Hi all, A couple of questions about moniting a network device interface utilisation. The first one is to ask how the traffic graph data is collected, is done using the 5 minute average data available for the router, OR, is it done the way cricket does it, which is to get the total number of bits and substract from that the last total number of bits? unpacking failed
Hi, I tried to install opManager v.7 on my son's computer and got the error message: "unpacking failed". System installed is Microsoft Windows Xp Professionel Titanium Edition SP2 (num�ro 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254:Service Pack 2). See the attachment for files in my dir. Changing default port for SSH login
Dear OpManager Support Team I do like OpManager7 to login to devices using SSH but I have devices which do not run SSH on port 22 but use anotther port instead. Is it possible to tell OpManager7 to connect on another port instead of 22 ? Thanks. Baek

I just installed the finall version about 2 hours ago and it is still stuck discovering devices at 0% Discover Status Log Details Finding all the reachable devices .... This is the final version isnt it? what gives?

SNMP String Value
I request SNMP Values from an Temperature Measure Software. Unfortunately OpManager isn't able to use String Values for his graphs (but get them in the Monitor Test and the MIB Browser?). Is there any possibility to get the correct Values (for example I get the Values with *10 and OpManager calculates with /10 for the graph or something else)? If this is not possible, where can I format the graphs so that the Zero Line isn't Zero Value?
Custom Monitor Issue
Hi I have custom monitor that test mailq size. I have tested the the SNMP with the following command from the server: snmpwalk -Os -c PASS -v 1 HOST .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.8.1.101. That works fine. But when I test the monitor I get: The Monitor did not respond to the test request The Opmanager is running on Linux. Thanks in advace. Ryan

error and white screen
I am setting up opmanger and i am trying to monitor servers over a VPN. Discovery find the servers, but when I try to change using the device type button I get a whote screen with the word error on it. Tha is it. Any ideas? Lucky
Op Manager 7 -- not able to set thresholds
If I try to set a threshold on a disk partition, no threshold is set. I can set a threshold on overall disk usage, but not on a particular partition. Since the main use for us is monitoring servers to ensure no out of space errors, monitoring partition thresholds is critical. Additionally, the 6.0 version wizard could set thresholds for system monitors easily. How can I set a threshold for ALL of my servers without visitng each of them? Performance Monitor and Business view creator
Hello, i'm using OP manager v6 and i'm trying to have the same result with OP manager 7 ... I meet 2 problems : - no possibility to greate and assign performance counter (with thresholds) on a large number of nodes - Business view creator doesn't allow me to create a blank view (with only my .jpg background) which i will use to put my shortcuts. thanks for your help, C�dric
Report Parameters
Is it possible to add a "Time Window" parameter for 6am to 6pm in server availability reports? Or, if there was a way to conveniently change the 8am - 8pm option to another range that would work too.
Cisco ports not showing up
I am using 7.0 GA version and on one of my cisco 6509's, a group of ports on a couple different modules are not showing up when I view the interfaces. I can rediscover and they will show up, but if I try to add them, it won't. On another 6509 and 4948, ports didn't show up when I added the device, but I was able to rediscover and add the ports afterwards just fine. I have deleted the device then readded it, tried adding one port at a time, stopped the service and restarted, but nothing has worked.

Upgrading 6.0 to 7.0
I installed OpManager 7 and it appears there is no upgrade path for our version 6 configuration information. Did I miss something? If not, why would you release a product that isolates previous users and their investments in configuration? Is there a copy of version 6 that I can download to roll back using? Thanks, Colin

Service won't start

Opmanager 7 discovers only the first device in range
Hello, I'm currently evaluation Opmanager 7. When I do a discovery over a class C subnet, it only correctly discovers the first device it finds. The rest is classified as "desktop". When I take a look at the "desktop" group, all devices have a blue star (snmp enabled) and are configured with the correct community. I've tried auto discovering the following devices: Cisco 3560 Cisco 2950 Cisco 3750 When I take a look at a switch which is classified as desktop, at the Sys Desc. I see the correct value's
names of siwtch interfaces on network views
Hi, I have OM 7.0 running on a trial, and the network dashboard tells me that FastEthernet 0/1 is currently down. super. what it doesn't tell me is which of the many switches this is on, and doesn't give me any option to go click on the name to go to it. in a similar vein, i have other's with descriptions shown as "*** link to comm..." and other names all nicely cut off just before they become useful. my gut reaction is to really really dislike this crude abbreviation of a port, whay isn't it all

Does OpManager 7 work with MSDE? I have installed MSDE with the default instance on my PC but the OpManager 7 installation says "Host name or port number is incorrect" when trying to configure the SQL server details. thanks Richard
How to Backup WinProbe?
HI, We're looking to find out what your recommended solution for backing up an op-manager probe is. Does it make the most sense for us to just back up the Database & ship out a new server in the event of a failure? Different Mail Server for Specific Alerts
Hello! I am running OpManager 6 Build 6016. I need to be able to setup specific Alert Profiles to use a different Mail server than the rest of them. The reason for this is that I need to be able to setup alerts on my Mail server separately, since if the Mail server goes offline I won't get the message that way! I know there is a secondary mail server option, but this won't work as our mail server can go offline but still receive the message (it just won't get processed into a mailbox), so I'm guessing
OpManager 6 - Windows service down email alert.
Can anyone please help me with setting up an email alert when the Print Spooler on one of our Win 2003 servers terminates? 1) I can send a test email from OpManager. 2) I have setup a Notification Profile (email) "when any [selected...] Windows Service is down" and selected "Print Spooler". I manually stopped the Print Spooler service on my server and did not get a email notification. Is there more to it than this?

Does anyone know any ways in which the device-text for devices in the mapmaker tool can be customized? i.e. adjust position (left, right, top, bottom), change the color, or even supress the text all together. Any other mapmaker tips/tricks appreciated. TIA

Hi, I am currently looking at the beta product running under Debian 4.0(side note, I had a problem getting it up and running - support was brilliant). I have a requirement for some monitoring to be able to do more than just do TCP port polling. Included are: SMTP polling IMAP polling DNS (udp) Our current solution allows me to configure not only TCP port polling, but, TCP conversation polling (while in most case tcp port tests are sufficient there are scenarios when more detailed tests are required).

MSP Quick Communications question ....
Hey guys, Im evaluating the MSP product for our company ..... Quick question, If i have a primary console in my office and a remote console at a client site, who initiates the connection ? I'm thinking of security issues for our clients, and having a 24x7 connection between the sites, or just leaving a port open sounds a little spooky to the clients ....
