SQL 2005, non-domain, DBs & SQL monitoring not work
I have 3 SQL 2005 servers (1 in domain, 2 are non-domain). All monitoring works great on the domain member, but for the non-domain servers, only part of the WMI works like CPU, Disk, and Memory; windows service info is also returned. This indicates that the login/security info is working... However, anything to do with the SQL Server Monitor is non-functioning - no info on the regular counters, no db list is returned. Fix for Interfaces not showing up
I installed the OpManager 7 patch, but I noticed that you still haven't fixed the issue of the network interfaces not showing up. Do you know when that piece of OpManager is going to be fixed.
interface description length
Hi, could someone please tell me how to adjust the displayed length of an interface in opmanager 7? having a list of switchport interfaces, **ALL** called "GigabitEther..." is insanely annoying and frsutrating... yet there appears to be no fix in any part of the (so called) admin section. pointers appreciated Chris

Problem in OP7 adding switch
Hi,Op team I have installed OP7 in Windows 2003 Server,and used MS SQL as OP7's Database,when I add swithces I meet a serious problem. I added a cisco 2950-48G using 10 mins,I found that OP7 needs long time to add it's ports,then OP7 returns "add successfully".Meantime I check "task management",there only sqlsvr.exe using 45%-70% CPU and 201M memory. UPS Monitors
I have loaded an MGE UPS mib and created some monitors onto OpManager 7 and it is working as expected. However it does not show up the monitors in the dashboard section of the UPS page. What names must the monitors be called in order to display the dashboard and graphs for Load, Remaining Time, Power Status, Battery health, etc.? We are using a higher level account to authenticate against our servers and wondered how secure those passwords were in the Op Manager database. Probe vs Agent
Hi, I seem to remember one of your support guys saying that (at some point in the future), OpManager (I am looking at the MSP product) will offer a full agent which can be installed on every computer being managed, rather than just the remote control agent. One of the things we need is the ability to monitor and manage computers that are not connected to the same network as the customer's probe (laptops, home computers where we manage those as well). Negative Number displayed for Server Response Time
I have installed version 7.0. I have a server monitor setup to monitor a machine over the internet. All I want to know is the Responce time and that the machine is present. The issues is that at certain times the values returned for the last monitor are negative numbers. I know the machine is available and the connection is active as others are using the machine from our office. What do the negative numbers mean?

Starting OpManager in Linux
I have installed OpManager on my Linux Redhat 9 server. I start the application by changing to /opt/AdventNet/ME/OpManager/bin then I run ./StartOpManagerServer.sh. The problem is this script doesn't exit and I don't get back to a command prompt. The application is accessible via web browser and everything looks like it works. Is this normal behavior or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

Fresh install in Free mode on Windows Server 2003 R2, 32 bit. Monitoring is functioning fine. Reports generate to screen fine. However, any PDF i create (click on PDF icon or any report via email) is nothing but a blank OpManager shell - see attachment. Please let me know what additional information would help diagnose the problem.
SMS Messages
Can we use a free service like google's free sms (http://www.google.com/sendtophone) to send messages to our telephones. I undrerstand that if the internet link goes down i will never receive the message but it would be a nice option to have for those of us that have redundant links to the web.
Monitoring the server OpManager is installed on
There are probably some view about where this product should or should not be installed. I have installed on two domain controllers. All works find except the domain controller that OpManager is installed on does not respond to WMI requests so all the dials are zero. It is the same on both DC's. The DC the OpManager is installed on cannot be monitoring but the other DC can be monitored. I.e. DC A cannot monitor DC A but can monitor DC B. DC B cannot monitor DC B but can monitor DC A. Is there anyway
SNMP Trap Receiving Issue
I had OpMgr working just fine for weeks. I installed OpUtils and OpMgr MSP central on the same PC to review these products for a while. I then removed OpUtils and MSP from the PC now OpMgr is not receiving any snmp traps from my network devices. I see the traps on the network with my sniffer software so I know they are getting to the OpMgr PC...they do not even show up in the Unsolicited alarms etc. Is there a configuration issue. I even reinstalled Opmgr and still the same issue
Question Regarding MSSQL Monitor Add-on
To do the SQL monitoring, does the account have to be a SQL Server admin account? Or does it just have to be an admin on the box that the SQL Server resides on (local admin privileges sufficient?)? Thank you!
MSP Various problems
Hi There. We constantly have an issue with one of our routers, as you can see by the attached screen shot the routers internal IP address in the example is 192.168.254.254 but OpManager has incorrectly changed its IP to 208.69.32.130 all on its own. If I manually click on edit and put the correct IP in again, it is ok for a while, but then if it doesn't respond a few times sometimes it will just change IP back to the 208. address, which is a opendns IP. Any idea why this is happening? and how do
MSP - java.exe and cpu usage
I have 1 probe that is giving us a fit. Java.exe jumps up and stays at about 99% cpu usage after a few hours of being active. I either have to end task or restart the computer. This is the only probe that I have seen this occur. Anyone have ideas/suggestions? Thanks

