Cannot deploy exe in Windows 7
Hi. I have 6 Windows XP SP3 machines and 1 Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit. I created an EXE install package which deploys successfully on the 6 XP machines but not on the Windows 7 machine. It produces an "Invalid Handle" error. I have turned UAC off and enabled NTLM when negotiated but it still fails. What should I try next? Thanks!
Software Deployment
I just about went crazy on my first software deployment from "Access Denied" messages until I found this article. I had to use both Copy and RunAs in order to get a successful install. But now I have the following questions: 1. Why must I specify RunAs when Desktop Central already has the same credentials stored under Admin > SoM > Edit Credentials. They are exactly the same credentials. Should not Desktop Central simply use these credentials by default? 2. Why must I specify the MSI Root
Software Deployment order
I have 3 MSI's to install to a group of machines. They must be installed in a specific order. The only way I found to specify the installation order in a single configuration is to number the package names when I originally create them. Is there a feature to choose the installation order? Thanks!
Change and Lock down Screen resolution
I need to be able to Change all screen resolutions to 1024x768 and lock it down so the user cannot change it. Is this possible with Desktop Central? Jamie
Intelligent patching
Suppose I have a list of 5 machines in "Highly Vulnerable Systems" with various missing patches. I then tic the upper check-box to choose all 5 machines, then click Deploy Missing Patch and deploy the configuration. I presume that this configuration will selectively attempt to individually apply only the specific patches needed on each of the 5 machines, but when the configuration runs it produces some errors as if an attempt had been made to apply all patches to all machines. Real-time data and interaction
Hi. I am currently evaluating Desktop Central and we intend to purchase it. Although we are pleased enough with the current features to warrant a purchase, the single biggest missing feature when compared with our current management product is the lack of real-time interaction with the agents. Running the Apply Now tool from a command line is cumbersome. Please integrate this functionality into the GUI. Thank you!
Status of all machines
Is there a feature in Desktop Central to poll all machines to discover which ones are not currently turned on (i.e. they did not respond to the poll)?
Broadcast a message
Is there a feature in Desktop Central to broadcast an on-screen message to the currently-logged on user for any or all machines?
Extra users\computers appearing in configurations
We are having an issue where extra users or computers are getting added to some configurations. It has happened to several types of configurations (software installations, logon scripts, mapped drives). The extra users\computers are not shown in the target list, only in execution status list. Thank you for any assistance in this matter.
Custom Groups
When creating Custom Groups the navigation window provides Tree and List (from the entire domain) or Add from a manually-typed list. How can we choose from a shorter list of only our currently-managed machines? Thank you!

SOX problem
We have implemented Desktop Central and it is working very well great job. However we have just been audited with SOX guidlines and one thing I am getting a lot of pressure on is that the agent is a manuall installation (meaning human error or firewalls etc could play a roll in some systems not being update). I would like to see some kind of sync to active directory to include and automated install of the agent. This of course would require the agent to be able to understand if it is on a 192.168.2.0
trying to patch KB959209 for .NET
Hi there Im trying to apply patches to my .NET installations. There is KB959209 containing KB958481 (for .NET 2.0 SP2), KB958483 (for .NET 3.0 SP2) and KB958484 (for .NET 3.5 SP1) I would like to apply all the three KB's, but I can only find KB958484 (=96780) in the Repository? How can I add the others to my configuration? BR Pat

