Hi, I am going to attempt to do a little bit of house cleaning in the SoM. I have a total of 285 machines showing which consists of: Yet To Install - 3 Installed - 275 Installation Failed - 6 Uninstalled - 1 I have a feeling there are a couple of machines within the building which are not on here as well. What is the best way to ensure every machine we have on our domain is showing in Desktop Central (without having to go round to each machine) Is there a way to easily get rid of the machines which
Desktop Central agent on VDI
I read in the FAQ that you can use Desktop Central to manage VDI workstations. We are using Citrix XenDesktop persistent desktops. Are there any considerations\preparation that needs to happen in order to update the master images with the agent? Thanks, Dave
Desktop Central local Admin account
I would like to know about deleting the local admin account. Is it best practice to delete the account or keep the account? I have kept the account due to concerns with Active Directory Authentication. We did have an issue where we could not authenticate and having the account allowed me to login to Desktop Central.
Custom Script return code to update Configuration Status
When I deploy a Custom Script to run on start-up can I return a success/fail code that Desktop Central will use to update the status of Configuration? For instance, the script I have deployed runs on start-up, the Configuration status shows Sucess, but the script encountered errors during the process and I want to show failure as the status.

The login page for DTC is telling me to update to 91099 but when I check my server version 91099 is installed. The windows clients say 90198?? Is this correct.. Thanks, b
Disable other DC Agent Tray Icon Options
Is there a way to disable the View Logon Reports or at least limit them to that machine only? Currently I can only turn off Apply Config, Scan and Upload Patch or Inventory Details. We do not want other users knowing when other systems are logged into or out of, but turning off the Tray Icon alltogether seems to be the only other way... we actually would like the exact opposite... Remote User Self Install
I need a way to allow remote users to download the necessary files and self install the Desktop Central Agent Can someone outline the nest practices for me? Script copying to %localAppData% does not copy to correct directory
Hi, I have a custom script that copies file from a network share to the %LocalAppData% directory of the logged in user. When I deploy through Desktop Central instead of copying to %localAppDat% or c:\users\xxx\appdata\local\yyy it copies to C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\yyy Is there anyway to make the script execute as the local logged in user instead of the system user
Self Service Portal preferences
Hello, I am super-happy to see the "Self Service Portal" beeing implemented in the newest build! :) Unfortunately I haven't found a setting to disable the Desktop Icon for SSP, which gets generated with the client agent update. I would like to check the new feature before I publish the feature to all users and I want to prevent the user from clicking into ssp as long as I haven't published the feature officially. MYSQL database filling up hard drive
We are having an issue with Desktop Central filling up the D: drive. After investigating, we found that the ibdata1 file is 30.5 GB and growing. Is there a way to either trim this database down, or slow down it's growth? We have patch management and AD reporting turned on. Thanks, Dave
Cannot add Powershell script to the repository
I am trying to add a powershell script to the repository with the .ps1 extension which it says is supported. In the add script to repository menu the only boxes I get are script name and description. When I try to browse to the network share, it will not see the script. If i try to manual add the FQDN, it says it is not a valid script name, "\\SERVER\Scripts\Autodesk Inventor2014-64.ps1" Thanks, -Ben

Forcing Mac Agent to contact server
Is there any way to initiate communications to either the distribution server or the primary server, using the command line on a Mac? Hello, I'm pretty new to Manage Engine. I applied the patch from 9.1.0.?? to 9.1.0 SP 58 and things went well. So this time I applied the Service Patch from 9.1.0 SP 58 to 9.1.0 SP72 and the service won't start. I have rebooted several times. I have googled the problem and looked through this forum. I tried to push the agent from the Distribution Server which comes back as successful but the agent never installs. Migration from PostgreSQL to MSSQL Error

I keep getting prompted from ManageEngine to specify an Admin password for the WORKGROUP but it doesn't allow me to save. The exact message is below. Schedule Agent Install
Hi, I'm currently rolling out Desktop Central agents across multiple sites for a customer. I have a list of desktops/laptops to install the agent on and have added this to the computernames.txt file. Running the the setup.bat file is fine during office hours, but is it possible to schedule the script so that it runs outside of office hours? This is so I can install the agent on desktops that aren't turned on until the evening or at weekends. I'm guessing this would require amending the setup.bat

Login, feature access issues using web interface.
We recently upgraded the Desktop Central app to 91043. Yes, I know there is a newer patch, but we have not decided to install it yet. When I attempt to login to the application (using the system's admin account) I get nothing. It just sits and waits for a response. I have left it for 4 or 5 minutes before. Error - The specified server cannot perform the requested operation when trying to select computers in SoM
When I go to the managed workgroup under "SoM/Add Computer", I get "The specified server cannot perform the requested operation." This is an existing managed workgroup that I have added PC's and installed agent's through in the past. I have the most up to date build which I just installed hoping to fix the issue, to no avail. My DNS is resolving appropriately. Any thought on where to look next are greatly appreciated! -ddub :)
Report on Hardware based on Installed Software
Hey, I have been messing around with the Custom report feature in Desktop Central and cannot seem to be able to generate a detailed report on hardware in a computer if they have a specific piece of software installed. So for example, for all the computers that have Microsoft Office 2013 installed, give me the CPU family, RAM, and video card. Is there a way of doing this and I am just completely missing it? Hi y'all, I'm trying to apply service pack 9107 to a 9106 install of Desktop Central. I have always made a backup using backUpData.bat but this time that file is nowhere to be found on any drive throughout our entire 60 TB of files. I know this because being a fool, I searched anyways ... just in case I fell asleep at the mouse and inadvertently moved it or something. I even attempted to look inside all of the ManageEngine related archives .cab .exe and .ppm files kicking around but no dice. Easy

missing software
Hello, I ran a report to find out which machines had the agent installed. While using the information, I realized at least one machine was missing from the report. The report is just a custom report: Software Name equal "ManageEngine Desktop Central 9 - Agent" columns - Computer Name, Logon User, Model I checked the computer, and it does not list the agent under the software tab. Tie new Remote Office to existing Distribution Server
We're deploying a large number of sites which we'd like to organize according to their site codes. It would be excellent for organizational purposes if we could tie a new remote office to an existing DS without having to deploy a new DS. For example if we have a DS in a hub site where multiple primary offices terminate to their local MPLS cloud we'd like to have a DS there which services multiple site codes. With the current architecture we have to assign multiple sites to the site with the DS.
Unable to update Desktop Manager
Hi, I received the notification that build 91058 was available and duly downloaded the hotfix file. I'm on build 91043 but when I apply the .PPM file I receive the message: Do I need to uninstall the previous hotfixes first? I didn't need to do this before, or is there a different problem? Change the default log in authentication
Currently when i log into DTC the default log in authentication is local. I would like it to be the AD authentication. Is there a way i can change that with out deleting the local admin accounts?
