Linux load monitoring
Can Opmanager monitor the load levels on Linux machines? Every other monitoring software we have ever had could do it but i cannot see in here how this one does it. Any enlightenment would be nice. Thank you

OPManager Memory lockup
Several issues have occurring and I need some assistance. 1. I cannot view tab labels using the Java client. I was told this was fixed in 5510 but still have the same issue. 2. OPManager will constantly freeze and show network discovery happing for days at a time. XP Task Manager shows Java using over 250MB of memory. I stop the server and reboot the machine but the problem will evetually happen again. The memory leak I have read about still seems to happen on this machine. 3. Networks that I have
get alarmed with unmanaged/unnotified interfaces
OpManager 5.5 build 5510. Router Cisco 2810 with interfaces fa 0/0, fa 0/1, fa 0/0/0 to fa 0/0/3, vlan 1 to vlan 4 amd some virtual interfaces. Only fa 0/0, fa 0/1 and vlan3 are selected to manage and notify but OpManager keeps setting the router in alarm state "Trouble" with message "FastEthernet0/0/3 is down, Vlan1 is down, Virtual-Template1 is down, Virtual-Access1 is down". Starting Apache Separately
Hi, I'm running WebNMS on linux machine. I've seen all the posts on adding libraries to your bundled apache. But that seems quite difficult. I don't want to install Debian either. Anyway, I have my own apache server running. And I can change the document directories to the WebNMS directory so that all the jar files are found. However, now when I run startnms, it would check the port 9090 (that's what I set for my apache) and gives an error that the port should be freed up. If I modify the startwebserver
Stand Alone URL monitor - adding second Send To Address
.. silly question. I've tried seperating a second email address here with a comma, and with a semi colon, but the second email address does not get notified. Is it not an option to add a second email address on the Send To line?

Hi, Were having trouble discovering and monitoring all the interfaces on our adtran 3000's. after installing the mibs in the mib directory and even loading them in the mib browser we are still unable to discover and monitor all the interfaces on our adtran 3000
Error in downloading client files from BE
Starting this AM, we get an error message when connecting to OpManager - Error in downloading client files from BE. I upgraded to the Service Pack last week and it worked after. Anyone know how to fix this?

Router loses display name on rediscover
On one of my routers with multiple E1 interfaces, I have gone in and put in more detailed information into the Display Name Field. When I issue a rediscover, the information I entered is lost and replaced wih what it picks up from the router. How can I change this that it always retains what I have entered.

Cant graph Custom Mib Variable
I am currently evaluating OpManager 5 for my company. A colleague cannot seem to graph a custom variable for an HP Laserjet 5 printer (no of pages printed). The OID is .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.4.2.2.10.2.1.5.1.1. How do I add an air conditioner category to the Infrastruct
We have a Liebert Air Conditioner. it is SNMP enabled with proper community strings. What category do you recommend I add it to? It is not a server, nor a UPS, and not a desktop computer.

SNMP Traps
I'm just starting to get the hang of the SNMP traps. It took a while to get them working until I found a message on the forum about turning off Windows' own Trap Processor service. It might be helpful to others to publish this tidbit more prominently, or better yet, have OpMan notify on startup that it cannot processor Traps because the OS service is running. DNS Resolution
For some reason the Ops Manager interface will not resolve hostnames when I select that option. DNS is setup and running and I can resolve these hosts on any other external DNS, and the DNS server is also running on the same machine...any ideas?
Dashboard on Home-page shows no info
Hi, I have been experimenting with the XML files a bit yesterday and now i discover that the dashboard section on the home-page is empty. Only the header (Text dashboard on a blue background) is shown. Which file could i have corrupted that will cause this?
Problem loading traps from MIBS
Hi We are having trouble in loading trap processors fra MIBS. On a test installation (Build 5510) on a Windows 2003 SP1 server this works fine - allthough you only can do this, when you are logged in as Admin - with any other user the option "load traps processors from MIB" is not displayed. On our main Opmanager server (Windows 2000 Server with SP4), you can see the list with MIBS, but when you select one to see the traps in the MIB, nothing happens. The MIB, we are trying to use, is IBM-SERVERAID.
Data table questions
I am running some ad hoc queries through an ODBC connection to the OpManagerDB but am having difficulty understanding the data that is being captured in a few of the tables. The Performance Database Schema developer guide I found on your site does not address these questions. 1) Is there a lookup table for the Val captured in the statsdata% table? Looking at one device for today, the Val during the poll time changes from 8 to 126 to 207 to 152, etc. Which value indicates the device is up vs. down?
Unable to delete Resource Monitors
Attempts to delete a resource monitor after assigning to a server report "graph deleted successfully" but the item still shows up in the resource monitor section.
Can't use Opmanager client after upgrade to 5510

Importing from a database possible?
'Lo all. I hope I can explain this properly. I was wondering if it's possible to populate OpManager from a database instead of the discovery feature (or in addition to). We have all of the devices we want to monitor in a local database on one of our servers with all the information we need, IP address, serial#, location, etc etc. Is there a way to get that information (from an MSAccess table) into OpManager ? Soldier in Iraq needs help setting up a network
I am a soldier in Iraq with some networking knowledge. We have just installed a new internet satellite. We have a slight problem with keeping everyone connected, some will be able to get one while others are not. We have a 24 port unmanaged switch by Trendnet, satellite bandwidth that is supposed to support up to 29 people. We only have 19 people on at a given time. We suspect spyware on some computers eating up all the bandwidth and not allowing others to be able to connect. We are semi newbies

unable to start opmanager server after upgrading to sp1
hi, for your information, i just apply the sp1 patch on win xp with promising specs. it works well before and just recently, it fails to start the opmanager server properly. the popup applet shows that the configuration complete yet it just seems hanged. there was no web browser login screen come out as well.. i tried to stop and restart the opmanager service for several time but the same probem still occur. help me, thanks in advance for your prompt respond. regards, Husain DBC
Network Rediscovery how does it work?
Hi All, I'm just looking at the OpManager 5.5 product and am quite impressed so far. I have downloaded the 10 device free version, added a server, a router, 2 different brand switches and like what I have seen so far. One setting that concerns me is the rediscovery option. It seems that the maximum the rediscovery can be set for is 15 days. We have two websites which OpManager is frequently seeing as "host unavailable", however try as we might, when we check the website, as soon as opmanager sees it as down, we find: a) the website is available b) OpManager is sending us a clear notification Increasing the threshold setting has not seemed to alleviate the notifications. I think we are at the point, that I need OpManager to check "twice" before determining the site is down. We have a failover device which checks the website every 3 seconds
Opmanager will not start - error on web page
After a plain 'vanilla' restart of the server, Opmanager will not run either the client or the web client - service seems to be running. The web client reports the following error - ''Error in downloading client files from BE'' - any suggestions ?? The ordinary client behaves as though the server is not running - both when running locally on the server and as a remote client.
Unable to create trap processor for Netscreen MIB
Hello all, I've downloaded the netscreen MIB posted somewhere in this forum and was able to load it using the MIB Browser. I've loaded the NS-SMI followed by the NS-TRAPS and all were ok up to this point. When I create a new SNMP trap processor and select Load from MIB, I get this error. IMPORTS failed: Could not open file C:/Program Files/AdventNet/ME/OpManager/./mibs/NETSCREEN-SMI The required MIB is already loaded, but I see a /./ separator between OpManager/./mibs Why is it there?
