Computer Icons in Desktop Central.
Good Morning, I am having an issue with the agent on two PC's, I believe I may have found the issue, but in order to proceed I will need to know what this icon means.... All of the other PC's have this icon but with a green monitor apposed to yellow. If some one could inform me to what this means it would be very much appreciated. Nick
After updating to Service Pack 1 (9102) times in the UI are shown in GMT
Hello I've updated my server to the new Service Pack 1, and subsequently, find that in the UI, the time is now listed in GMT rather than local time. Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks Sam

I have Updated to Service Pack 1 version 9 ( Build No:91002) and my Distribution Servers haven't updated to the current version. Is this correct?
Service Pack 1 - Upgrade to 90145
Hello! I did the upgrade to 90145 this evening (and said it was successful) but when I go into the web portal, it is telling me that I need to upgrade. When I go to the main screen, it shows that I am still at version 91002. Any ideas? Regards, Charles

Port Number 8020 is already in use - But it isn't!
Hi, Has anybody had the problem when attempting to install Desktop Central 9 when the error message: "Port Number 8020 is already used by some other application. Please specify a different port" I've checked the server and the LAN using netstat and I can't find any other application that is using that port?? I tried selecting a different port but the server never comes online as it errors with one problem after another.. Any advice would be welcomed. Andy
Better column width control
There should be either manual control of the columns or more intelligent control by the software. For example in software inventory the software title is cut short while there is still space left on the screen, smaller fields take up the same space, making it hard to tell similar software apart quickly.
Can the Desktop Central moderator clean up the postings from bbanana?
I see a whole bunch of garbage postings from bbanana that are cluttering the Desktop Central forum. Can the moderator remove the duplicate postings and ask bbanana to quit spamming the forum? Thanks.

Unmanaged Computer Objects - Need Unmanaged Group w/No charge against license total
Hi, I've had to create complex AD synchronization rules to avoid DTC from picking up "name-only computer objects", which represent NAS storage devices, cluster-name objects, instance name objects. It's undesirable to uncheck so many OU's, as that can lead to synchronization problems. So how do you recommend dealing with these objects in order to prevent us from finding our "managed computer" license being reduced by these objects, which we do not, cannot, manage with DTCentral? Unsafe information - latest build
Hi, Reading through the release notes that came with the latest update, I can see the following information :- Desktop Central Agent generation has been enhanced to prevent from being reported as "unsafe" by anti-virus during installation/ upgradation. Can you provide any more information in regards to what it was being reported as and with what anti-virus. I'm interested to know how it was identified and what it was being reported as. Thanks

Windows 7 Stopping Services
Hi, Since deploying the desktop central agent across our desktops we have noticed that our Windows 7 machines now take forever to shutdown because they say "Stopping Services". This doesn't happen on Windows 8 machines or Windows 7 machines that don't have the agent. When the agent is removed, shutdown time is normal. Please advise and assist. Regards
Agent remote installation from Desktop Central 9 (Free) in Workgroup all failing
Here's screenshot: Here's our setup: -15 Workstations -All Windows 8.1 Pro -All Dell laptops -All have file sharing enabled What I've verified: -Disabled Firewall and AV, same fails -Verified workgroup admin credentials work using command prompt -Verified all workstations have our administrator account and password -ManageEngine Service running as Workgroup Admin on Server Ideas? Desktop Central encountered a problem while performing Restore.
I am trying to move my desktop central DB using the instructions in the following article: http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/moving-mssql-database-to-different-location-how-to.html When I get to step 2 of the restore, I keep getting the error 'Internal Application Error. Desktop Central encountered a problem while performing Restore'. I contacted support on March 3rd and still have not received any assistance. ManageEngine support is very poor. Does anyone have any ideas?

