Traffic. Hi All, I am in the process of looking for a WAN monitoring software and I was wondering if I also need to purchase the Netflow Anyalzer to monitor our WAN Our WAN provider owns the equipment and will not let us use the Cisco Netflow. windows service monitors - not able to alert on all of them?
Hi all, I'm am monitoring some services on a server through windows service monitors. For instance I'm monitoring ASP.NET State Service. I also would like to be notified by mail when the service goes down. When looking in my notification profile under windows service monitors, I cannot select this particular service. Help needed with adjusting/modifying graphs
Hi all, I run into a problem which is quite annoying to me.. :( We've some AKCP Environmental SensorProbes hanging around. We've the 2-ports and a 8-port version of these devices, but not all of these devices are fully equiped with sensors in both or all ports. In 3 of the 2-ports devices we've all ports occupied with a sensor that measures both temperature and humidity. In the 8-ports device we've in port 1-4 watersensors and in port 5/6 Temp/hum. OK.. OpManager is locking out my account!
My user account is being locked out about 6 times a day. At first I thought I had a terminal server session somewhere. But eventually after I did an eventcomb on the Domain Controllers, I traced the account lockout to a new server I built to contain only OpManager. Whenever I shut down the OpManager service, my account stops being locked out. I haven't changed my password at all because its set never to expire. Whatever it is its related to Opmanger. I'm at the point of uninstalling OpManager completely

Switch Port Mapper with non router
Hello all! I am trying to use the switch port mapper and do not have a router on a few of my ip ranges. When I attempt to use a machine that is windows 2000 machine running snmp it fails saying it is not a router. I have another tool called SolarWinds that lets me do this with out any issues. Wake On Lan
Hi, I just downloaded OpUtils 4 trial version. I am more interested in wake on lan part more then the rest. when I tried to wake up PCs in other subnets, I get unable to contact after 6 minutes and the DNS name doesn't work outside the Subnet where the software is installed. My question is what ports do I need to open to be able to wake up all PCs and get DNS info on all networked PCs? thanks, Aziz

How does a single OpManager server install scale? What is the maximum recommended number of devices for an installation where we are monitoring approx 10 services, 4 resources, and approx. 10 misc monitors per machine. Also, does OpManager support Syslog?
discovery blocked by antivirus
hello, one of my customer got a bizzare issue, he is using the following antivirus: Trend Micro version 7.3 while this antivirus is on, he cannot discover this PC, but once it is removed , the discovery goes on correctly, i am going to simulate that in my lab, but wanted to know if anyone has alrady come across similar issues...
ERROR# Access is denied.
Where can I find out and also set the account that Opmanager uses to authenticate itself so that we can discover the network as well as if I wanted to search services on a specific server. When I go into a specific server-->Windows Service Monitors-->Add Monitor --> Discover services on this device, that is where I cannot view services. I get an error which says: ERROR# Access is denied. Why does this happen????
