Inventory tab not updating since apply build update last week.
I applied the build patch on Friday and Inventory page has not refreshed since. I can loo at recently installed software report and it show it there, but the computer audit summary and 5 most recent software changes have not updated or changed since the patch was applied to the server.
SQL Server and Desktop Central - Backups and Patching
We have Desktop Central configured to use a SQL database. The DTC server and SQL are on separate servers. How should patches be applied to the SQL server since the result will be the SQL server getting rebooted and DTC will lose connection. The same is true for patching the DTC server itself... What will happen if the DTC server gets updated and reboots while other clients are installing patches? I'd like to hear how you all are handling it in your environment. And finally, there the issue with
Deploy DS to non-default installation path
Hello, We are just getting stared implementing DTC in our environment and I have a question about setting up a DS. From the help I can see at a certain point you download a zip file which you extract and run the setup.bat on the DS machine to install it. Can you select where to install DS on a server (i.e. we have foreseen a separate partition - F: - for this purpose)? I don't want it (and the patch/software repository) to deploy to the default C:\ path. Thank you for your feedback. Steve

Any tips on handling a large number of computers that are temporarily offline?
Does anyone have any tips on handling a large number of computers that are temporarily offline? We have a large number of computers that are temporarily in storage. They are cluttering up our computer lists for remote control, software updates, and patch management. They will be going back online eventually and I don't want to loose track of them or the information about them in Desktop Central so I would rather not take them out of the SOM. I have tried putting them in a Remote Office but that didn't
Deploying DC to all machines on network
Hi, I am looking at making sure all our machines within our company that are on our network / domain are showing in Desktop Central. Is there somewhere within Desktop Central that would pick up machines on the network which currently don't have the client, to allow me to push the client out to it, or would they need to have the desktop client installed on each machine for it to be picked up within Desktop Central itself? Hope that made sense.
Windows 10 Support
Our organization is testing whether or not our clients are ready for upgrades to Windows 10. As we use Desktop Central on our servers with the agent on the machines, we want to make sure that future machines with Windows 10 are supported. If not, is there any rough time frame of official compatibility?
Can you schedule a file copy?
I have found how to do it, but don't see any options to schedule it.
Fatal error during installation
Hello, When I ran the setup.bat-file (that I’ve downloaded from our desktop central console), I’ve got this error (see attachment). We have desktop Central 9 build 91112, and we are trying to install the agent on a windows 10 (x64bit) client. Can someone help me?
Manually install agent gives me "The advertised application will not be installed because it might be unsafe"
Hi, We install the agent with WDS which calls a bat-file to install the DesktopCentralAgent. Here is us bat-file: start /wait msiexec /i DesktopCentralAgent.msi TRANSFORMS="DesktopCentralAgent.mst" ENABLESILENT=yes REBOOT=ReallySuppress /lv Agentinstalllog.txt /qn Even when I remove the "/qn" I've got a "this advertised application will not be installed because it might be unsafe. ManageEngine DesktopCentral: where is the trash?
Is there a way for me to see the configurations that I have moved to the trash, or are they deleted forever automatically once I move them to the trash? Thanks!
Updated And Can No Longer Add Computers
Hello, This morning I updated our Desktop Central application to build 91124 and after the update I can no longer add computers. When I go into SoC to add a computer it now displays this message at the top when I select a group or a single computer: OUNT":3,"osPlatform".{},"ADDED_COMPUTERS_COUNT".3} It shows the selected computers on the right correctly, but the "Done" button is grayed out so my only option is to cancel. The computers are not already managed, and several computers from this domain
How to extract .mdf from .bak in SQL Server 2005
I have a 6GB .bak file that, when check it in the file to use for restore, the file shows 'Incomplete'. I need to extract the .mdf part of the .bak file since I don't need the .log file. There should be some way to do this or some tool out there that will either repair the .bak file so it doesn't show 'Incomplete', or that will extract the .mdf file so I can use it or repair just the .mdf file. There may even be a SQL script that will do this. I've done extensive searches and can't find an answer.
Desktop Central notifications
All of our desktop central notifications seem to be failing, and not being received by the specified recipient. This includes Configurations Software deployment inventory scan Please advise how we can solve this issue.
Desktop Central MSP - Custom Secure Login Page
Can someone please help me modify the login page. Since this is MSP - it will be exposed to public for the agents to be able to communicate. The current page has all the advertisement one needs to know what type of application is hosted. + This makes it too easy for someone to find an exploit for DC MSP. I would like a simple login page - only the form.
DC Support with Win 10
Hi Guys! We are planning to upgrade all Windows 7 to Windows 10 workstations hopefully this 1st quarter and am just wondering if there is a new build for DC that can support Win 10 especially in updating patches and its all important features? I have read some threads about it and I want to make it more clearly before rolling out with this new activity. Right now we are running 91070 build and we are planning to make the upgrade the soonest. Thanks, Leo

