Associate WMI to Windows Servers/Desktops
Hey everyone, I have a question about monitoring Window servers using WMI. I am currently running OpManager on a Linux box, and I cannot get and resource information CPU, Memory, etc. for any of my Windows devices. I have associated a username/password to my servers, but still nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA
Server with "virtual name" creation/discovery prob
I emailed Kevin the details of the issue today, but am guessing today may be his day off. anyone else I can address this to? In Summary - Disovered Device by HOSTNAME (DNS forward and reverse PTR for this name, also forward and reverse PTR for it's virtual name, NSLOOKUP returns the virtual name consistently) - I can't monitor via SNMP or WMI, and in fact the blue star symbol is not showing to indicate SNMP is communicating, but I can confirm via packet sniffer etc., that snmp traffic is going back
URL Monitoring
Another quick question for everyone. I have setup some a URL monitor, and have it pointed to www.yahoo.com for testing. I have noticed that the monitor generally report 300+ ms times, but when I ping www.yahoo.com, the return time is more like 30ms. I am missing something obvious here?? TIA
OpManager stops after sometime and does nothing
Few of OpManager customers have reported that OpManager stops after sometime and does nothing ie user will be able to login to the client but no status polling or data collection will be happenning. We were trying hard to reproduce this issue for the past one week but with less success. But now we were able to reproduce the issue with a database from customer's installation and we are analyzing the root cause of this issue. Once we fix the issue, we will be releasing a patch to resolve them. Kindly
IP tracking, server 2 switch tracking and APC tracking.
Does Service Desk Plus or Opmanager have something to track IP usage? IE server1 has IP 216.158.22.2, 216.157.145.2- 216.157.145.20 IE server2 has IP 216.158.22.3, 216.157.145.21- 216.157.145.40 ect ect. Also another thing that could be helpful is to be able to assign a server to a swtich port on the switchs in our racks. Last but not least is APC tracking, a LOT of people use the APC reboot power switchs. It would be nice to include APC manager in opmanager and be able to assign a server to a port

No data retrieved for interface utilisation
I'm running an eval version of OM, when monitoring a Cisco PIX 525 I sometimes loose the interface util during the day. The CPU util is reported correctly throughout the period. Strangly I loose the RX for the outside int and the TX for the inside! The grpahs tie up with the counters so it just looks as if OM isn't retrieving the interface data completely. I know the values are not zero. I've also attached the CPU graph so you can see there isn't a general SNMP problem. Here is the RX data (TX at

questions regarding Opmanager, Vendor MIB before buy it
Hi, We are busy to test OpManager and we found a very good product. But, there is all the time a "but" :-), maybe my knowledge is not good, we have some questions regarding our product. - MIB SNMP You have some vendor-specific mibs. Nice but how can we integrate this kind of mib for other products?? ( Like Veritas Backup Exec, for example ?? ) - Trap SNMP Same question. We have some Cisco routers which are well discovered but some trap isn't recognize. Just basic TRAP. How can we integrate this easily
Windows service monitoring
I have figured out how to setup monitoring for a custom Windows service through the admin tab. I have been unable to connect monitoring this service to a specific device. I have tried devices both as both a server or desktop
WMI - CPU Utilization Graphs shows much higher than actual
Have a problem on a couple 2000 Exchange servers, with the reported CPU utilization being reported *much* higher than actual. - The graphs are displaying each of the 4, CPU's polling at 98% utilization. - The web interface snapshot is showing a current (and constant) dial display of 98% CPU utilization. - The java interface snapshot shows a correct 1% utilization on the snapshot, but the associated graphs, display an ongoing utilization of 98% for each CPU. - Watching Performance monitor on the server

Managed Firewall Device Cannot be added to a business view
We have 3 managed firewall devices, which we can access in the OpManager Firewalls category. We cannot however add any of these devices to a business view, unless we change them from Firewall to Switch/Router category. We've done this in order to add them to a business view, but as soon as we change them back to a firewall category, they disapear from any applied Business Views. Is this a bug? It would be appropriate for our application here to see these firewall devices in their proper business

How do I change Icons for Predefined/Standard Device Images
I have too many router icons to fit into my business-view If I were able to use smaller icons, I believe they would all fit. I have created smaller versions of the PNG files I need, and can use them with new devices I add, but I cannot find any place to change the icon associated with any given OID.
Device not responding
I monitor numerous remote routers across the entire spectrum on bandwidths. All of my routers which are connected via a 56k or 64k connection are reporting "DOWN" or "NOT RESPONDING" many times a day. However, they are not actually down, I believe OPManager just thinks they are because they take too long to respond. Is OpManager just doing a PING? If so, can I somehow increase the response time allowed?

I'm evaluating OpManager for a possible purchase. We have downloaded and installed the 30day professional version. As I'm setting up my networks I have a few questions that I have not seen answered in the manual. 1. I have DLink switches and they are not automatically being seen by OpManager. after adding a business view they are gone from router view
Routers that have been setup properly and viewed in the infrastructure router view I created a Business view and added those routers to it. Now the infrastructure router view stats I have 31 routers but it only shows 12 I can search to the IP and through the business view and get to the device and it is still in the router grouping. HELP!!

Event Logs
Hi, I want to monitor event logs on my windows 2003 small business server (where opmanger is also installed) but when I have a few options clicked and I want to test it I don't get a alarm of that option. I'm sure that my domain name, login name and password are good. What can be the problem???
Server 2003 Discovery
I was running the auto discovery and none of my MS Server 2003 machines were discovered as a server. They were placed int he desktops grouping. Is there some configuration I need to enable on the server to allow the autodiscovery to work correctly? Thanks

I noticed that snmp enabled printers can notice if the toner is low, out of paper, etc. How would I have a notification email sent if it is out of paper or toner?
OpManager Wish list
Hi, I have a couple of Sun machines with many, many partitions that I am finetuning and I have a lot of trouble checking the threshold that I have set every time that I need to make a change (I have to check all partitions and that means a lot of clicks!). May be a good idea is to have a report to show the monitoring configuration (thersholds, polling time, user accounts used to poll, etc.) for each machine and for an individual machine... Windows XP Pro Firewall
I have a number of laptop users who have XP Pro (SP2) installed on their machines. As they are mobile I need to have their Windows Firewall active so that they can use hotspots, etc whilst out of the office. With the firewall on (and set with defaults) OpManager doesn't appear to be able to see them. What port(s) need to be opened in order for OpManager (& other AdventNet software - ServiceDesk) to see these machines? Thanx

OpManager stops retrieving data
Hi. I have this issue. I have a Sun machine with about 25 partitions that I've being monitoring for several weeks. But with no apparent reason, OpManager stops getting disk utilization information on some partitions and shows NA on graph. If I click on the '30' button to see data for the last 30 days I see data until several days ago and after that, nothing. Error on setting up mail server
We are testing Opmanager at an external site and when I want to send a test message to an address outside of that domain, it gives this error: Invalid Addresses; nested exception is: class javax.mail.SendFailedException: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for (outside email address) If we use an email address that is inside that domain, it works perfectly.

Sorry to bother you again but i've got another last question about this great product. I want to change the type of monitors using Manage engine in Java (resource monitors, traffic monitors, appilcation monitors, etc.) but i can't get set anything if i am using Java client. am i doing something wrong or isn't it possible to do it in Java client??? Hi, i have added a windows 2003 server and i want to monitor disk utilization, free disk space, etc. but i get the message "access denied". My domain, login name and password are good for sure. I am using a WMI based monitor. What is the problem???
