DC isn't syncing with SD+
Using DC feature to search Warranty Expire date at manufacturer (HP) site, work well. The problem I'm having is, DC isn't syncing that information with SD+. DC recognized SD+ integration and viceversa!! (checked already) SD+: 8.1.0 Build 8114 DC: 8.0.0 Build 80101 Is Expire date a valid synching information?
Exclude IE8 from deploying to 1 workstation
I have patch management set to deploy patches automatically upon approval. I also have two automated configuration templates defined: one for workstations, one for servers that is scheduled to deploy the approved patches at a particular time. There is one workstation that cannot run IE8 due to issues with a critical financial website that only functions properly with IE7 My question is: 1. Is there a way to deselect the particular workstation from receiving IE8 updates, without creating

desktop central sp1 - 80101
hi has anyone run into any issues with upgrade of desktop central to DC sp1? I am planning on doing this in the next few days but the client side agent update always makes me a bit nervous since i had some issues earlier in the year where the client agents on windows 2008 r2 stopped the server service and some other crucial services like networking. it has been fixed but am now always super carefull when it comes to updating the agents (in fact i turn of desktop central service on critical servers

Problem with swedish special characters åäö
Hi, We are running SDplus for about 6months now. We are now trying Desktopcentral. But when we syncronize all customers to desktopcentral from sdplus all the swedish characters are strange characters. is this normal? must i rename them all in sdplus first? i have also tried to rename them manually in desktopcentral but when i save the characters revert to looking strange. Custom Script in DC as User, but By Machine
So we have a VBS script we want to run on our computers and it needs to run under the users context. Normally we would do a Custom Script under the User config, however, I don't want the determination to be the USER that instigates the run, but the computer. The script suceeds when I run under User config cust script, but fails when done as a Computer config, my guess is that it runs there as the system account. Unfortunately there's no way under User custom script to select by Computer.
Will laptops download patches from vendors if they are offline.

What are the settings that need to be entered into 'Domain', 'User Display Name', 'Email Address' and 'Password' for setting you an email profile in MDM? I have tried various things and have not been successful. Tried a typical wildcard entry of %email% and it just shows up on the iPhone as %email% instead of having the EU's actual email address. Error copying installation folder
I'm running into a problem where I a software deployment configuration works fine when installing over the network, but once I select the "Copy folder to client machines" option it fails. I've verified that Everyone has read access to the files, which I know works because it can run the files over the network. We have some clients that are able to send a request to DC from the system tray icon by right-clicking the icon and selecting Send Request to Help Desk. On other clients when this procedure is attempted the EU receives a pop-up box that says Your Request could not be sent. What is the problem?

Missed Patch Tasks
I am new to Desktop Central. I have several automated patch scans tasks and deployments. What happens if the Desktop Central server or service is shutdown when an automated scan task is scheduled? Does the missed scheduled scan task kick off when Desktop Central restarts or is the task rescheduled to the next run time? Example: Scheduled patch scan weekly on Monday at 07:00:00. The server was down for the weekend. It is restarted on Monday at 10:00:00. What happens to the scheduled patch?

Hi, I have come across a discrepancy between the patches that Desktop Central think are applicable for our clients and what Windows Update shows as available updates. While this is an issue for most Desktops in our organisation, here in an example based on my laptop, which is Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit. Hi, I want to know is there any way to restrict some users who login through desktop central from remoting to Server Machines ? As administrator Install agent in all devices in the network all of them will be shown in the list of Remote Computer remotes and those technicians who have access to Remote Desktop can remote to any of the devices listed there, Is there any way to for example put server devices in a group and not to show them in the remote desktop lists ? Hi all, Is it possible to set an (Security) policy in DC for preventing users installing software? In this particular situation the users do not use Active Directory and the are all Local Administrator. If possible, only the Desktop Central operator is allowed to install software on the desktops. Anyone else seeing Windows 7 systems appearing to be non responsive with a black screen and blue rotating cursor?
We were experiencing this issue on many, but curiously not all, of our Windows systems both Windows 7 and XP. Additional indications: When CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed in an attempt to bring up the Task Manager so Resource Monitor could be started, following a lenghty delay, an error message would pop up stating "Failure to display security and shut down options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."

Getting "Incorrect Function" Remark
I am getting "Incorrect Function" Remark whenever trying to install the Nokia_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe I copy the file to the pc. it's stars running but when then it stops. When I launch the install file that is copied from the server to the pc, then it works fine. PatchID 12416 Logic Problem
Hi guys Not sure if anyone else has reported strange logic problems with PatchID 12416 (WindowsXP-KB2744842-x86-ENU.exe) ? I have lots of machines showing that the patch is missing so patched one of them this afternoon at 1:45 pm. The job shows status succesfull so the machine was rebooted. After rescanning the machine again though PatchID 12416 is still shown as required so i attempted to reinstall at 2:49 pm. This time the patch install failed with an error that the patch was already installed.

I dont have any kind of Active Directory/ similar kind of authentication in my organisation. 1. Is it possible to deploy Desktop Central and utilise all its features? 2. Will it require creation of a login with administrative privileges in windows desktops, which has a common id and password across all the desktops? 3. If it is essential to create administrative logins, can they be hidden from the users so they dont login into the special administrative login.

Patch "Not Applicable"
Hi, I am having an issue with deploying patches to our users PC's. We are testing deploying patches in our environment using java, specifically: 300381 and 300382. I have removed Java on the test PC's and attempted to install these updates. The keep showing as not applicable. So far I have: 1) Removed Software on target PC 2) Deleted any leftover reg keys 3) Reboot Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any plans to release a version of Deskop Central that can run on a Linux server? That is, DC on a Linux server that serves Windows clients? This would certainly save the cost of a server-class version of Windows.
Patch Misreporting?
Running Windows Update on one of my virtual machines reports that it requires 2 patches (KB2728973 and KB2687324) but Desktop Central reports that it is up to date and no patches are required? Is there a logic problem with these 2 patches? Logging support request now.

Windows 8 support ?
Our software developers are beginning to test their products on Windows 8 so although our company as a whole is not going to migrate to Windows 8, there will be some machines with the new OS on them which we want to patch with DC. When will DC officially support Windows 8 ? I have a test machine showing 25 patches need to be installed but when I go into the details of that machine it says it needs a scan. Deployment of software seems to work though.
