Add a Custom Dynamic Group to a configuration
Hello, I have created a configuration which's renames a file and places a new one. I also created a dynamic group with all machines containing the software regarding the renaming/replacing. Now I want to add the group to the target list but I can only add the customs static groups, the dynamic ones are not in the list. is this not possible? It is useful if the dynamic list updates itself if there are clients who also have the specific software installed. Regards, Mark

Hi All, I want to block all .exe and .msi to run via Desktop Central. I am trying to use the option in inventory named as "block executables" but when I type "*.exe" and "*.msi" to block all msi and exe packages I get an error. Can anyone help me to block all software executable and allow only the ones I want them to use.

Is there a proper way to deploy multiple application installs in a single configuration
We have our software install configuration to deploy multiple application (usually about 12 packages). This was working properly until the upgrade to 10.0.518, now the process fails and install only a few packages. Usually this can be resolved by rebooting the computer and a few more packages get installed. Is there a limit to the number that should be pushed in a single configuration? or is this a bug i the new release? Should we be using a different method to push several applications together?
Install and configure Windows SNMP from Desktop Central

Anyone else unable to deploy a registry entry with curly brackets?
I'm trying to deploy a registry configuration to my workstations, but if the value I'm trying to deploy has curly brackets { }, the page just hangs and doesn't submit. If I remove the curly brackets and leave everything else the same, the configuration is created just fine. This is a problem of course because I need the curly brackets. Stopping a custom script from running
Hello, We have a need in our org to disable workstations and we do this by running a script to shut down a workstation using 'shutdown /s /f'. In Desktop Central, we set this to run at every startup. The issue were finding with this method is that we can't stop the script from running on the target workstation even after removing it from the configuration. Would we have to manually remove the script from the target machine to stop the script from running? If so, is there a directory that the script
Configuration/Software Baseline for Client Computers
Hi, I am trying to automate deployment of a Root Certificate to client machines(not servers) for a certain domain, so when a computer is added to a "OU" or a "Dynamic Group" the Root Certificate is deployed automatically. I have created a Computer Collection deployment and selected the Domain and added a Dynamic Group to the "Filter Computers based on" but the deployment gets executed and never installs the Root Certificate to new computers added to the Dynamic Group. How do you properly pass script arguments?
It's unclear to me how to type arguments so they pass to the script properly. Let's take the DeleteUnusedLocalProfiles.ps1 script you provide in the Script Repository Templates. It says Script Arguments: "<No. of days not used>" When I type the number of days, do I type 30 or "30" or "<30>" ? Thanks.
Is it possible to set who can edit scripts in the Script Repository?
Hello, I am wondering is it possible to set up permissions where a user could access the script repository and execute scripts but cannot edit the scripts in the repository. Right now we have it set up where our technicians can execute them and edit the scripts, we would only like them to be able to execute them. We have tried changing some roles/editing some roles so that Configurations is in Read Only but this removes access to the repository. Any help would be much appreciated with this Thank
mapping network drives
Hi all Does anyone have any best practices they are willing to share for managing mapped drives solely from Desktop Central? I'm thinking about things like: - we organize our users by OU's based on their location in AD. Can I map drives based on OU? If so, is Desktop Central able to pickup and add/removes/changes to the OU? -Is this the best way to manage mapped drives from Desktop Central? Can I do something with Groups in Active Directory? Secure Gateway - Service Running and Ports opened - *But not listening
Hello, Our Secure Gateway server stopped working around 3 days ago and when verifying the service was not running and kept stopping. Hence, installed the latest build 90077 with the correct ports. After installing it, the service stays running but none of the ports are not Listening. (Used Netstat and Port Query) We have double checked firewall rules are in place for ports to be opened but for some reason the service/application doesn't want to listen to the configured ports. How-to filter computers by similar names under dynamic custom group
Hi! I would like to create a dynamic custom group for a configuration where I would like to exclude computers with names starting with "desktop" (the names are for example desktop-001, desktop-002 etc) because these desktops are different from others and should have a different configuration. Create Exports for IP Scopes, Remote Offices and Computers
When setting up a Desktop Central server, you have the ability to import a CSV file with information. Problem is, the documentation is not clearly written and thus causes a lot of issues, errors and downtime. When migrating information from one server to another (new server/new hardware), you should be able to export the IP scope and other information in the proper format. So far, following the build in instructions form Desktop Central, i've yet to get anything to import and i won't manually import

Exporting Current Settings
We are getting ready to install a new Desktop Central server. I'm going through the current one and don't see an option to export our current configurations. Does this option exist? We are manually setting everything as we want a fresh clean install. Manually importing machines as we don't want any possible corruption being imported. Is there a feature to export the configurations for the different area's or do we just have to manually setting by setting.

Hi all, I am unsing ManageEngine Desktop Central and I am trying to add a shared network drive to all computers. The shared network drive is on a machine that everyone has access to, but it requires a username and password (let's say user: SharedDrive, password: 1234) When doing a new configuration > user (Add Shared Network Drive), it doesn't ask me for credentials and then it fails because username/password is incorrect, which is normal because I didn't find where to put them. I was hoping to access my DC management console from the internet. I DO have a secure gateway server setup and have remote clients processing with no problems. My question is, when I try to go to https://mypublicdnsaddress:8443 (which I have validate is visible to the world), all I get is a white screen. Have I missed something or is this not the way Secure Gateway was intended? If that is the case, is there another way to securely expose my portal to have remote managment console access? SECURELY

Shortcut creation problem
We are trying to create a few shortcuts to files and sites on users desktops and running into a problem. Under "Shortcut User" or "Shortcut Computer", when I go to "Target Application" and "Browse" I get an error whenever I click on a network. It says "The network cannot be reached" even though we are connected and have all our machines visible and working otherwise. Are there any troubleshooting steps to see why we would be getting this message? I don't get any type of connectivity error anywhere

Copy a folder and then change permissions
I have a Configuration which successfully copies a directory and its contents from a network share to a local PC. But one folder needs to be open for users to write to once they start the application it is associated with. Communication Problem between Client and Server

After installing agent from Desktop Central Server it is performing Inventory Scan and in Inventory section the Scan Status is Success. When I am trying to scan system from Desktop Central Server it gives me following error "The network name cannot be found." And although remote tools such as remote connection, processes, etc not working. Briefly, communication from Client side working, but from Server side not.

Stop a Custom Script from running
Hi All, I've created a custom script configuration that deploys a .vbs script. This script displays a pop up message on the target machine with yes and no buttons. If yes is clicked, a browser and website is displayed, no closes the pop up. This is all working fine and I deployed with the frequency set to "every startup until 31st Jan 16:00" I've noticed that if I remove a machine from the target list, the pop up still appears. I assume that's because the .vbs has been downloaded locally to "....\computer\startup\"

Currently there are 57 computers on the domain controller and desktop central is installed on all 57 computers, but the alert message continues: Agent not installed in Client Computers.
