Reboot after Patch Deployment
I have a scheduled scan and deploy job setup for patches. I have the job set to run off hours and force a reboot. The scan and deploy works fine, but the reboot doesn't complete. The computers are logged off and in screensaver mode at the time. They get the reboot command ok. After the deploy they start to shut down, but the shutdown does not complete until someone moves the mouse or presses a key to get out of the screen saver. New User - Having authetication issues
I am evaulating Desktop Central to manage computers over the WAN that are not part of a Domain or Workgroup. These are stand alone systems that act as Kiosks and all share the same administrative userID and password. I have deployed this in our lab with no firewalls and on systems that are on the same LAN. I have succefully deployed the client (manually) and have it setup under a remote office. However, simple oerations such as restart/reboot do not work. It returns "login failure: unkonwn user name

Purge Temp Files
I set a configuration to purge temp files but it doesn't seem to be working? The problem is... When you open an attachment in Outlook, it automatically saves a copy to the temp folder, if there are multiple attaaachments with the same name, it will append them with a number (voicemail (1).wav... Once it's hit 99, it won't open another voicemail.wave file, so I've manually gone on users machines as this has come up and deleted the temp files. I found the configuration that should do this automatically

reinstall Desktop Central on production server
Are there any special requirements when I move the current install to a production box?? Do I need to do anything with the agents or will they see the production server when I restart the box?

I have tested Desktop Central and I am ready to move to the production server. Is there anything special I will need to do for the clients to recognize the new location of the server or is this automatic when I define my SOM?

EventID=7011
Hi Romanus, When we installed the agent to 4 new HP Desktop computers we get the below error in the event log. This does not seem to be happening on any other computers. EventID=7011 Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the ManageEngine Desktop Central 6 - Agent service. Thanks, Billy.

Im new into this software Deployment program, so it maybe has to be a stupid Issue... When i try to connect to a client through the remote desktop menu, i get the error: "Access Denied". in the column "connection status" it stands "operation failed". Can I disable MS automatic updates?
I couldn't find it in there... But I'd like to disable the Microsoft auto updates... A few users got Internet Explorer 8 (which doesn't work so well) So I want to make sure no one else gets it. Thanks
Removing Configurations
Evaluating the software i created a configuration to display a message box. after i verified that it worked, i deleted the configuration. now the clients still get the message box every time they log on in the morning. how do i remove that???
Branch Office Replication
My company has a lot of branch offices worldwide and some do not have the best of connection speeds. I was wondering if there was the capability to replicate the software repository and the patches to a local share at that office and assign the computer's in that office to hit that share instead of the server at our main building.
Wake on lan
Hi, I have been trying to find out how to initiate a wake on lan straight away instead of a scheduled Wake on LAN task. I can not seem to find this in the product. Maybe I am just not looking hard enough, as I thought that if there is a scheduled task you could do this right away. Anybody? Thanks, Billy.

Stations from failed configurations showing up is other configurations.
I have four configurations that I'm dealing with. One updates flash, one updates shockwave, one does a registry edit and the fourth one delpoys a Microsoft patch. The flash, shockwave and registry edit configuraions were to one station only and each had completed successfuly. The patch configuration was for around 400 stations and was scheduled to execute at midnight last night. This morning I noticed all 4 configurations had a status of failed where the first three were previously completed successfuly.

New PC's in OU's with Configurations already deployed
Hello- I've noticed while testing Desktop Central that after a configuration is deployed with the target being an OU; any new computer that is added to the OU does not become a part of the target computers. I can modify that configuration and the newly added computer will show up under that same OU, but it would be nice not to have to modify the config each time we get a new PC. Is there a way to do this now, or do I need to submit a request for a new feature?
remote connect fails for 1 device
I can't use remote connect for one of my network computers, I got the message (Connecton failed for "10.10.10.10 - PC-NAME" combination). but patch and inventory scaning works fine!! I tried to remove PC and uninstall/reinstall agent but no luck.. Regards, Omar

Window Patching
A bunch of our PCs are flagged as "highly vulnerable" due to an Office 2003 patch. I try to deploy this patch to those "highly vulnerable" PCs and I get the "Not Applicable" notice that the patch doesn't go with the PC. What gives? Is there any way to either, ignore a patch when calculating the vulnerable graphs, or scan these computers properly so I know what patches I'm missing and what patches I am not. Currently I'm not sure I can trust this and its patch scanning mechanism.

Compare Machines in AD with Installed DC Clients
Looking for an easy way to compare a list of computers that are in our Active Directory structure to those that have had the DC Agent installed successfully, failed installs, and those that haven't received the agent. What would be the easy way to do this without running tons of reports and manually sorting through each and every computer...some 700 machines. Thx!
Remote Control desn't support copy/paste (clipboard sharing)
Hello, It seems that DC's Remote Control doesn't support the copying of text from the local PC (technician's PC) to the host PC (the user's PC). This is really important as we became used to that capability with VNC, i.e. VNC shares the clipboard. When will this feature be available? Regards, LeRoy
Better USB Control
We know that DesktopCentral can block/deny USB access. It will be great if we could control different types of USB activities. For example: Be possible to create a template that deny usb pendrives and allow usb mouses and keyboards. Example 2: Be possible to create a template that allow read actions in pendrives but deny edit/create/exclude actions.
Remote Process / Service Control
From the web console, the tech should have the ability to query and control in near-realtime individual services running on a remote machine. Further more he should have the ability to query and control running processes on a remote machine.
Further Windows Update Integration
Further integration with the Windows Update database to ensure that *all* eligible updates are captured. For example there is an update for .Net 3.5 but DC is not providing it as an option. Also "optional" software and hardware updates should be included from WU.
Advertised Program Interface
It looks like the framework for might be in place ("advertise" is an option for software pushes, but I don't see the end result...). But it would be excellent if the user could right click on the Agent and click "Browse Available Software" so that the user could have some choice in which software he/she needs. Also, the Windows "Add/Remove Programs" applet has an area for "Add programs from your network...". It would be optimal for those selections to appear there as well.
On-Demand Agent Requests
It would be nice (though I realize there are security implications here) if the agents were able to listen and take commands on demand. If I needed to force push software to an end user who did not understand how to trigger an "Apply Computer Configurations" request, the end user would be stuck for awhile. Or if I have been requested to force someone off of a machine; that would need to happen quickly.
Removed Previously Installed Software
Ability to Remove software that is already on a machine. Say, for example, that I inherit a poorly managed LAN that I am to remotely manage. I need a way to get in and remove unapproved, or malicious software. I should be able to browse the Add/Remove Programs list on the remote machine and uninstall those applications. -- Or at least see the software so I could create pushes to pragmatically remove the software.
