URL monitor dependencies
I'm wondering if there is a way to set up dependencies for url monitors. This feature would come in handy when our internet connection goes down, and don't have the ability to monitor urls out on the internet. Dependencies work great for the devices we monitor, now if only they worked for urls as well...
Cannot create IP Groups and summarize?
Hi all, I have recently downloaded the eval version of netflow and I cannot create IP groups?!? The item is not under Admin operations?!? Furthermore - Is is possible to summarize all interfaces to view application traffic? regards, Philip
OP Manager V.s Nagios
Guys, im in the process of testing both the aformentioned products for our IT dept. Would anybody have a pro's and con's on each solution. Personally i would like to use OPmanager but there are some advantages to using Nagios as well. Any help would be appricated

MySql error 2003 can't connect to mysql server
hy everybody, i installed on the same machine how opmanager is installed a mysql administrator gui. when i connect to the mysql server i become follow error message: (screenshot) the user and passphrase that i try, is the local administrator account from the windows server. wy can't connect to the mysql server? what's for usernames and phasphrases funding opmanager by the installation from mysql? thanks for help chris

Notify technician when a requester updates a ticket
Is there a way to notify the engineer when a requestor adds notes to the ticket...the same as when the requestor gets a mail when the ticket is updated? we need this so that engineers know when tickets are updated.

I have enabled the "Notify requester by mail when the request is updated ". I am getting complaints that they are receiving emails, stating that the job has been updated but it shows no change to the job in the email. I have tracked it down to when I allocate or change the technician on the job, it registers as a change in SD and sends off an email telling the requestor that it has been updated but no changed can be seen from the email. monitoring a process in Applications Mgr
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to monitor a process on a system. It doesn't fit in the already setup monitors, it's basically a dos window that pops up when a custom application is run & needs to stay up. If the window (process) dies, I need to be notified. I've tried reading through the posts here, but all the process mgt info I can find are not specifically with Applications mgr. Thanks in advance.

We are looking to have external parties access our Service Desk installation to pick up and handle their own requests. As an example a software development house who write one of our systems receive fix requests that we would like them to access. We do not however want them to be able to search any other database except for requests that are assigned to them. All, I'm new to OPMan so please excuse the barrage of posts, I am evaluating the program for potential purchase by comparing it to my current one. I end up with a lot of problems confusion and queries so I've spent hours configing and searching the kbase and forums. I've noticed that when a device goes down, like say a FreeBSD box I have just did around 2am, it generates the appropriate alarm: Device not responding: Probably down or busy This alarm seems to stay in this state until the admin clears
Making changes
I'm new to the forum and before we buy this product we have a few concerns. I'm curious about a couple of things: 1. it has configuration options for SNMP: how does it use them? If it wants to query the routers, and if we choose to let it, we need to change the SNMP community string from public to lr0nly (lrOnly is our network). 2. can we change the port speed? 1000000 bps is not correct. 3. how did it learn about the two interfaces on each router? Did you tell it, or did it get that out of the data?

As an ISP I have several 7500 and 7200 series routers that host customer ckts. Cisco 2924 Switch
Hi I've just installed OpManager. I did a discovery on my network and had to manually search for my Cisco 2924 switches by IP address. I recategorized them once they were found as Cisco 2924 XL switches, however I wasn't sure how to do the port monitoring. I've tried going to port configuration and checking off the monitor and notify boxes but I don't seem to get any info showing in my monitor window for the switches. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks

When I hit the Save/Submit Requst button I received the following error message: "Please input a value number for the field under Additional Request Details" I am working off of a eMac/Netscape v.7.2. How AD Authentication Works ( SDP Build Version 4106 )

AD Userid - Case Sensitive
OK, I realize this is a minor issue, but it would be great if the userid for Active Directory authentication was not case sensitive. End-users really have trouble with this one.............please let me know if this is on the road-map to fix or not. Rather than importing the userIDs into the app - just performing LDAP auth would seem to fix this problem.......thanks.
Batch deleting multiple interfaces
All, I have several Cisco AS5300s that I have loaded into the program. My problem is that I only need to monitor the 8 or so T1s, not the other 100 or so interfaces that represent the modems. Unmanaging them took care of polling, but it is still a task everytime the page loads and must build out for all of those interfaces. Is there a way to delete all the interface I do not, and do not ever plan to manage? Thanks in advance, Ryan

tcp port based 'send-string/match response' monitoring
In converting my company from Sitescope to OpManager I didn't consider that OpManager might be missing a basic 'send-string/match response' type monitor. We have OODLES of inhouse applications that we routinely need to check the health status of through a simple query/response on a tcp port. hypothetical example: connect to port 12345 send string "HELO HEALTHY?" if server responds "YES" then everything is okay, if server responds otherwise, consider that 'service down' at the very least if OpManager

Windows Service Monitor - What is the interval?
Did a quick search so that I could inform our SQL DBAs. We had a false down service notification which I suspect was just a blip in network communication. The downed notification was immediately followed by the service clear notification. Would like to just inform them of the interval period between service monitors. Since we are using RedHat 2.1, 3 as well as version 4 I created a new command that will give me the amount of used CPU on all these versions: sar -u 1 1 | grep Average | grep -o '[0-9|\.]*$' | grep -o '^[0-9]*' You will need the sysstat package for this to work (up2date sysstat). SNMP for monitoring CPU usage is not an option on RedHat, the OID used in OpManager for net-snmp is deprecated
