Anyone else seeing Windows 7 systems appearing to be non responsive with a black screen and blue rotating cursor?
We were experiencing this issue on many, but curiously not all, of our Windows systems both Windows 7 and XP. Additional indications: When CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed in an attempt to bring up the Task Manager so Resource Monitor could be started, following a lenghty delay, an error message would pop up stating "Failure to display security and shut down options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."

Getting "Incorrect Function" Remark
I am getting "Incorrect Function" Remark whenever trying to install the Nokia_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe I copy the file to the pc. it's stars running but when then it stops. When I launch the install file that is copied from the server to the pc, then it works fine. The strange thing is that when I run a local then during setup a small screen is show with the logo of Nokia. here is the command line I use "Nokia_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe" /SILENT="1" /DISABLEOPTIONS="CD" /D="AUTORUN" /D="ISCHECKFORPRODUCTUPDATES"

PatchID 12416 Logic Problem
Hi guys Not sure if anyone else has reported strange logic problems with PatchID 12416 (WindowsXP-KB2744842-x86-ENU.exe) ? I have lots of machines showing that the patch is missing so patched one of them this afternoon at 1:45 pm. The job shows status succesfull so the machine was rebooted. After rescanning the machine again though PatchID 12416 is still shown as required so i attempted to reinstall at 2:49 pm. This time the patch install failed with an error that the patch was already installed.
Whether Multiple logins to be created in Windows
I dont have any kind of Active Directory/ similar kind of authentication in my organisation. 1. Is it possible to deploy Desktop Central and utilise all its features? 2. Will it require creation of a login with administrative privileges in windows desktops, which has a common id and password across all the desktops? 3. If it is essential to create administrative logins, can they be hidden from the users so they dont login into the special administrative login.
PatchID 300370 (Ccleaner) - Location path incorrect

Patch "Not Applicable"
Hi, I am having an issue with deploying patches to our users PC's. We are testing deploying patches in our environment using java, specifically: 300381 and 300382. I have removed Java on the test PC's and attempted to install these updates. The keep showing as not applicable. So far I have: 1) Removed Software on target PC 2) Deleted any leftover reg keys 3) Reboot Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any plans to release a version of Deskop Central that can run on a Linux server? That is, DC on a Linux server that serves Windows clients? This would certainly save the cost of a server-class version of Windows.
Patch Misreporting?
Running Windows Update on one of my virtual machines reports that it requires 2 patches (KB2728973 and KB2687324) but Desktop Central reports that it is up to date and no patches are required? Is there a logic problem with these 2 patches? Logging support request now.

Windows 8 support ?
Our software developers are beginning to test their products on Windows 8 so although our company as a whole is not going to migrate to Windows 8, there will be some machines with the new OS on them which we want to patch with DC. When will DC officially support Windows 8 ? I have a test machine showing 25 patches need to be installed but when I go into the details of that machine it says it needs a scan. Deployment of software seems to work though.
Fonts not installing
I'm having trouble with the "Install Fonts" configuration template. After configuring the steps in the template (upload the font, input information for the registry key), the configuration reports that both steps were successful, but the font is not installed on any client computers. Has anyone had more success with font installation from Desktop Central? How can I get this working? EDIT: I'm using Desktop Central build 80039. I suspect that the detection algorithm for KB2647170 may be incorrect. When installing distribution server i do not have an option to change the default folder where will be located all msi and patch files. In most servers I do not have enoght free space on C drive, I need to change it to D,E or F drive letter Is it a way to install a distribution server and change the repository folder to another location?

Problem deploying Java 7 update 7 to 64bit computers
When I deploy Java 7 update 7 to my 32bit computer the install is successful but when I try to deploy it to my 64bit machines I get an error message about the "Installation package could not be opened".
DC Agent installation and imaging
Hi, We are using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit to create OS images which are then deployed to hundreds of workstations. The images are sysprep'ed, and we are wondering if it is possible to install the Desktop Central agent in animage and have it sysprep'ed, or if we have to install it after the image is deployed, or deploy it through the network. How is the the "agentID" (if any) generated ? Looking in the registry, maybe CompCanonicalName ? If the image is sysprep'ed, the computer name will change.

I am attempting to get a full understanding of this feature and how it works. I know now how to enable and disable it. One suggestion or the future. Once a support file has been created for ManageEngine we get an automated reply to confirm; "Your file has been uploaded successfully to our server. We will contact you as soon as possible" But there's no call reference number included? Fully patched systems show up as vulnerable
I have systems that show they are vulnerable and need MicroSoft Patchs (105 total) but the computers are fully patched. Desktop Central was installed 8/10/12 and the last scan in the Highly Vulnerables list also shows 8/10/12. I need to schedule this scan but have not found out how. The systems were checked yesterday and they perform automatic updates. Interestingly, these systems show under the inventory report that the last successful scan was 8/30 and they showed 8/29 yesterday. What am I overlooking

Hi, we are trialling Desktop Central as a possible replacement for LANDesk Mgmt Suite. Software usage reporting is critical to us, and whilst this product reports on usage a the Software level, no matter what I do, at the computer level software usage is always reported as UNKNOWN. The software compliance reports are only based on installed vs # of licenses. I also need to know if software is installed, is it being used, so we can harvest unused licences back for reuse. Our department has many workstations that are not part of AD nor do they have consistent WorkGroup names. We have customized the DC Agent installs by Branch Office. Is it possible to make the Branch Office selection the only selection in the Inventory?Computers screen? Automate Patch Deployment - Scan at startup and install at shutdown?
Hi all We use the Automate Patch Deployment feature (Scan systems, download and deploy approved missing patches) to scan all systems on a daily basis and install any missing patches which were approved before. If a computer is not switched on at the time the task runs, the missing patches are obviously not going to be detected and not installed. Is there an efficient way to circumvent this? As an example, is it possible to configure the automate patch deployment task to scan the computers at startup
How to export configurations?
Hi there We use several independent Desktop Central servers. We do however need certain configurations on all servers. Is there a way to export a configuration from one server and import it into the others? CCleaner and Chrome
This morning when I got to work I discovered that CCleaner and Chrome had been installed throughout the organization. I had not pushed either out via DC, so I am a bit puzzled as to how it got pushed out. The automatic patches were pushed out yesterday afternoon, so I am thinking that it must be related to that.
