snmp passwords

pick the server I want to look at:

Then to the right is the password panel

It has the snmp details, and then another window that has
Login details

username
password

I am using a user that has monitor rights to the win2k3 server.
Is this password that is sent to login, in the clear or is it somewhat encrypted.?