login to Desktop Central
Is there a way to use domain credentials as the login to DC or are we stuck with admin
KB2644615 wsus vs DC
I see a lot of patches that WSUS says are not applicable, but Desktop Central shows them as needed. For instance KB2644615 When I look on WSUS it shows it set to approved / install, but lists it as Not Applicable. (this is for Server 2008 R2 w/SP1) Desktop Central shows it as missing. When I look at MS12-001 https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/ms12-001 it looks to me like it applies to the OS, but since I don't have MS Visual C++ .Net 2003 installed on the server I shouldn't need it. Restore top tabs
I am demoing ServiceDeskPlus and successfully integrated it to DesktopCentral. However, it took away the top tabs in DC. I removed the integration but the tabs have not been restored. How do I bring them back?
Server wont start after upgrade to 91112
I performed an update to 91112 and then it was for every 'Starting' a few reboot didn't resolve. uninstalled, reinstalled old version 90170 and restored backup. now doesn't start as 'Previous Patch not applied properly' shouldn't the Backup not had this flag set before it performed a Backup? Thanks Paul
Time incorrect
Hi The time on our DC9 server is exactly 12 hours behind. So times are reading AM instead of PM and vice versa I've been through the steps found in a previous post : https://forums.manageengine.com/topic/time-incorrect-in-desktop-central Running the jar file shows timezones match on each change\restart of the service , but still time stamps in the server console are 12 hours out. Also no change after a server reboot Thanks Mark
Being able to depoloy approved patches from the client.

Doing a bit of house cleaning...?
Hi, I am going to attempt to do a little bit of house cleaning in the SoM. I have a total of 285 machines showing which consists of: Yet To Install - 3 Installed - 275 Installation Failed - 6 Uninstalled - 1 I have a feeling there are a couple of machines within the building which are not on here as well. What is the best way to ensure every machine we have on our domain is showing in Desktop Central (without having to go round to each machine) Is there a way to easily get rid of the machines which
Desktop Central agent on VDI
I read in the FAQ that you can use Desktop Central to manage VDI workstations. We are using Citrix XenDesktop persistent desktops. Are there any considerations\preparation that needs to happen in order to update the master images with the agent? Thanks, Dave
Desktop Central local Admin account
I would like to know about deleting the local admin account. Is it best practice to delete the account or keep the account? I have kept the account due to concerns with Active Directory Authentication. We did have an issue where we could not authenticate and having the account allowed me to login to Desktop Central.
Custom Script return code to update Configuration Status
When I deploy a Custom Script to run on start-up can I return a success/fail code that Desktop Central will use to update the status of Configuration? For instance, the script I have deployed runs on start-up, the Configuration status shows Sucess, but the script encountered errors during the process and I want to show failure as the status.

The login page for DTC is telling me to update to 91099 but when I check my server version 91099 is installed. The windows clients say 90198?? Is this correct.. Thanks, b
Disable other DC Agent Tray Icon Options
Is there a way to disable the View Logon Reports or at least limit them to that machine only? Currently I can only turn off Apply Config, Scan and Upload Patch or Inventory Details. We do not want other users knowing when other systems are logged into or out of, but turning off the Tray Icon alltogether seems to be the only other way... we actually would like the exact opposite... Keep icon visiable, Allow Apply Changes Allow Scan Upload Patch Details Allow Scan Upload Inventory Details Disable
Upgrade your Windows XP to SP3 and 2003 Server to SP2
Hello, Desktop Central uses digitally signed binaries to help Windows authenticate the identity of the creator and allow them to run automatically. Owing to the recent vulnerability in the code signing certificate algorithm, Microsoft has announced the deprecation of the previous algorithm (SHA 1). Effective January 1, 2016, Microsoft will not trust certificates signed with SHA 1 algorithm. We have upgraded our agent binaries by signing them with the latest algorithm (SHA 2). Since the latest

Remote User Self Install

Script copying to %localAppData% does not copy to correct directory
Hi, I have a custom script that copies file from a network share to the %LocalAppData% directory of the logged in user. When I deploy through Desktop Central instead of copying to %localAppDat% or c:\users\xxx\appdata\local\yyy it copies to C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\yyy Is there anyway to make the script execute as the local logged in user instead of the system user
Self Service Portal preferences
Hello, I am super-happy to see the "Self Service Portal" beeing implemented in the newest build! :) Unfortunately I haven't found a setting to disable the Desktop Icon for SSP, which gets generated with the client agent update. I would like to check the new feature before I publish the feature to all users and I want to prevent the user from clicking into ssp as long as I haven't published the feature officially. Is there a setting to prevent the desktopn shortcut from bein installed? I have created
