desktop central server crash
I have a easily repeatable problem with inventory report "software by computer". The report has around 38,000 items and when I try to run it the Central Server crashes and the service restarts. Any ideas? I suspect that the java is running out of memory but I'm not sure where or if the limit is defined. The OS is server 2008 and the machine has 8Gb of memory and quite low CPU utilisation. The engine version is 7 with the 7.003 service pack installed. I can't say for sure if the problem existed before
Problem with application install via configuration

Upgrading from jre 6.16 to jre 6.17 with Desktop Central build 70010
When I shedule a software install (.exe) with the recommended arguments to upgrade to jre6.17 it conticuously says that it cannot find the install file and to check its location. I have opened up the network share competley to everyone so I don't think permissions are the issue. I can actually run a software install configuration with the jre (.msi) package and it finds it within the same network share I have the .exe. However it fails with a "fatal error during installation".
Java update on Windows 7
When trying to update to JRE 6.17 on windows 7 the log shows "1619 , Error Message : This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package." The same exact configuration works fine on an XP machine. Is there something that needs to be done to the configuration for Windows 7? Thanks Kane
Automation of inventory reports
Hi there, Is there any way of being able to automatically schedule the "Computer Detail" inventory reports, so that the pdf can be exported to a specified directory on a specific date? I can't seem to find anything that would enable this in Desktop Central. It's rather tedious having to go to each server, view the inventory details, and then export the pdf to a directory all manually. Currently this is a bi-monthly job for myself, which i have to do for 47 servers each time. Cheers, Ash.

Install clients to users connectged with VPN client
I have a large number of users that connect exclusively using our VPN client and connect to our VPN concentrator. They are assigned an IP address (ex. 192.168.9.x). I have tried pushing the agent to them when I know their systems are connected to the VPN but it fails and I have also setup a Configuration using their username so that when they connect ot the VPN it would install. Neither one works.
Unable to Delete unused Domain from scope of Management
The Scope of Management shows our Domain and another named "Workgruip". Workgruip shows as having no computers in it, but when we try to delete it, we get an error message saying that one or more of the computers in Workgriup has the Desktop Agent on it and that the program needs to be uninstalled before Workgriup can be deleted. Since we show no computers in the group we cannot uninstall the agent. How can we get rid of this non existing Domain?

I've downloaded the software and installed it to demo and get approval for purchase to use in our company. However there is MAJOR issue with the executable install. There is a virus in it. Users report very slow computers during patch updates
Hi there, I was trying a patch update on the pc's in our network and users started calling complaining of very slow PC's. Is this normal. We used to do patch updates with WSUS and no users complained of slow pc's. Thanks John

Unable to Uninstall Ver6 Agent
When I try and remove Desktop Central 6 agent from add/remove programs I get a "fatal uninstall error" and the program cannot be removed. Tried using Desktop Central 7 to upgrade the agent or remove it and this does not work. How do I force remove or clean up an agent install on this computer. Thanks, Jeff

How do I re-deploy failed software installs
I have some software deployment configurations that deploy fine on some computers, and fail on others. Some of these configurations have 3 MSI files to deploy. Sometimes all of the MSI files fail, sometimes one or two fail, sometimes all work fine. Sometimes I re-deploy the configuration, and it deploys fine during the re-deploy operation. Questions: 1. Trouble connecting agent with server using WAN agent
Hello all, I am trying to use a WAN agent to manage a server at a remote site. I specified the WAN IP address for the DC server. However, it does not connect to the DC server, and the agent status is listed as still needing to be installed. Does anyone have any ideas on things I should check to troubleshoot this problem? Remote office as alternative to Hamachi?
Hello, I am using Desktop Central to administer the servers of clients of the company I work for. Previously, we used Hamachi to (as I understand it) generate a VPN in which all the servers were on the VPN. I was wondering if there is a way to administer these servers without using Hamachi. I am reading in the documentation, and it seems that setting the servers up as remote offices might be the answer. Is this correct? What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing this?
