Hello,
Desktop Central uses digitally signed binaries to help Windows authenticate the identity of the creator and allow them to run automatically. Owing to the recent vulnerability in the code signing certificate algorithm, Microsoft has announced the deprecation of the previous algorithm (SHA 1). Effective January 1, 2016, Microsoft will not trust certificates signed with SHA 1 algorithm.
We have upgraded our agent binaries by signing them with the latest algorithm (SHA 2). Since the latest algorithm is not supported in few older Windows operating systems (specified below), it will no longer be trusted and hence can cause problems in the agent functions. The following Windows OS do not support SHA 2:
If you are using any of the above OS, it is recommended to upgrade to a more recent version, like Windows XP Service Pack 3 or Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 2 to ensure smooth functioning of the Desktop Central agent before the end of this year.
Please write to us, if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Ananth