Custom Monitors in Opmanager 7 How to?
Hi all, I would like to know how exactly to create custom monitors within Opmanager 7. The only way I could figure out was through the device template and then adding a monitor to that template. This doesn't give me much flexibility I think. Example, Our devices are discovered and automatically recognized as a windows 2003 system, so the device will be added by using the windows 2003 template. OpManager 7 - Unable to Scan Networks
Recently upgraded to OpManager 7. Installed on new server, could not import old data - no issue there as this is a small installation. Found that server would not scan networks in either CIDR or network scan modes. CIDR returns an error and hangs, Network Scan just hangs. Have followed instructions to update conf file to no avail. Any ideas, similar experiences?
No Availability Monitoring
Following a dB restore undertaken under the supervision of AdventNet support staff our OpManager 7 has returned to functionaility beautifully, except, we now notice that the availability graphs are missing on all screens. For example on the Home screen the top right graph shows as a red cross and the underlying picture property states - http://<server>/servlet/OpManagerDisplayChart?filename=NODATA This happens on all screens and reports relating to availability, and the Today's Availability pie chart
Active Directory Monitor
I am an independent consultant that uses and recommends OpManager to my clients. I am currently using the free version to monitor and manage my home network. 2 AD boxes, 1 NT, firewall, router, and switch. I demonstrate OPManager via VPN to my clients. OpManager 7 - Problems Adding Servers
I recently installed OpManager 7 (we were using version 6) and I'm having problems adding servers. All servers were setup under OpManager 6 using SNMP, but now only about half of them were added to version 7 successfully. I checked the SNMP settings dozens of times, but they are all correct (as I said they were working on version 6). I can't use Windows authentication either, that doesn't appear to do a thing. Screen layout size of graphs
I am a serial poster today. I installed OpManager on two servers. The size of the graphs is different is different on each. One looks better as the graphs fill the screen. In the other the graphs look small and I would like them all to be larger. Not sure how this is controlled.

OpManager 7.0 and HP-UX B.11.23 U ia64
Hi, we are in an evaluating phase of OpManager 7 and want to monitor our 5 HP-UX Servers. With the standard snmp service from HP-UX it is only possible to monitor the network interfaces. When I use the CLI monitors the OpManager always has a time out. The username and password is correct. It is not possible to install or compile the snmp service from scratch! Log File Monitoring
Hello, We are evaluating your product and does it have the ability to monitor a plain text log file for a string pattern? For example, we have an application that writes its output to a text file (not the NT event log). There is no way to get it to write to the event log, it only writes to its own logs directory. Opmanager 7, delete custom monitor
How can I delete a custom created monitor. Currently I'm trying to create a custom template for Bluecoat appliances, but when I load the mibs from Bluecoat, and I want to select the SNMP OID to query for example CPU usage, I can not manually type the sub value I want to get. CPU Utilization Report
Hi, I run the top 10 server by CPU utilization report in Opmanager 6 and it shows me 4 CPU from the same server. The server have 2 processors and i believe each processor has dual core cpu. But how to show the server CPU utilization report by only 1 CPU? Same as the CPU usage in Windows XP? Thanks.