Mail Server Settings Office 365 Business Premium with custom domain
I have office365 setup on my domain and I am trying to setup the mail server in Desktop Central but it keeps coming back with the following error: Unable to Establish Connection!. Verify Server Name and Port Number. I have attached the image of my settings which I have verified in my Office 365 account.
Desktop Central computers dropping off domain?
Ever since we installed Desktop Central into our domain, we are getting computers here and there getting this error: "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this work station trust relationship" Has anyone else seen this happen? Is DC causing it, or is it just random coincidence?
Desktop Central is unable to create/upgrade the agent
I'm getting this error in SOC: "Desktop Central is unable to create/upgrade the agent" I already added the folder to the antivirus exception. Earlier today it gave me this error then went away long enough for me to get about half the agents deployed. Now it came back with no changes.
PostgreSQL Version
We use Secunia CSI agent in our environment to scan for EOL and insecure versions of software. The PostgreSQL included with Desktop Central is showing as insecure. How can this be version be patched to the latest release?
9.0.128.W causes R6025 pure virtual function call on Win XP
just as the title says, 9.0.128.W causes R6025 pure virtual function call on Win XP and agent is not functioning. this happens when upgrading and also when a new installation (using SOM page or the msi file itself) happens to Win XP. WIn 7, 8. 8.1, Server 2008r2 and server 2012r2 seem fine.
Identifying computers in SoM
Hello, My problem in displaying all of the computers in my workgroup by desktop central still remains.As you can see in the attached file our network shows nearly 200 PCs ,whereas desktop central can only identify a few. I am absolutely positive that they all belong to on workgroup and have the same user and password. What should I do? I look forward to get answers from you
End of support for Windows XP Service Pack 1 & 2 and Windows Server 2003 SP1

I just installed the latest hotfix ( DC now shows build 90121 ). Do I need to upgrade the agents on workstations as well?
Renaming recently upgraded Desktop Central Server
We are stepping through a Desktop Central migration to a new server. I have all the steps to transition to the new server, but I need to rename it back to the original server, once it is migrated. This is because the DesktopCentral server also runs the ServiceDesk software and I can't change the URLs. Is there any documentation about changing the machine names on a Desktop Central server? Hi, Currently we're using desktop central in our LAN network. Now we also want to use desktop central for our WAN pc's to take remote control of those pc's (like teamviewer for example) Our WAN pc's are moving around the country a lot. For example: on monday they are connected at place X, next day place Y, next day at home, another they at the main office, the lan network. All versions of software title together
Can a search be done that puts all versions of the software title search together? For example if I search for Adobe Reader the output will come back with a line for each version of Adobe Reader. For some searches I might want all these results combined, for example a search for *Reader* would put all the workstations with Adobe Reader together. Ideally this would be under 'Assets' tab so that action could be taken on the results. If that isn't possible is there a pre-existing report that does
Overhead for turning on the user reporting
We are in an AD environment owned by our parent company. They have placed domain controllers in our physical location and all workstations are joined to that domain. I have Desktop Central set up, and agents deployed to the PCs in our organization and would like to utilize the User Logon reports, however Desktop Central does not have the ability to restrict its scanning of AD to our organization's OU. If I was to turn on the User Logon reporting, what does Desktop Central do to get that information?
Calculate amount of data in a particular folder
I am new to Desktop Central - please be kind. I am looking for a way to see how data is in a particular folder. We are considering changing the location of all user's My Documents folder to point to the user's home drive. Before we do we want to get an estimated amount of data that would be copied over. How can I get this information? thank you.
SNMP Trap for Desktop Central
Hi there, We have been noticing some performance issues with DesktopCentral recently. My personal theory is because we are using an instance of MSSQL 2008 on a seperate server, and the amount of data being fed through to the database may be large due to it scanning 700+ systems and that someone on my team may be trying to also generate the reports at the same time that this is occuring. Is there any way I can set an SNMP trap on the Desktop Central server that will report back statical information
Admin account not gone.
I recently deleted the "admin" account from the user admin section. Any it shows that it is gone. (see attached) but I can still login to the site with the admin account as a local user?? Is there any way of getting this t account to go away?
Prohibited Software List
I want to remove a piece of software that was added to the prohibited software list. When I look at the list I am not able to see that software name in the list any where. Where would it have gone and how do I see it again? Any help would be appreciated?
