CMDB Associations List View
Hi there, As Admin I can view the CMDB list view below. I find it the most useful. Users with the EnableCMDB role and full Asset Add/Edit/Delete aren't able to see this view? Do they need any additional permissions? TIA, Dave
PDQ Inventory integration with SDP Assets and SDP CMDB
Is there a plan for the integration of PDQ Inventory with SDP Assets and CMDB? The current state of the default scanning mode for SDP assets and CMDB is way below the PDQ Inventory.
Detecting Ci collisions (change)
On the current roadmap there is an item in design called: CHANGES Conflicts/Collision Detection Display collision/conflicts in the Change Details page when two changes have common CIs and contain overlaps in their schedules. We'd like to request the collision/conflict logic also review the 'Services Affected' field. We do not use the CMDB - few are - and therefore are not defining the specific CI in the change. Instead we highlight the service that is impacted by the change (Example: Exchange (email)
Domain/Network Scan attributes and relationships discovered
Hi, is it possible to know which attributes and relationships are discovered and automatically added in the CMDB during a domain/network scan? For example I know that softwares on a workstation or a server are automatically added as relations in the workstation after discovery. Thanks

I have the Agent installed on one of the Distribution Servers, but i do not see how to set it up as a remote scanning server. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Purge CMDB
Hi We use ServiceDesk Plus and have been using it for a number of years. The CMDB has been abandoned for some years now and contains a lot of legacy data. I would like to start to use the CMDB again but dealing with all the old data will be a little bit complicated. Does anyone know if it is possible to purge the CMDB to start from scratch? Thanks JB
SDP CMDB vs. ServiceNow CMDB
Can anyone share the advantages of using SDP CMDB over ServiceNow CMDB + Discovery module? As of today, SDP CMDB is not yet mature enough that we can use this to manage nearly 7,000+ assets. We want to store information of the following on the CMDB and get the relationship between these IT assets and it's relationship to an IT service: * Windows Server * Linux Server * Windows Desktop * Windows Laptops * Routers * Cisco IP Phones
CMDB Setup in Service Desk Plus Cloud Enterprise
Hello, could someone tell me where you go to setup the CMDB in SDP? I see assets and everything but no CMDB setup. On the website it does say it's included in the Enterprise Edition. Thanks

CMDB Baseline
Hello We are trying to implement the BAI10 Cobit process which refers to having a baseline for your CMDB. I was checking past posts and I found that this was requested in SDF-52890 4 years ago but I didn´t find any additional information. Is thsi a feature on SDP? if not, how do you recommend us to manage a quarterly snapshoy of the CMDB that we can use to track changes? Regards
REST API Documentation broken for CMDB operations
Hi, ServiceDesk Plus 9.4 build 9408, with PostgreSQL 9.2.4 REST API Documentation for some CMDB operations: "Add CI", "Get CI Details using criteria", and "Update CI" can't be tried. When you press the "Try now" button the response body is always like this: Regards, Pedro
Experience from implementing a CMDB
Hi, We are about to implement a CMDB in our organization and I would like some feedback from other users that have already implemented and are using it on a daily basis. I'd be very grateful if you could provide some material and answer the following questions: Did you at first implement the CMDB in a smaller scale with a limited scope, say for example a couple of departments and a limited amount of CIs? How large is your organization and how much time and resources did you calculate for the implementation?
Flag parent CI when a child is in repair
Is it possible to mark a parent CI in some way to show that a child is in repair? e.g I have my parent CI, then I have CI's under that which must be working for the parent to be OK. e.g I have a classroom as parent CI, then I have a projector as a child (through a 'Houses' relationship). If the projector is in repair then the classroom cannot be used. I would like to see that reflected in the parent CI somehow.
Need option to change acquisition date when receiving items in PO
We are trying to push the use of Assets / CMDB on SDP and we started by ensuring that all items are received from PO. After receiving the items, the "Date" when the user invoke Receive Items action is reflected as the "Acquisition Date". Without the option to mark the "Actual Acquisition Date". This is good if the employee took the action at the same time when the item arrived. However, in several cases, the Receive items action is done days, months or years after the item was actually received.
Error : No response received from workstation. Probably the workstation might be switched off or does not exist.
