Software Deployment via AD Group Membership
I setup Configurations for the deployment of applications, using Active Directory group memberships of the computers to filter on. When I change the membership of the AD groups, Desktop Central does not pick up this change. I have to go into the Configuration and click Deploy for Desktop Central to re-enumate the changed group membership. I want to be able to add computers to groups, and have Desktop Central automatically pick up the new group membership and install applications accordingly.
MDM local communication with tablet or phone
Hi, If I have android tablets which are always located on the corporate network how can I set them to communicate directly with the local desktop central installation without going to internet since they are connected to the same desktop central lan. Is there a way, cause those I don't want to let them connect to internet. Or what ports (if the above is not applicable) are needed to open on the firewall to communicate with desktop central server other than 8383 because I opened this port only but

Best Practice for Third Party Major Version Upgrades?
What's the best way to do a major version upgrade? For example, I'd like to replacement Adobe Reader 10 with 11. I'd like to do this for all machines that currently have Reader installed, while avoiding installing it on machines that don't have any version of Reader installed. Thanks

Wrong HP warranty after Product code is entered and a warranty scan was initiated
Hi, following issues occured today in Desktop Central (Build 80234): Today a have put in some product codes for some of our HP machines to get the warranty from HP imported. Most of the machines now show the correct warranty expiring date but some machines show a wrong date. When i check the warranty for those machines directly with HP's Warranty Check Website the date is displayed correct, but Dekstop Central is getting a wrong date by the scan. How can this appear? After creating the configuration and deploying it immediately the status change to ready to execute. some devices went to retry to progress but others stayed in first situation. Inventory Summary Never Completes
Recently (before upgrading to the latest build), the inventory summary generation hangs on "Summary generation in progress..." I don't know if this is a related issue or not, but we recently deployed a new version of commercial software (new version number and updated name) but Desktop Central does not recognize the new software on all the systems, only a select few. It still shows the systems having the old version and name-even after scanning the systems individually.

I'm evaluating this product and have hit a bit of a roadblock. First I'll start by saying I do have a support ticket open for this issue but have yet to get a fix/resolution. Unable to add Custom Group in "User Collection"
Hi, I just evaluated Desktop Central, and I find it very helpful. But I do have issues when trying to deploy configurations/templates under the "User Collection". I recently updated Service Desk Plus to build 8203 and the integrated chat function indicates in the read me that it requires Desktop Central Build 80238 for this functionality. The chat icon still appears in the tickets, but gives the error that it requires build 80237 to function. In either case, the latest version of Desktop Central that i can find is build 80234 (http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/service-packs.html) Where can i get the latest build?

Vulnerability scan notification
We are running Desktop Central Build 80234. We have configured the Schedule Vulnerability Update to run every day at 0400 and to e-mail notification to my e-mail address. The e-mail notification works fine. What I would like is to configure the notification to also tell me which patch(s) have been added since the last scan. Physical Memory Report Problems
I configured Desktop Central to show me a report on the physical memory installed on my managed machines. It seems like the report is showing some other interpretation of the actual physical ram installed. For example, if I install 4GB of RAM in a machine, the report will show me anywhere between 2995 and 3070 for 'Physical Memory (MB)' depending on the machine. I would actually like to see the actual amount of RAM that is physically installed. Why is this behaving this way? DC8 > Reports >
New theme (build 80234) is awful
Good day I know it's probably pointless to say this but the new theme which was released with build 80234 is just awful. It looks very bulky and cheap in my opinion. On a more professional note: it does not seem to display properly in Firefox even though the local cache etc. was cleared. failed scans and updates desktop central
I have scheduled my company to perform scan and deploy of patches across three days. I have separated my network into three groups and they scan and deploy on those three days. If the scan fails for a reason like they forgot and shut down their PC or they were out of town what is the best way to handle that? I would like to automate it so if they fail then it should try the next day and if it was updated fine the first time no scan is needed. Is there a way to handle this? Thanks.

I would like to be able to define a patch only for specific machines, while allowing it for others. In SUS this can be done based on group. Is there such a function in DC?
Remotely rename computers
ZENworks Configuration Management has the ability to remotely rename computers. This should be a standard feature of any desktop/server management software. With Desktop Central we have to touch every computer that we want to correct the name on which is very inefficient.

if we set a schedule for updates by groups what happens when an enduser has their PC shut off or if it is laptop and they are out of town?

So except for telling the PC to never sleep by pushing out a GPO is there a way in Desktop Central to wake a PC if it is not awake to be scanned and install updates? I would think this would be great then as soon as it is done it puts the PC back to sleep.

Hello, I was working a few years with ZENworks and are exploring DC right now. What I haven’t found yet is how I would trigger updates from the installed agent on our client computers. I guess my question would be where I can find the documentation for such command line arguments. Especially while testing I am missing things like updatenow / refresh, but getting a full document would be helpful to keep in mind what all is possible. After installing fix 80234 in IE in DC login page there is still message New Hotfix Available
I install new hotfix ver 80234. After installation i restart server with DC. Server is up with DC and work fine. When i log in DC i see that i am in version 80234. But pain in my eye is that message in IE when i try to log in from workstations New hot fix is Available. I clean IE cach and temp files but message is still here. Any idea? Software deployment for Remote Office has stopped deploying a "standard" package
We are running - Desktop Central Server 8.0.2.26 We have a configuration to push the Teamviewer software for a specific "setup" Remote Office. Up until yesterday, this software deployment configuration had been deploying Teamviewer to each and every PC that had DC Agent installed to it. It also would deploy Teamviewer if we moved a PC to the Remote Office. Yesterday, we installed DC on 6 PCs but none of them received Teamviewer and they were powered up all night. Add archive option to configurations
Dear Support, In list of configurations, would it be possible to add an "archive" option? Currently there is "global view" and "my view" - it would be good to have an option to archive them, and then only show what you want to mark as "live configurations". "Archiving" a configuration would have the effect of hiding it from the general global or my view, and have a separate option to view archived configurations. Still retain the ability to copy an archived config to live as a new configuration.

Hi for some reason couldn't find Desktop Central in the list of available forums to post this in so posting in the ServiceDesk Plus one! Is there an easy way to remove pre-loaded software using Desktop Central? for example the Lenovo laptops ship with some Lenovo tools on that we do not want, I know we could use OSDeployer to install an OS excluding all this software but my line manager won't allow me to spend money on that so want to get it working with my existing Desktop Central. Deploy software based on current installations
I want to create target collections based on software. or example, if i want to update java for everyone that has an old version, I can go to inventory > software and search java, but i can't create a collection of PC's based on that. All I can do is export the number of systems that have it. I can click on the individual software then get a list of computer names and export that. Hello, I downloaded the trial version of DesktopCentral 8 in order to try it as a management & support solution in our company. I found it very good, but there is one problem that I can not solve - use MySQL database instead of the default Postgres. My plan is to install the database at the same machine as the DC server. Self Enrollment for MDM
When is it projected for there to be the option of self enrollment? We are wanting to utilize the MDM portion of Desktop Central in our NAC deployment but without the ability for the user to self enroll it is difficult to do so.
