Does anyone know where the may be a list of suggested Threshold Settings for Active Directory Monitors? I am looking for recommendations on setting Thresholds for things such as : DATABASE SIZE, DS BINDS, etc... Thanks
Where are the event logs?
Hello, I have been trying out OpManager, Event Log Analyzer, and Application Manager, trying to see which one will be the best fit. I am having a hard time locating the event logs in app manager and op manager, what screen do they show up on? I have enabled windows event logs, and have rules set, but no logs are being collected, and i'm not sure if I am looking in the right place. thanks

MIB load failure

Probes Missing?
Hi The Probe page on my MSP 6 install is empty. The probes are in the conf\probes directory and show against the customer in the custormer page but do not show on the Probe page
OpManager 6 using MySQL > 4.0
Hi I've been using OpManager 6 for a few weeks and as well as the built in reports have been writing VBA macros to query the database. I've discovered that a query (using the max() function) wasn't displaying the data it should be and a google search revealed that it is probably down to the version of MySQL being 4.0. I've tried to install MySQL v 4.1.22 on this server and have set it to use a different port. My plan was then to point Opmanager system to use this server by modifying the database_params.conf
MSP 6004 Remote Control
Hi I just upgraded to MSP 6004. I see the new Remote Control feature. When I click on it I get an error that an agent has not been installed. How do I enable this feature?
Advice regarding opUtils
Hi, Currently evaluation OpUtils. Configured a Dell Switch Stack to monitor which has in total 96 ports across the 2 switches (48 in each) Yet, in the Switch Port mapper, it says I have 306 total ports, 240 being used (when there are actually only 32 in use across the stack. Can you advise on this? Also do you plan to add Dell PowerConnect switch support in soon? It would be really nice to see port numbers/unit numbers as opposed to "EthernetCSmacd" in the Ifname field. MAP LINK ALREADY EXSISTS (ERROR)
HELLO , i have porblem with creating map link in business view when i try to create link between 2 devices its gives me error that link is already exsists, i have deleted the device and readded it i have not deleted the link before deleting the device i think thats why it gives me the error , also i can see the broken link on the left corner of the business view,, But now i dont know how to get rid of this broken link and create again link..plz guide me to this...is there anysolution to this,, thx
Op manager with HPUX and Catalyst 3750
Hi opmanager support, I want to integrate opmanager to my network but i need to now if it's works fine with my devices, I installed a 30 day evaluation opmanager 6.0 build 6016, and started to tryed but i found some issues that i want to resolve before I integarate to the monitoring system, 1st With the catalyst 3750, the backplane utilization bar is always showing 0%, so I think that is not working correctly 2nd With HPUX servers using HPUX 11.11 OS the CPU Utilization is showing -1% and Memory
OpManager: Alerts when a service is down doen't send a msg
Hi, I'm evaluating your tool Op Manager. I have installed it successfully. I configured maill server and I made a test and it works. I insert a device that's a SUN server and opManager see it. Additionally I inserted one INFORMIX service and it's well configured I monitored by OpManager. But when I take down INFORMIX mail alert wasn't sent and it's shown in OpManger . I considered to create a profile to send this message previously. Thanks for your help.

Hi, Im looking for a monitoring/alerting package that will monitor everything from ping times & availability of a server, to service status on a server, uptime, disk space, ram usage etc, as well the ability to email and sms alerts on outages. Ideally the package would support agents on remote machines as the monitoring server and the monitored server will be on seperate networks/domains/subnets etc (ie my server will be at a co-lo centre and the client server being monitored will be on the otherside

When we use CISCO Switches to link the interfaces each other , doesn't make any impact where as Link between CISCO switch and HP Server does well.

Devices not showing in Opmanager 7
I've been using OpManager 6 for a while now and just replaced it with OpManager 7. Because there aren�t many devices to monitor I manually added these devices back in. Although OpManager had informed me they had all been successfully added, I encountered problems with some of these when I tried to view them. 3 Cisco 7206 routers were picked up without a problem, whilst one Cisco 6513 switch showed up as a desktop and the other 6513 was missing completely. WMI monitors with OPManager 7
Hi, I am currently testing OPManager for feasibility usage in a LAN environment. In the previous OPManager 6, you can select WMI to use for the MSSQL monitor. However, in 7.0, there is no indication of WMI or SNMP used for the MSSQL monitor. The environment does not allow for usage of SNMP which is why this will be of concern to us. Also, are we still able to purchase licences for 6.0 rather than 7.0? Finally, can we purchase the MSSQL addon to the free version as we do not require the professional