I am getting this error when doing a WMI scan: Error : No response received from workstation. Probably the workstation might be switched off or does not exist. Has any encountered this error? Here are the actions I did to ensure access to the scanned workstation: verified the correct credentials under Credentials Library - credential is correct. ping workstation via ip address - all good ping workstation via hostname - all good added the workstation IP address on CMDB > Workstation > Edit Workstation
Organizational roles in CMDB
Hi, Is it possible to list the organizational roles as CI's in the CMDB? An example for a use-case would be to tie a person with an organizational role as responsible for a server. SDP 9335 Regards, Alexander Nordin Region Halland
CMDB - Admin tab, Configuration Item Type configuration- Add Relationship selection box rendering incorrectly
ServiceDesk Plus Enterprise build 9301: The 'Relationship Type' dropdown box is not adaptive and ends up listing the Inverse Relationship option in a different row with an unrelated Relationship option if a custom Relationship Type name exceeds the set Character limit for the cell view in this list, e.g. Create a custom Relationship Type 20+ Characters long, e.g. Relationship = "is Senior SA (System Adminstrator) for" Inverse Relationship = "Senior SA (System Adminstrator) is" Go to a Configuration
Delete Unused Support Groups
I'm currently on 9302 on our production environment and noticed we have a ton of unused support groups. When I click the Support Group CI in 9302 I am unable to select the other sites that are associated with these group. We currently use "Default Settings" for each sites Support Groups. In our development environment (9316) it looks like the feature to specify the site associated with the Support Group which made it very easy to delete the unused and unwanted Support Groups. My question is, how
Remove Support Groups from Custom Views Tab?
We had changed some of the names of previous Support Groups, and when we did, they remained in the CMDB. When I select "Support Group" in CMDB of the available CI's, these do not show up. However, if I view "All CIs" and search the entire list for one it shows up as the CI type Support Group. Now, while this doesn't bother me as most technicians can't see the CMDB, these groups still show up when a user tries to create a view. All of the following groups are no longer in the Active or Inactive list
Collapse and expand every relationship in relationship map
Hi, I want to print some relationship model and map, but I don't want to print all relationship that related to some CI. because of that I need to Collapse and expand feature for every relationship. Thanks
How to add MS SQL or Oracle instance software in CMDB
Hi, I want to add my Oracle or MS SQL instance to CMDB with import from CSV, but I can't find it in import -> CI type. Also I want to add Oracle or MS SQL instance as manually, I see a software field that is mandatory and it's empty like this: What should I do? How to add database instance in CMDB?
How to associate software like MS SQL to incident as asset
Hi, I want to attach my database software as asset in incident form. Already I don't see software as asset. What should I do? Thanks
Associate CI to request service or incident
Hi, It's very essential that associate CI to request service or incident. Thanks
Change default CI structure
Hi, I wanna to change structure default CI. For example default CIs are: - Access Point - Business Service - Cluster - Datacenter . . . - Network I wanna to change above to this: - Network |_ Access Point |_ Cluster |_ Datacenter What should I do?
Sorry an error has occurred - Custom Report (CMDB)
If we run a customer report against CMDB module, it runs fine. However, if we filter by Desktop or Laptop, we get the large warning triangle and "Sorry an error has occurred" message. If I try and edit the report, I get the following errors in a pop up window: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "null" at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(NumberFormatException.java:65) at java.lang.Long.parseLong(Long.java:441) at java.lang.Long.(Long.java:702) at com.adventnet.servicedesk.reports.action.ReportRequestHandler.editReport(ReportRequestHandler.java:334)
Rest API to Add Requesters
I'm trying to come up with a way of automating requesters without using the AD sync functionality (It's a complicated mess, but we can't pull from the AD, directly). I'm able to add a requester using the Rest API, but I don't seem to be able to add extra information like: Login name, domain, password, first name, last name. All those attributes cause the api call to return an error with "invalid column names". Is this a thing where I have to add the requester, then immediately update them? Thanks
CMDB Attributes with Atrributes
ME, We are moving more and more processes into our automation tools. What I am talking about is highlighted below: What I am trying to solve for is what is listed below: I have many containers in an xml config file. Each Container has one or more attributes. Container <name>TMOBridge_Container</name> <serialized>False</serialized> <connection_type>DB_ONLY</connection_type> <restart_on_date_rollover>true</restart_on_date_rollover> <message_loop_class> services.WTMOBridge.TMOTBridge.TMOABridge
CMDB Cloud Functionality
When will the SDP Cloud version support the same CMDB functionality as found in SDP On-Premise? Ex. CI and relationship management diagram as shown here: https://www.manageengine.com/products/service-desk/itil-cmdb.html?dwnftr
Adding Sites to Multiple CIs at once
Dear ManageEngine, Our company is currently using ServiceDesk plus version 9.2 Build 9211. On our CMDB, we have populated over 4,000 items in different CI's. We also have many new sites created in ServiceDesk plus. Is there a quick and easy way that we can add the specific Sites to all the existing items? Thanks, Eddy
Asset CI's
When I'm in the CMDB and moving assets around the CI categories, I came across an inconsistency. Under the CI called Workstation, I created 2 sub categories called Laptop and Desktop. When I'm attempting to move the laptops into their own CI, my CI names are not listed. Did I create the categories wrong? Please see the attachment.
