Apply Desktop Wallpaper
I am trying to apply Desktop Wallpaper through Desktop Central using Display User Configuration Settings, I am using .jpg file and the size is 500KB. The desktop wallpaper is not getting applied. Is there any limitations related to file size or file type?

Diskcleanup option - WebClient and WebPublisher Cache?
The system tools of Desktop Central seems to be the red headed stepchild of this software package, nothing is ever added(unfortunately) and its just out there. Be that as it may I'm trying to get some clarification on the the diskcleanup option, specifically what checking the option WebClient and WebPublisher Cache actually does. I previously had just Internet Cache selected hoping that would clean my IE cache's... but that doesn't seem to be doing anything... might the WebClient and WebPublisher
Finding out what service packs are required
Playing around with Desktop central. Patch management seems OK, but not as smooth as I would like it. However, patch management does not show you which service packs are required for a machine. For instance, there are windows 7 SP0 and SP1 in the environment. I would expect that for the non SP machines, it would have a list of missing service packs but I cannot seem to find. This means, that somehow I need to know what service packs are needed in the environment and then deploy them manually.
Wallpaper removed from windows - No wallpaper change is specified
I have created a policy to change the My Computer name to the the actual name of the computer. This is the only change in the display policy. However after the policy is applied the wallpaper resets to a solid black. Reseting the desktop wallpaper manually works... for a few seconds... The only thing I have found that works is to remove the policy again. Any ideas?
Changing manually deployed patches to approved....
Hello I have manually deployed a set of patches to a test machine. I now want to change these patches from "Not Approved" to Approved such that automatic deployment of patches will work, but there is no way of doing this without jotting down the manually applied patches and manually changing them over. Is there another way that this could be done?

Hi We have installed MSPCenterPlus as a trial to see if it will work for us. I am trying to setup the mail server settings. We use Google mail and I followed the instrcutions but I just receive an error when I sent a test email: javax.net.ssl.SSLException. Changing Exchange Server
How can I utilize DC to change workstations to point to a different Exchange server? All workstations currently use Outlook 2007 to access it. I am getting ready to replace my aging Exchange server. The new server will have a different name/IP. I believe that it can be accomplished with a registry change, but I don't know that for certain. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. jsbac
Reboot to Install patches at user logoff
Hello In PatchMgmt > Automate Patch Deployment > Download and Install Approved Non-Security Patches (Not Servers) > Reboot Policy, we have the option to force shutdown at user login, force reboot at user login, Allow user to skip, or don't reboot at all. I was wondering if it might be possible to implement a way of installing patches after a user has completed logoff. This way the patch install process doesn't interfere with the user experience in any way. This would manifest as a 6th option saying

Issue with Copying Of Files to computer in Desktop Central
Hi, I have encountered some issue with the Desktop Central. I have tried to copy some files from the Desktop Central server to the another computer in the same network which is using the Desktop central agent. The files are copeid using the File Folder Operation under computer configuration. I have selected the Copy using Network share option and for the target, i have set it as workgroup in domain and apply it to remote office. After that I did the deployment but it show the status " in progress(failed)"
Desktop Central Wake on LAN
Desktop Central 8 Build 80018 I'm unable to modify/create a Scheduled Wake Up. Tools > Wake on LAN > Schedule Wake Up > Modify existing task. If I add or remove computers, it won't let me save because the date selector under Once or Daily does not work. The calendar does not pop up for me to select a date and I can't manually input the date. Which means I can't save because the "Start time already expired" error pops up. Creating a new Scheduled Wake Up does not work either as you cannot select

Any chance of getting DC to exclude distribution based on a registry key or if the application has been installed or file version? It would be nice for when you want to blast out something based on very particular requirements. Like "if sage.exe > version 1.0.2 then install sage 1.0.3" Or "if file sage.exe exists then do not install" Or "if HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Sage exists then install" I think I have mentioned this before but never got a response back. Desktop Central 8 mysqld-nt.exe high CPU utilization
I was having a problem with Desktop Central 7 and thought upgrading might help, but it did not. The problem I'm experiencing is that when Windows starts up the Desktop Central 8 startup window displays and get to 76% and stays there for over 30 minutes. Once the startup window goes away the computer utilization is 100%. When I check task manager the program mysqld-nt.exe is running at 90% or higher utilization. Within Desktop Central, under Patch Management -> Downloaded Patches, a user can view all of the patches that have been downloaded to the server hosting Desktop Central. Create Default Gateway Policy
We have several gateways on our network but only 1 is set to go through our iPrism web filter. Some employees have learned how to bypass the filter by changing their gateway. Is there a way to make a group policy through Desktop Central in which makes it mandetory to use the set default gateway?
Column addition
In Desktop Central under Patch Management-Automate Patch Deployment I have a Scheduled patch task to update ForeFront Clients. Once it's finished we can see desktops that have not been updated. My question is can there be another column created for last login under download status. We would like to visually inspect the non updated desktops without having to click on them to find out who they belong to.

Shared network printer configuration
I have created a configuration to add a networked printer when users log into specific computers. The shared network path to the printer is correct, as is the Target (Domain, Apply to: OU, and OU name have been selected and there are computers in the OU). Error while configuring server messge when I try to install Desktop Central
Hello, I get the following error(s) when I try to install Desktop Central on a Windows 2003 x64 server. It copies the desktopcentral_compressed.exe file to the C:\Program Files (x86)\DesktopCentral_Server\ directory but that's were it stops. I can manually run the exe and it extracts, however the DC icon just keeps flashing in the system tray. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Generate Warning Tickets in ServiceDesk for Detection When Prohibited Software In Desktop Central
At the MidEast conference, @Romanus suggested that better SD/DC integration is in the pipeline, but is it in the pipeline to integrate better so that if a user repeatedly tries to install prohibited software, it will generate a warning ticket and message to a user to explain to them the software is prohibited and that it will not be allowed/infractions can occur? That would be really useful in my environment, and I imagine others.

Programs deleted from DesktopCentral store
I am in the process of clearing out old applications. I deleted them from Desktop Central but when I look at the store, they are still there. Is this behavior by design? To give you an example: I deleted the itunes application that resides in swrepository\swuploads\... I then went into the swuploads (store) directory and see 300271-iTunesSetup 300271-iTunesSetup_10.5.1.42 I can see the same for java, flash and acrobat. Thanks Charles
Integration with SD+
Hello, Does anyone know if/whether the agent used by desktop central is the same/compatible with the agent used by service desk plus? I have some agents and asset data in SD+ already, and I'd like to add desktop central into this (specifically for patch management) but I don't want to redeploy the agents or have to regenerate all of the asset data already configured in SD+.