Good Afternoon, When configuring updates to install there is the option fior the user to not restart their machine as soon as installation completes, which is fine. However, how do you stop the constant message box asking the user to restart their machine from popping up? Thanks Sharlene
Push agent for desktop central fails
We are new customers and have not been able to push agent out to all Windows 2k/xp machines as intended. I was thinking of maybe pushing a silent .msi file install via domain login script. Has anyone done this? Is there an easy way to create .msi file?
Local User Reporting
I have received a script to return all computers in the domain and a list of local admin group memberships (Thank You) but it is only retrieving one computer at a time? I copied the script as the instructions indicated. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, D
Validation Failed adding an Active Directory domain
Hi, I installed the Device Central 70106. I am trying to add a test Active Directory. I added the user "dcentral" and added it to the Domain Admins. Deploying Login Desktop Settings
Hi, I'm trying to set the Wallpaper of the login Screen in windows XP with desktop central. To do this I need to set a registry key in HKEY_USERS\.Default. But this tree can only be accessed through User Configurations. Is there a way to do this in a computer configuration? I'd like to control this computer and not user dependent. greetz chris
Remote Control and Caps Lock/Shift Key Issue
When I am remote controlling a computer and I am logging into it, entering a password in that requires using the shift key, the password is not excepted. I tested it on other machines and holding the caps lock or shift key does not translate through the remote control session. What to do?

When deploying the remote agent, users get an alert from AVG business edition that malware has been detected and do you want to quarantine. Does anyone else get this error?
Remote Control Settings
I am having a problem on the remote control tab of DC. We customized the message for the prompt but now we cannot change it. Everytime we try to change it, we get an error on the page and it will not save the changes. I have tried several different times on several different browsers and it still will not save the changes. I thought that I might be able to find the web files that generate that page, and manually change it, but I don't know where to begin to look. Anyone had this problem before
Differentiating between OEM and Full Product
We have a number of desktops and servers that are a mixture of OEM windows and open licence. Desktop Central shows them as the same, ie. XP Service Pack 3 We need to be able to monitor licence usage of both. Have i missed something here or is this not possible?

Hi, We would like to use WOL to wake our computers, apply patches of software and then shutdown. Is there a way to do this. I have tried, but because it waits for either login or 90 minute refresh it means we have to leave the computers on for some time.
Configuring firewall port
Hello! I manage an office with approx 160 machines. I need to allow a program through the firewall on each machine. Is it possible to do this? I clicked on add configurations - computer configurations - firewall to do this but I must have a port number. Since it uses multiple ports I need to allow the application without a port number. Deleting configurations
There really has to be an easier way to delete multiple configurations instead of one at a time. Would it be hard to add check boxes beside each configuration so that you can select multiple old configurations and then "delete selected"?

Logical Disk Partitions
With desktop central 7 how can I create a report for the Logical Disk Partitions of every server? The current drive space/disk usage reports do me no good if a server has 2 logical partitions and 1 is full and the other is not. What if a server has 2 logical partitions (a C: and D: both the same size), lets say c: is 99% full and e: is 49% full, the report will say 50% space used. But clearly the C: is dangerously close to full capacity. I need a detailed report by Logical Disk Partition.

Server error on restart?
Have installed Desktop Central trial on a server, was testing it out on a few machines. Restarted the server due to a windows update and now it wont seem to start the service. Using the web browser to access it i get the message: Service Temporarily Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. default target for software installation
Hi Is there any way to choose a different default target for software installation? Right now the radio button defaults to "Domain" but I'd like to set it to "computer" to prevent accidental deployment to unnecessary machines. Thanks
Computer Inventory
I am at Build number 70100. I recently noticed that in Computers By Inventory, next to "Server" the number is 2, which is incorrect. When I click on the "2" it lists all 7 of my true Windows 2003/2008 servers. Is this a known issue? Thanks - jsbac

moving a computer between sites
Hi I have desktop computers that are moving from one remote office to another, and some to the LAN. What's the best way to reflect this in DesktopCentral? Do I need to uninstall the agent and reinstall the agent for the new site on each computer? Thanks
WinInstall MSI package Software Deployment problem - Desktop Central
I am testing DC software deployment of MSI package which is created by using Scalable WinInstall LE. The Desktop Central task said "executed", but when I checked the client computer, the apps was not on start menu, not listed in "add remove programs" and no registry changes for the apps, however the apps folder was created in program files and apps can be run from there. I also tested the MSI package installation directly on the client machine and there was no problem at all. So I assume the package