Asset editing issue persists after update from 9207 to 9214
So we have an interesting issue, that is also being looked at by support (#7412811). We cannot successfully edit non-CI type assets in the Asset nor the CMDB tab. (Attempting results in a Failure error) We cannot modify CI types in the CMDB tab. (i.e. changing a tablet from a workstation CI type to a tablet CI type. When done, nothing happens... no error.) We cannot modify Asset types in the Asset tab. (Also causes a Failure error, which is probably tied to the first issue in this list) When I took
Two Important Recommendations that affect Assets, CMDB, and Purchase Order Module
I've spent the past year trying to implement all the modules of SDP and increase our ITIL maturity. In order to get to the next level with SDP, I need to ask the super development team to (again) consider some fundamental changes. Assets In order to understand what is on our network (using SDP), we take advantage of the Asset Scan. The Asset Scan has allowed us to quickly ramp up on about 10,000 IP devices across over 150 locations. I understand that running an IP scan, however, brings any detected
CMDB CI's hide or delete
Hello guys, We are doing a lot of work on the CMDB. However there are a lot of CI's default installed that are not deletable or cannot be hidden. Is this something that can be done in the future somehow please? For example: Document, IPS, NTP, Room sensor, IBM Mainframe, Unix server, AIX server, HPUX server, Mac server, Solaris server, DB2, Sybase, Cisco IP Phone, Video encoder, IBM Workstation, Unix workstation, AIX workstation, HPUX workstation, Linux workstation, Mac workstation, Solaris workstation
Flagging items under Configuration Management
Folks, I had previously posted about this, but I didn't see a response so I'll try again: We'd like to use the CMDB in the traditional fashion, which is to say we only want to manage the configuration of certain items, not of everything that is discovered. For example, I have about 600 servers, but not all of them are production servers and not all of them need to be under configuration management? Since they are being populated in the CMDB, is there a tag, a flag, or a state that I can assign to
Where can I add 'End of support' date details to software?
Where can I add 'End of support' date details to software? We are building out our CMDB and assets module. I want to be able to see within a CI what the end of support details are when I look at a relationship map, for example if I have a sql 2005 install, I want to be able to see it is end of support in April 2016 within the map
Powershell query CMDB
Hi I'm trying from Powershell query the cmdb with the provided API. Its not going so well :( The code I have is the following and is resulting in permission denied html 401 error $bodycmdb = @{OPERATION_NAME="READ";TECHNICIAN_KEY="$testkey";} $resultcmdb = Invoke-RestMethod -Uri "$server/api/cmdb/ci/list/server/" -Method Post -body $bodycmdb The below code that uses the api to query a request works like it should and returns an xml with the info of the request. $bodyrequest = @{OPERATION_NAME="GET_REQUEST";TECHNICIAN_KEY="$testkey";}
CI name changes from host name to IP address after network scan
When I do a network scan of a group of VMware ESX host servers, the CI name for some of them reverts to the IP Address. For others it remains set to the host name. Can anyone explain why this behaviour occurs. All of the host names are correctly registered in DNS. Thanks, Roy
CMDB, assets & solutions problem after upgrade to 9111
Dear forum members and support team, after upgrading from 9100 to 9111 we found out, that CMDB, Assets and Solutions tabs shows nothing (tested in newest Chrome and IE11 browsers). CMDB and Assets hangs in 'Loading...' Solutions tab shows titles, but returns an error if trying to open it. Solutions itself accessible via 'Copy to resolution' button in requests, but we no longer can open it or edit: HTTP Status 500 - type Exception report message description The server encountered an internal error
CI Type is not default upon Item Discovery / Identifycation
Hi, Some scanned software correctly discovered through an agentless, network scan won't get its respective CI Type associated (see image below). Is this the expected behaviour? P.D: Other software items such as "Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard" discovered using the same method do get this CI Type right after scanning. Thanks. Juan
