hi i m new to this forum and software as well. i downloaded trial version and trying to check it on a LAN of 8 computers... i need to know -what is community or how to enter its password. i m getting problem with the information section for my own pc (on which OpUtils) is installed.
Graphing tcpRetransSegs
Hi, I'm trying to graph tcpRetransSegs (.1.3.6.1.2.1.6.12.0): - I don't want a graph of the absolute value, since this will always increase. - I don't want it expressed in terms of retransmits-per-second (I think this is what I get when I say .1.3.6.1.2.1.6.12.0/$DELTA_TIME) What I want is to know "the absolute number of tcpRetransSegs in between the current poll and the last one". Monitoring a running applications CPU and/or Memory Util
I will search & re-read the user guide too, but am looking for a fast answer. I am monitoring a service, but rather than monitor response time, I need to monitor the CPU utilization for the application/process that sits behind that service. When it hits 50% or higher usage or a memory utilization threshold I need to send an alert and restart the service. How can I set this up? I've been digging through the OpManager settings, but perhaps I'm not focusing in the right area? Thanks!
Multiple instance custom graph

Shutdown OpManager via ssh connection
How do you shutdown OpManager server if you are ssh into the server? If you run the ./ShutDownOpManager.sh, a graphics box prompts for username and password. My ssh connection fails because the graphics box cannot be generated. Is there a username and password parameter that can be passed to ./ShutDownOpManager.sh to shutdown down the server?
How to trap Brightstor Arc Server Backup r11.5
Any body know how to monitor traps from Brightstor Arcserver Backup r11.5, I add an SNMP alert in Brightstor. If I review the alert log activity, appear and SNMP TRAP send to de opManager server IP But if I review de alert -> Unsolicited Traps in opManager, the BrightStor Aler dosen`t appear. Any solution?? Oputils Rogue Detection
Hello, I am currently evaluating the oputils software and have a couple of questions on the rogue detection. On my basline list I have come up with several hundred devices that are reporting as having a MAC address but are not showing a corresponding IP address. Any thoughts on this as the devices are going to be almost impossible to track down without some more info. Additionally, any chance that in future versions you could add a field to the rogue detection list that would allow a person to enter
Port descriptions on cisco switches
Hi, Is there any way to get the description field for the port in opmanager to actually display the name given on the switch ( we set this to the actual outlet name so we can map outlet to port ). At the moment they are just coming up 'fastethernet 0/1' etc.. thanks.

How to monitor Cisco Pix failover with dedicatet LANFailover
I have the following problem... ..in Opmanger i can monitor two of four interfaces (inside,outside) on my primary Pix. The standby Pix has the same Interfaces (four) and i can monitor the inside and outside Interfaces. But now is coming the problem. Why can i not see the third Interface that is dedicated for Lan-Failover and the fourth Interface is administrative shutdown. Cisco mib and the right way to compile
Dear Support-Team, i am a newbie in SNMP but i read a lot of Cisco guides and now i have an running OpManager=>Cisco Pix and Router Monitoring-Environment. But the problem i have is that the traps from my devices are showing in OID form. I already did an upload from the Mib-Browser with all required Cisco-Mibs in the right compiling dependency. But is the upload equal to compiling? Must i do more steps for compiling and how can i get more text instead of OIDs in my traps I get to many OIDs from my

SMS Provider
Hi there, In the MSP version of OPManager is there a way to do SMS alerting via a web based provider ?. For example, www.bulksms.co.uk allow http submissionthat results in an SMS message. See: http://www.bulksms.co.uk/docs/eapi/submission/send_sms/ We use a small product called IPcheck from Paessler which supports this functionality, is it supported under OpManager ?. Cisco 3750 configuration
I have installed OpManager trial to see if it will fit our needs. I have discovered devices on the network and a lot of them seem ok, but my 3750 does not show any port information as other switches do. I have set a smtp public RO, is there anything else that I need to do? The 3750 is in a stack of two, is this a problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Sebastian
SNMP Question
I am new to this program and I have two ewbie questions. I have set up about 6 servers in Opmanage, they all have the same community string, but one server will not show the dials or pull SNMP data. I also have a server that is pulling SNMP data but i do not get a sys descr. but when i test the Monitors they are working. please help any advice would be helpful
Scheduled report question
I have a scheduled the All Server Disk Usage report to run every night at 2AM and have it sent to my inbox. I would like the report to be sorted by server name as it is when the report is ran from the reports tab. When it is scheduled, the report has no sort order and it makes it troublesome lookup the disk usage on a particular system. What will need to be done to have the scheduled report sort by server name?

