Unable to backup Cisco Switch Config
I'm unable to pass the validation process to get NCM to take backups of our networking equipment. We've got various cisco switches, routers and firewalls across our sites. I've created a test set of credentials with privilege level 15. These creds work when i ssh directly to the switch and run the show running-configuration command. However when i enter the credentials in NCM and select save and test, i get all thumbs red. I've tested via the show terminal option and that connects to the switch without
SNMPv3 for NCM Credintial
Hi, Could I use the SNMPv3 for NCM credentials? The cisco switch added to the monitoring using SNMPv3, but I can't use SNMPv3 credentials to add the device to NCM... the device is successfully added by ssh-tftp or telnet-tftp but I wish if I can add the device by using SNMPv3 !! Thanks, -- Tamer
Problem with Backup config
Hello, I have a problem with taking backup configuration. As shown at the picture below, when I request to take a backup config. NCM open the session to take the backup and it's backup conifg send to Tftp server. but 10 seconds later I see the backup file removed from tftp server and NCM tell me the backup is failed. Can you please help me to fix this ? I have noticed when I check the NCM credentials, that device response is not green light , I guess this is the reason for this problem. Thanks,

Hi everyone, - Uploading Configuration to Multiple Devices: I assuming each device has a base config , so every baseline config will be uploaded every device. Example: Device A have basline 1 and Device B have baseline 2, i want upload config to multi device, so baseline 1 will be uploaded for Device A, baseline 2 will be uploaded for Device B ???? DeviceExpert web cannot be accessed from other host?
Hi, I would like to know what can I check to troubleshoot this issue. I installed DeviceExpert on port 6060. It can be accessed from inside the server itself via localhost:6060 but when accessed from other host via IP address and port 6060 it only gave me blank page without any error message. NCM - how to force SSH version
Hi, NCM 12.0 installed on a linux OS, i have some device in inventory to backup the configuration and those devices don't support SSH version 1. The problem is that NMC try to connect with SSH version 1 as a first try and i suppose that the connection exceeded the timeout. Is there a way to force NMC to use SSH version 2? Maybe to change the priority so that the first try is done with SSH version 2. Regards, Christian

Device configs stored where?
Are the backed up config files for devices stored in the database, or as files within a sub directory of NCM? I use NCM to backup the config of this device, but also back up the server that NCM runs on to an offsite location. If I need to restore the firewall config, would I need to restore NCM first, or could I just find the latest device config in a sub directory somewhere

Is there an upgrade path from DeviceExpert 5990 to NCM 11000? I do not see an upgrade packs for and we have a customer looking to upgrade their deployment.
Backups not working? Upgrade not working?
Hi. We have NCM 5980, and database backups don't seem to work. The scheduled backup via GUI doesn't do anything (even though the page says the previous backup was then and then), and nothing shows in the backup execution history either. NCM help section says that there should be a BackupDB.bat file under NCM\bin folder to manually take backups, but it isn't there? I found a similar file under "D:\NCM\troubleshooting", and that creates a DB backup file, but the created backup is stored on the root

Problem backing up asa over vpn
Good afternoon, I am currently backing up a catalyst switch along with one asa on our internal network, very easy and simple software. My question is that we have an external asa that we need to backup also. The problem: copy start tftp://ipaddress/8_ConfigFile.txt doesn't work because of our ACLs The fix: copy start tftp://ipaddress/8_ConfigFile.txt;int=INSIDE_NIC works fine because it then uses the vpn and connect back to the Network Config Manager. Hello, I am trying to work with your REST API that I read about here: https://www.manageengine.com/network-configuration-manager/restapi.html When I try to send a simple GET_DEVICE request for a known good IP address, I just get a blank response with HTTP 200. I expected to at least get an empty JSON response. I'm sending in following parameters per the documentation. "API_KEY=123456abc&IP_ADDRESS=1.1.1.1&ACTION=GET_DEVICE" I've tried sending these as both a GET and POST request but get same result.
DeviceExpert Java REST API
Hey there, I'm trying to connect to the DeviceExpert with the REST API inside of a java application. My problem is that I'm getting an empty result returned and not a json object as it should be, but the connection responseCode is 200, so that should not be the problem. Do I have to authenticate somehow before I can make the api call? Or is the generated api key enough? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The urlParameters look like for example: "API_KEY="+apiKey+"&ACTION=GET_ALL_DEVICE_TYPES"

Issue with backup of Fortigate Firewall after upgrade to 5.2 Code
Hello, we have been backing up our Fortigate firewalls that were running 5.0 code for several months without issue using the "Fortigate Firewall - version 3.0" template. We just recently upgraded to 5.2 code and are noticing that backups look to be timing out, where they will grab the first 5-6 lines of the configuration and then stop. If we rerun the backup it does work, we just have issues when running our nightly configuration backup of hundreds of devices at the same time that we see the issue.

Credential Profiles unique to particular users
Is there any way to have credential profiles that not all users can see? I would like to have a "admin" profile then just a "read-only" for general techs.. If not, how can I limit the access to NCM so not all opmanager users can use it. Is there a way to set the default for NCM for users to have access to a device group that has NO devices..then we will just add the techs.. or better yet a way to associate and AD group?
Reduced privileged user to do backup
We are trying to implement a reduced level user that cannot make changes but has access to perform backups. Currently we have a user that has priv 3: username devexpert privilege 3 password 7 However, when logging in with that user, it requires the command to display the running config to be different from what device expert is using.... you need to issue the command "show run view full" to get the running config. Device Expert not working with Chrome browser
Hello, we are running Device Expert: Version : 5.9.6 Build Number : 5960 Using Chrome the links to main objects work, Home, inventory etc, but the links any objects on these pages do not work. This is universal across all my Chrome users who are running several versions of Chrome so I think it is something in DE. All links work in IE and Firefox. Was wondering if anyone else had seen this and if so, is there a fix?

Hi, I am interested how to get report on approved changes from Device Expert with comments entered during the approval process. When we approve changes we indicate comments for each changes.
