Device status
I need to monitor the status of some IP camera's. OpManager needs to check if the camera is up for every 15 minutes. If the camera is down, it should directly send me a mail. If the camera is down for more than 60 minutes (4 polls) it should send me a SMS (this is a mailbox that forwards the message to SMS). We found SDP is great for PCs and Linux/Windows Servers,but how to add network devices like routers and switches into inventory? Will it scan the network and add them with SNMP rather than telnet?

Hello following my earlier 'guest' post I have been playing with the settings using both Syslog and Webtrends reporting from a Netscreen 25. You said I should only select one of these, so I have now selected Syslog on port 514. I have deleted the second syslog server running on port 1514. Is that normal? ssh Cpu Utilizastion
Hi Guys I am currently switching between opmanager 5.5 on linux to Opmanager 5.6 on windows How ever when performing the cpu utlization via ssh it is not working. I have noticed there is a change between 5.5 and 5.6 intowards the command it runs to retrieve the information 5.5 /usr/bin/vmstat 1 3 5.6 top b n 1 | grep 'CPU[0-9]* states:' All other resource monitoring via ssh is working fine At this stage I do not want to use ssh Please advise me on how to fix this problem

Since yesterday high cpu load (50% java.exe)
Hi, we've opmanager since a few month. since yesterday the the server has a very high cpu load (constant 50% by java.exe). there is no discovery in progress, we didn't have added new devices. i turned off opmanager, execute repairdb.bat an restart the server - but this has no effect. before yesterday the cpu load was about 3-5% Opmanager: 6.002 Java: 1.4.2_08 Any idea? thanks, martin
Mandatory Fields 2
I would also like to see manadatory fields added before a request can be closed, such as time spent on the request. A better option might be to add the "time entry functionality to the "enter resolution" window. That way a technician could enter a resolution then add a time entry and then click "save and close" all ffrom the same window. Thanks Meso

I find the configuration of event log rules rather confusing. Our previous monitoring software was designed so that user notification profiles specified the level of event that the user wanted to see (warning, critical, error, etc.), but other than that, all events for that level and above were alerted by default. Attching a large number of assets to workstations
Hi, I have a large number of workstations configured in my installation of SD+ and an even larger number of assets which need to be attached to the workstations. I also need to fill in the serial number and asset number for some of these assets (which can be derived from the the workstations' details). To use the GUI to do this bulk update would take forever, so I would like to write some SQL to do this. Could you please let me know which tables and fields need to be updated in order to attach workstations

Squid Imported logs schedule not working
I'm using Firewall Analyzer trial since nearly a week now. I'm very impressed by this software and we are considering to buy it. One point which interrest we a lot is the Squid proxy analysis. So I have setup a log import every 10 min via FTP for my access.log, store.log and cache.log. It works fine, the only issue is : the schedule is not working. Any idea why ? anythink I missed ? Problem clearing/deleting alert

Missing Events
Hi, We are testing OpManager in parallel with some other products and we have noticed OpManager occasionally misses Events. I have event monitoring set for 30 seconds, and monitoring of domain controllers set to 1 minute. For the time being, I am only testing for accounts being locked out or unlocked. I would say we miss 2-3 events out of 10. Any suggestions??? Thanks Matt
ServiceDesk Integrations Issues
Using the demo of Opmanager 6005 and ServiceDesk 5501 I setup Add-On/Product Settings in Opmanager. Whenever I click on ServiceDesk within Opmanager I get the assets details but when I attempt to go back to Opmanager, I get the following: "Your session had been timed out for security reasons. Please re-login." Another issue is that when I click on some devices I receive the message "Unable to fetch Hardware Details from ServiceDeskPlus. " -I have verified that the device does exist in ServiceDesk.
Can I monitor a UNIX system using commands
I am trying to monitor specific things happening in my Linux based Jasomi Peerpoint. The item I am trying to monitor is displayed when I logon to the device and issue a "show count" command. This shows me the number of registrations on the Peerpoint. How can I monitor and graph this? Thanks,

Forward in a request it not shown on the conversations
Hi We use the forward function on the request system to log the problem with one of our 3rd party support companies and with a attachment. However Forwards do not show up on the request conversation can this be fix so we have a full audit of communication for a request. Users can't access servicedesk+
I cannot view the service desk application via web http://hostname:8080 on any computer other than the server. It just times out over and over again. I am able to connect to it via the server local desktop. Please make a help suggestion. Thank you.

Oputils no longer starts

Backup and report question
Since version 5500 some major changes are done on SD+. But i have 5 questions about them: 1. Why are backups put in a seperate folder each time? Why not the old way of putting all files just in the backup folder. Now I have to browse to an extra folder, also my cleanup scripts which I used to delete old backups is not working anymore. 2. Reports are nice, but there is no report to view closed requests by technicians. I want to know how much tickets a technician has closed. 3. Before version 5500
SNMP only working for SOME monitors
Im working on setting up all our Cisco switches, routers and access points to use SNMP. I have been successful on about 10 and having problems on 4 ... and I have 40 more to configure. The problem that Im having is that I configure snmp on the switch, and then set up the monitors in opManager, test them and one, say the CP Utilization will work and then the Memory Utilzation wont work... however if I come back to the snapshot an while later they will work... it seems very intermitent. Any suggestions?
QEngine Scripts
When trying to add a QEngine script, I get the error message "Description file type.prop does not exist in"... with the path to the .tst file. The instuctions for integrating AppManager with QEngine appear to be out of date (they reference a file called "CommandLineWebPerfTest.bat" which does not appear to exist in the newer version of QEngine). Can you provide any updated help on using a QEngine script file with Application Manager? Thanks!
Netflow 5.5 EA Reports
I want to schedule a report that will be issued at lunchtime and summarises the morning's activity. Is there a way of doing this? There seems to be a time filter available but this only appears when the 'Previous 24 hours' option is selected. However, if one sets it it seems to be ignored or does strange things to the data. I just tried two exact same reports, one with the filter and one without and the results were not the same. It is not mentioned anywhere on the help page. What does this parameter

Exchange 2003 & Incoming Mail now not working
Well we upgraded our mail server to 2003 finally from 2000 and now it no longer can connect to the mailbox. I know you say it isn't supported but the fact remains that it has been working. Also the system log doesn't have any errors which is strange, I started the service to see if it would produce an error but I only get it when i try to save the details. FAILURE :Email Settings saved successfully. But error occured while trying to check connection with mail server - Problem connecting to mailbox.