Hi there, I have bought and installed the latest version of OpsManager and we are experiencing problems with SNMP + the resource monitors. Basically, I am using net-snmp on linux hosts and opsmanager sometimes shows a dial for cpu/memory/disk usage and others times it doesn't. This happens completely randomly and makes fault finding rather difficult. One host might have all the dials working while another only has one dial working. Wake On LAN by Broadcast first?
Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to change the order that OpUtils 4 performs the WOL (or at least make it an option). Currently when I select a PC to perform WOL, I believe it sends a directed WOL packet first, which does not wake our PCs up, but when it's status becomes "attempting to power upby Broadcast" the PC will power on. (FYI I believe the "upby" may be a typo instead of "up by", but that's what it says). So instead of having to wait 2 minutes before it sends a broadcast WOL

Is it possible to monitor additional events logs such as the DFS Replication log on windows? Can I add it to the default_event_rules.xml file? cheers
Clear a trouble Alarm!
Hi all, I am trying OpManager, and having a problem with the Alarms and Notification: I had set up Notifications for all my alarms, and i have one alarm from a Cisco Catalyst 4500 about some Ports that are down, they are "operationally down", how can i make OpManager ignore this error? I have tryed to unmanage that ports, doesn't solve the problem! Preferely i just want to say: "ok, i know, if something else change notify me!", becouse those ports may be used in th future and i do not like the idea

Server Availability Report:: 7 servers shown as Down
Hello there My Opmanager is ok , except that on the Report section--> All server availability report, among the 40 servers I have, 7 servers are shown with 0 percent uptime for today. i tried for the "past one week report", result is the same. but on the "last one month" report these servers are shown as 60 percent uptime. for the last 2 weeks, these servers are shown as down by the report . and yet , physically all these servers are own and working properly with out giving any trouble. OpManager stops collecting data
Hi, I have installed OpManager 6 from scratch. Windows 2000, SQL 2000 OpManager collected data for the 2 or 3 hours then it stopped. Checked nmserrx.txt file and find out and error that the data was truncated. I modified database_params.conf, wrapper.conf and SetEnv.bat in the way Rex told me some time ago as database connection was getting disconnected and to get through this it was necessary to move to MSSQL JDBC Driver instead of jtds driver. Checked new nmserrx.txt file and found a new error:

Is it possible to create a notification profile that will send an alert whenever a monitor is unable to retreive data from a device ? I'm using a Telnet monitor to check available disk space on a Solaris server & I want to get a notification in case the monitor is unable to execute the telnet command (in case login fails or no response from the telnet deamon)
Update status and Alarms
Hi, I am testing opmanager in my network, and having a trouble: I have set the refresh interval of all devices to 1 minute and when a simulate a link down i do not get an alarm until i manually update the status of the device in the "update status" action. What's wrong? Isn't the update automatic? And one more thing: What is the "Last Polled AT" and "Next Poll At" in a device? Because i always have a few days back, like for example today i have in a device: Last Polled at Out 26,2006 06:15:56 PM
Switch Port Mapper shows availible when it's not
It will show available in green, sometimes it will show a mac address sometimes it won't. But the available port count is always off. Transient ports do it as well, in the screen shot I attached there is 4 Transient ports that show in red and 1 in green, Available show 10, 4 in red and 6 in green.

Hi, I've search all posts about that subject and still have problems. 1st i've the mysql stop at the start and made copy of lib and no more msg of mysql and i startmysql.sh and that is ok. 2nd the Verifying connection with web server ... Partition Detail Resource Monitor query
Hi, One of the Resource Monitors, Partition Details provides the %used of each disk partition on a server. This is very useful to use as we like to keep 20% free on all disks and get an alarm raised when this threshold is broken. However the monitor also includes the same info for physical and virtual memory and we often have less than 20% physical memory available. Is it possible to 'turn off' the information for these two so that we do not get unwanted alarms. regards, Doug
Alarms history and reporting
I would like to have the ability to run reports on all alarms received on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Currently I have the notification profiles to send an alert when a service is down, or a threshold is violated, etc. And another when the alert is cleared, but when I look at all the alarms, it just shows the last alerts received. For example: say I get an alert that CPU utilization is over 80 % at 10:15 am. At 10:30 am I get another one that CPU utilization is back to normal. When I look
Issue with notifications
Opmanager is not sending out notifications when an alert is triggered. I looked at the notifications log and I found why it isn't. "Could not connect to SMTP host: localhost" For some reason Opmanager is trying to use localhost to send out notifications even though it is configured to use our mail server as it's smtp host under Admin - Mail Server Settings. I went back and reconfigured the mail server setting but it is still trying to use localhost. Any ideas on how to fix this. Thanks
Servers not polling
I tried to search the forum for this issue but I couldn't find anything similiar to what I am experiencing. I have a few servers that I have added to monitor. They add properly and I can view them under the "maps" tab. But when I click on the server the dials do not appear and there is no polling data for the server. Debian Install a Nightmare
I have spent forever following the incorrect install manual for debian and trolling through your forums trying to get the damn trial working. So far i've ignored the suggestions to copy the libdb 3.2 file cause it's for redcrap not debian and i've linked the real debian libdb3 file in the /lib folder. Traffic Reports low in detail
My Rx/Tx traffic reports are not as detailed as they were before. On a report generated for today, detail is high, on 7 day Report there is a change in detail from about 4 days ago which detail was high but since detail has been very low. Monitoring levels are set at 1 minute. An example is given below.

OpManager MSP version question
My company has purchased MSP version and few probes. So far the product is great, however i did have questions about rebranding the client piece; 1) Is there a way I can totaly disable web/administration site on a client probe? That way i can have a customer just login directly to our main customer site and generate reports or other tasks. 2) Does the customer really has to download a 49MB file just to install a 5mb probe? 3) Can we rebrand the probe ? so it has our logos maybe our tech support numbers?
