Barcode Readers and compatability
We have just started using ServiceDesk Plus, and I have the situation where my office has over 300 workstations, all with Asset tags and bar codes. 1) Can I get a portable barcode reader to read these barcodes? if so whats the recommended make and model? 2) If I get a barcode reader how does that data then get transferred into the software database? Can anyone help me with these questions? Help would be very much appreciate.
Alarm Escalations
Thanks to Gabriel for the tip on adding comma delimited addresses to the "To:" field on the Notification Profiles setup. That is going to help me overcome a large stumbling block I have. Along the same lines; I think the Escalation set up (Admin>Alarm Escalation) is a little too broad scoped. Correct me if I am interpreting this wrong, but let's say I have an alarm on one of my MX server, SMTP is down. I have the notification profile unix-mx-admins consisting of two SMS addresses and two email addresses
MySQL consumes all of the server's resources
os: RHEL4 x86 hw: p4 2.4Ghz with HTT enabled 2048 MB RAM startup stops at: DBServer process [STARTED] and just hangs there... while accessing the WebConsole, bundled MySQL server spawns 5 processes which take up all of the RAM and CPU time.. please advice....
Percentage still over 100%

Notification per service
Hi, I have linux server that has apache and oracle installed on it. Would it be possible to configure the notification in such a way that if the oracle server goes down notify the DB administrator and if the Apache server has a problem notify only the system administrator. HotSpot VM error
Hi! I had OpManager running on Suse Enterprise Server 9.0. After running for a few day, it display "Internal Server Error" on browser client after login. The OpManager stop working and there are errors hs_err_pidxxxx.log on Opmanager Home Directory. After reboot, it will work for a few days and repeat the error...
Date sources other then SNMP
Is it possible to create data sources or service monitors other then SNMP? Like scrip or something for devices/services that do not support SNMP or WMI
OPManager on Linux : server start problem
Hi all, I'm trying to test OPManager but after installation on Linux Fedora Core 2 I had a problem starting the server.I receive a message saying that the port 80 is occupied by another application. I tried to change http port to 9090 with OPManager tols and also on the httpd.conf but also on the port 9090 I freceive the same message. Could you help me? Thanks Stefano

Hello, We frequently use the "E-Mail Requester" button on open requests, but have the following questions. 1) Is it possible to notify a technician that a requester has submitted an email which has been automatically added to an open ticket? For example, we will email a requester asking for more info and they will respond to the email. Domain Scan
When scanning another domain at another location it has returned a list of IP addresses but no details and one correct scan returning all details of the PDC server? The domains are trusted both running AD mixed equipment of W2K, XP and Server 2000, 2003 Also getting No response received from workstation. Probably the workstation might be switched off or does not exist. but it is known to be on and working?
Win9x Inventory
Please can anyone help me with the "Inventory Scanning" of win 98 machine??? 1)I have installed WMI from microsoft.com. 2)I have installed DCom from microsoft.com. 3)In registry "local machine\software\microsoft\ole\" i have enabled remote access of Dcom. Still Win98 machines in my network cannot be scanned(I have tried on 3 win98 systems). I can however scan Winxp and win2000 machines. Its working perfectly fine on these operating systems. Please help me immediately i need to implement it!
Exception:Reading/Parsing MIB
Hi, i am currently working with the SNMP/Traps/MIBs stuff. Whenever i want to load a MIB into the MIB-Browser, i get the following message in the box: Exception:Reading/Parsing MIB:java.io.FileNotFoundException: Could not open file C:/Program The path in real should be "c:\program files\ ...." - is there an issue with blanks in the file path ? - is ist possible to correct this ? System is WinXP SP1
broken backgroung images
In ServiceDesk Plus v4.1.0 bn4109 on my "Requests" tab the images "filterbg.gif" and "wo_view_bg.gif" are broken. I have attached a screenshot. When I resize the window to about half its size the images appear correctly. Changing screen resolutions and color displays does not solve the problem.
Mail icon is not lit green

Could you tell me what ports are used by this to perform inventory. I currently have laptop users who have a firewall installed for when they travel, but I want to be able to scan their laptop.

Technicien groups through AD
Will it be possible to create just a group in AD and assign (eg: 5 licenses for 5 user) instead of having to create a new login for each Technician. Then "automatic logon on intranet zone" option could be added and make life alot easier.

Is there any way to setup support groups? For example, we have three groups of IT staff, desktop, applications and infrastructure; if a call is logged by helpdesk for say, the applications team, is there any way of having technicians setup so they can view calls in that group (aswell as there own)? I just want to segregate the calls so we all don�t just look at a big pool of calls. If a call can be logged and at that point be assigned to a specific group, and an email is then sent to all members
Failure while saving technician details
I have recently installed the trial version of ME ServiceDesk Plus. I am using the AD to import my requestors, but I need some of those requestors to be technicians. When I attempt to add/save the technician it give me an error (code: 1127837025987. If anyone could help me get this setup properly I would greatly appreicate it. Suzanne

Custom Reporting on Services
I might just be missing something so I thought I'd ask.... I'm trying to generate an availability report on the SMTP service for a given machine but the services aren't listed in the Available Metrics section of the reporter. Could someone point me int he right direction. On a tangent, if I could generate a report for all SMTP services that would be even better. Sorry if this has been answered in the past. unable to retrieve events if dcom is disabled on system
It seems that eventlog analyzer cannot collect the events from remote windows servers where dcom is disabled. I cannot find on the site if this is required or not. Can it work if dcom is disabled on remote systems?
netflow and NAT
hello this my network : LAN -[gateway]- DMZ - [firewall] - internet all traffic is masqued (NAT) in the gateway with 192.168.22.25 (example) then all traffic is masqued a second time with our public address i have netflow on the gateway i see traffic like this : LAN-192.168.22.25-port 80 so i don't see the public address of the web site how can i do that (AS ?) ? for info, i can enable netflow on the firewall