Possibility of changing Alert Email Subject and other config
Im not entirely sure how to configure many things. Is there a GUI to the DB where all the settings are stored or is it in the XMLs ? The Help says nothing about this (that i can find). I need to change the Subject of the Emails sent by various Alerts. For example "Critical" and "Normal" should be the first word not the last in the subject so that i can quickly check on the blackberry, for example. Also, if i want the alerts to be sent only after 2 failures/misses to poll a server. Where can i change

Failover Monitoring
I'm thinking of running two intances of OpManager, one at my primary site and one at my failover site. My thinking is that if the primary site goes down, no alerts would get out, but if the failover site is monitoring as well, those alerts will be sent (and Visa vesa). Would this work?

Problems Right Off From The Start [Edit with More Info]
I installed OpManager 7 today on my test server that is running Server 2003 Standard Edition, SP 1. I logged on locally as the local machine admin that has FULL RIGHTS to the machine. I installed and everything seemed to install normally. Now, when I try to go in and execute the application, it won't start. Finally, I get the error: 'OpManager is already using the WebServer port XXXX' I read through and saw that I needed to go in and run the ChangeWebServerPort.bat. I did that, still got the same
MSP edition roadmap
I would like to learn what the MSP edition roadmap looks like? I am particuarly concerned that there is no out of the box monitoring for SQL 2005 in MSP edition. I also would like to see enhancement to the core product such as better device recognition, ability to assign "templates" with certain monitors to groups of devices, ability to create groups other then the default groups..If you can concentrate on that instead of getting new revenue generating addons that would be fantastic.
Dell Temperature Monitor
Is it possible to change the Dell temperature monitor so that it records the temperature in degrees (not tenths of degree). Also is it possible to put a label on each of the graphs (Ambient, CPU, Backplane) ? Is it a matter of editing a XML file somewhere? Thanks,

Hi I have installed opmanager, and try to start opmanager, but the message coming up: WebServer Port 1550 is occupied. Change the port by executing bin/ChangeWebServer script. In Opmanager 6 there were Vendor Specific Monitors like Compaq Server Temp. In OP7 there is nothing. When i try to add a new monitor i need the right MIB file. What can i do to use the old option from 6 in 7. Thanks in advance Beheer_KA
OpManager 7 - BV images folder not updating
We have a plasma screen on which we display vital networking gear and servers in our NOC. We followed the guide for creating the HTML page as described by a tutorial on the AdventNet Site. What we have found is that the images used for this static HTML page are not updated automatically and the business views (BV) need to be clicked manually before they are updated. Basically this defeats the purpose of having our NOC display. Does anyone have a similiar situation and/or a solution. Below is a support
Graphs Not displayed
Hi, I had configured OpManager to show performance of my database server. I had configure it to show all the performance counters but it fails me to give performance readings(graphs) of CPU Utilization,Memory Utilization & Disk Utilization. I tried to troubleshoot but doesnot help. Pls. guide.
Discovery Issues
When Discovering devices in opmanager 7 the devices do not get placed in the proper networks. There is no way of moving the devices to the proper network or even creating a network unlike V6. I have many vlans some are 24 bit netmasks and some are 20 bit netmasks. The discovery process will create some networks that do not exists in my architecture. I did not have these issues in Version 6. Also why was the abilty to add, remove and rediscover networks removed? Bad decision if you ask me.
OpManager Premium or MSP
Hi All, I work for an IT services provide and we are currently looking to roll out a remote netmon solution and are looking at OpManager as a solution (we are also looking at MS System Center among others). But I have a few questions that I'm hoping you can answer for me. 1. I can find no real difference between the functionality or premium and MSP, is there a valid reason for choosing MSP or is it simply a licensing requirement? 2. Delete alerts and Bandwidth Monitor problems
Hello, I am having trouble with the following: Deleting Alerts, I had 3000 ip address manager alerts plus some others. I was able to delete the others by slecting the alert and deleting all. But when I try that with the IP adress Manager the screen blinks but they are still there. Polling Period
Hi, I want to setup a monitor that polls every 5mins but between certain time periods i.e create a URL monitor which polls each 5mins from 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday. Can App Mgr do this.?? Regards, Rick
