declaring a device 'down'
how long does opmanager wait before declairing a device down-aka if it doesnt respond to ping in ___ amt of time? what is that amt of time? Admin > SNMP Parameters has settings for SNMP retry & timeout seconds but that only applies to newly discovered devices? i have somedevices that i know it's going to take x amt of time to get a reply from-any way to change the amount of time (like you can do for URL's) before it's declared 'down' heck-even if it has to change the properties for all devices...but
OpManager Annoyances v2
why the hell are all my unmanaged devices reenabled after the 'downtime' schedule is up? i have all my unmanaged devices-then suddenly you remanage them-forcing me to go back by hand after every downtime to disable them again -i still want the devices there-they have inportant info attached-but the devices are going to be out for a month or so-i want them there because we use the business views to know where things are...then my downtime for 5min every morning on that category forces them back to

redundancy
Hello, Is there a way to install opmanager with redundancy. It's nice to have a monitoring program that monitors if your servers are alive, but what if the monitoring program itselfs fails or the monitorserver? Is there a possibility if the master fails that the slave takes the monitoring over? or just install it as two stand alone's? and that they monitor eachother? thx in advance
Adding graphs
Hello, I am newbie to opmanager. Is it possible to add custom graphs that appear in the device windows along with the 3 default graphs (server view)? Thanks in advance

Port Down Alarm - Will not clear
I removed a device from the network and I keep getting an alarm that the port (10006) on the switch (Cisco Catalyst 3560) is down. It's OK for it to be down, because nothing is attached to it. How can I tell OpManager to let it be down and not generate an alarm for that. (But I still want to be alerted for problems with ports on the switch.) Maybe I just need to turn off notification for a while so it resets it threshold?
OpManager version differences
I may have missed something somewhere, but could someone please point out what are the differences between OpManager Professional and OpManager MSP. Differences in both the functionality and the price would be helpful. Thanks, Geoff.

Monitoring Infortrend A24F
Hi, we are currently evaluating opManager. I'm very satisfied so far. Great product! I'm wondering if I can monitor a Infortrend A24F as well (I know there is a separate storage manager, but I would prefer to have it all in one program)? Thanks in advance, Gunnar

How to monitor Windows events through OpManager?
Hi, I was wondering how to set up rules to monitor Windows events such as keyword search or by Event ID. For example, I have some applications that I'd like to examine the event logs and look for keywords such as "failed", "stopped", and it will fire an alert if it finds such events. Appreciate your help, Simon

hp 9315 switch
Hi, I've added a HP9315 switch to OpManager. I get all the port stats, but I don't get any CPU/Memory info from the 9315. Do I need to get a new MIB for this?
Monitor Service State via SNMP
Because most of the servers we monitor is on the other side of a firewall and we don't want to open RPC and CIFS (which I think are rather critical ports) we are trying to set up service monitoring via SNMP instead. I have come as far as if I add a custom monitor with OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.77.1.2.3.1.3 (which is svcServiceOperatingState) I get graphs for all services available on the server wich i add the Monitor to, but they are all represented in one page. But what I would like to do is add one custom
Laptops
I have laptops in the office that people take home. What is the best practice for handling these devices with OpManager? What I'm trying to avoid are alerts in the "desktops" area. If it is the laptops, I'm not so concerned.
Switch port mapper
Does the switch port mapper tool part of the professional version of OpUtils have an alerting capability if a port assignment changes, whether it is a system being unplugged or a new one being installed. We are having problems tracking down rogue systems plugging into our switches. If this tool can alert sys admins we will look to purchase the tool so we can monitor our port activity more efficiently. Thank you
CPU Value?
if Any NT System have two cpu, what value is it in resource CPU Monitor value of Opmanager? Maximum value of Single CPU? or Average value of CPUs?
Enhancement Request - User Management
Just an idea, it would be great to be able to promote a user account in OpManager to administrative priviledges without having to recreate the account all over. It seems a fairly simple feature to implement, is this on the roadmap? Cheers, Bob.
Different stats between Windows and Linux?
Hello, I use OpManager to keep track of the network traffic on an HP ProCurve 2650. I both use the Windows and the Linux version (free). The strange thing is, that the Windows traffic monitors seem to be corrupt: e.g. switchport 36 gives on the Windows machine: average 121.62 kbps up and 17.63 kbps down, on the Linux machine: average 81.07 kbps up and 10.48 kbps down. Time frame is exactly the same. And it is almost always the Windows that gives the higher numbers. Also, I compared the counters to

Device Types
I am using Opmanager 6. I did a network discovery. I then went and re-assign devices to their proper type. This worked for the majority of devices. I have a few though that will not list in the designated category. They remain in the original group. For example: I have several Wireless basestations that were originally classified as switches. I have since changed the type to Wireless. Unfortunately, they still are listed in the Switches group. I have tried creating a new device type and queried the
Trial License to Free Edition
I have been evaluating the Pro version on OpManager 6. I have determined that i only need the free version to continue with my needs. My eval license has expired. Is there anyway that I can transition the product to the free version so that i do not have to setup the monitors again.

Email alert is not respecting the "Device misses 3 poll
I have two profiles configured in Notification Profiles. Both are configured equal, also in the part of Device misses "3" polls. In a server I have the two profiles configured. The problem is that in the one of them soon after first device miss already sends an email saying that the server is out and soon after that sends another one saying that is up again. In this profile is not waiting the "Device misses 3 polls". I created new profile and the problem also happens. Somebody can help me? TKS Renato
CPU, Memory, and Disk Utilization
Hello, I keep on seeing support repond with... "If you have any discrepancies in SNMP based responses, try to configure WMI/TELNET/SSH based resource monitors." Which leads me to believe that SNMP monitoring of CPU, Memory, and Disk is completely broken in OpManager. Since some of us can't use telnet or SSH version 1 to monitor our servers, this means the product will not monitor CPU, memory, or disk utilization. As this is a major shortcoming of the product, it should either be fixed, or made a
Device Type
I've just downloaded the OpManager 30 day version. I've done the discovery and some things were obviously not identified properly. what I'd like to do is edit the device type so that it shows up properly in the gui. For example, my routers are using some default icon instead of the Cisco icon listed in the Device Types under the Global Settings of the Admin section. If we can't change them, then why do they have them all listed in that section? Any ideas

AD Store not on C-drive
I'm using OpManager Enterprise 6.0 build 6002. I've added two domain controller to monitor, but the Active Directory store is not stored on de C-drive. The store is installed on d:\winnt\ntds\ntds.dit I changed the Database Monitors -> Database Size monitor to look at the file on the d-drive. That works. But in the dashboard there's also information about the free and total disk size. But this information is still from the C drive (Stated above the data) I don't have the option to change these two
Excluding IP ranges for discovery
We have the following issue: Our internal networks use B-class address blocks for various location. Say location A has the network 10.100.0.0/16. OpManager of course discovers this and starts to auto discover everything in that network. Unfortunately a part of this network is populated with client machines that are very transient and do DHCP so can have any IP address out of a given range (10.100.100.0 - 10.100.100.255). Is there a way to EXCLUDE a subrange from a network from the discovery process?
Logging
I downloaded the trial version of OpUtils yesterday to see if it would help me monitor my networks. I setup an Enhanced Ping to check several gateways and trusted IP's of our WAN. While I can view current ping times I would like to look at the history. Is there a way to view the log? Thank you, Richard Isbell richard@thetsg.net
Netware servers - No disksize in device asset.
Hello. Can someone please tell me how I can make OpManager collect disk information via SNMP. If I look at Asset Details on a Netware server, it don't show any harddisk info. If I try to add it, after upgrade to bulid 6004, I get an error. This error is telling me to provide a value for RAM. The RAM value is already populated, and it won't accept any value. If I use the standalone MIB browser - I can collect harddisk info from Netware servers, but not from the Web Client. Does someone have similar
