Safe way to reboot Desktop Central Server
Hi, Could anyone give me the correct process for rebooting the Desktop Central server? I performed a standard server reboot last year which caused big issues with the DB. Support managed to resolve and said it was due to an unclean shutdown / reboot. However they failed to provide me with any info on how to avoid it happening again. Do a need to stop services in a particular order first? Is there a batch file within the Desktop Central program files? I need to reboot my server but don't want to risk

DesktopCentral and MSSQL on linux
As I understand DesktopCentral migration to MSSQL needs "SQL Browser" service but unfotunately MSSQL on linux does not support it. Is there some kind of workaround to get this setup working? Why does DesktopCentral needs "SQL Browser" anyway? ServiceDesk can be set up without "SQL Browser" service.
Leveraging APIs with powershell
I am trying to wrap my head around the APIs. I have successfully been able to connect and authenticate via the API but I am wondering how I would query for all unapproved windows patches via the API? I also would like to be able to query specific computers for missing patches and store the results.

Desktop Central Silent Install using MDT
I am trying to deploy DesktopCentralAgent.msi using MDT 2013. I know that you can deploy using GPO but I would prefer to use MDT. The issue I'm having is none of the silent switches will work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Notifications via the Mobile App?
It look like one of the more recent builds includes mobile app-based notifications? Is anyone using that functionality? I wanted to get some impressions on what notifications are available via the app (which IMO is sorely in need of functionality updates, it's pretty pitiful what you can do in the app vs the desktop interface).
Feature request: Mac encryption reboot behaviour
Hi, I have a problem patching macOS systems that are encrypted using FileVault 2 -- when the system reboots, it requires the user to be present to enter the password for filevault to unlock the disk. This means that automatic patching of encrypted macs is not possible, as they do not automatically start up again afterwards. Hi ! Fresh instalation: Build Version:10.0.550, Mail Server Settings - setup OK. But can't access Inventory -> Configure Alerts https://localhost:8383/webclient#/dc/inventory/configure-alerts nothing shows up and can't setup email alerts. On old build Version:10.0.479 is Inventory -> Configure Email Alerts - still working good. You can setup alerts. Any help ? THX.
Language of desktop central agent; all patch notices are english only ?
Hi, i am evaluating desktop central in germany with german-speaking end users. Some users unfortunately doesn't understand the english language, so this is a problem when the desktop central agent confronts them with english-only warnings or message boxes. - They don't know what the desktop agent "talks about". So i wonder if it is possible to get the end user messages e.g. the "desktop central patch update notification" with the "skip" and "start now" button completely translated to german ? Is
Running costs of Desktop Central in AWS / Feed back of how it works

Downloading PPM last few releases
I've run into a major issue downloading the latest released update/ppm file in a timely manner. This has happened with the last few releases I have downloaded. I thought I isolated the problem to the servers it's coming from. I have tested this with Multiple ISP's/Sites within my area. The problem is consistent between them (ISP or machine downloading the PPM). Previously the PPM file download links on the DesktopCentral website all pointed to Desktopcentral.com with the exception of the latest patch/link
Custom groups not showing
I created a few custom dynamic groups but when I go to create a configuration I choose CustomGroup but none of my custom groups are in there. Am I missing something? Thanks, Amanda

Desktop Central server not running
Desktop Central web page not loading. Can't even connect with a browser on the server itself. I have rebooted the server twice. MEDC is installed on Server 2016. Version is 10.0.0.479. Upgraded to that on 3/6/20. It's worth noting that the following March Windows updates were installed within the last few days: KB4541329, KB4540723, KB4540670, and KB8900830. I would like to know if there is a way (in Desktop Central or a bolt on product) to send an alert when the status of a computer changes. Example: I would like to get an email\text when computer "steve" is online. Is that possible with Desktop Central?
High Paging File Utilization
We're monitoring our Desktop Central server and noticed that the paging file often fills up. It looks like it clears out a little after the server maintenance every week but it usually fills back up before the next maintenance. Our server (a VM) isn't even using all of the memory allocated to it and it won't let me set a larger custom paging file size. Can we turn off the paging file or is it needed to properly run Desktop Central?

Our Desktop Central Server URL is now desktopcentral.Domain.com, when an email alert gets generated the link inside to follow points to the server name https:// LocalServerName instead of the desktopcentral.Domain.COM, Where so I change that?
High CPU & memory usage of Desktop Central agent
Hi, I just updated to build 10.0.475 from 10.0.450 last week, and some of the DC agent installed servers and PC facing high CPU and memory usage. I just checked that there is a 10.0.476 update today and also updated. The issue still exists. Seems that the DCFAUser.exe has some issue and make lots of "handles" to CPU. Best regards, Starry Ho

Hi Guys, New to Desktop Central, would like to ask how can i add RHEL machines using an IP or other methods? The adding of machines via Windows Domain SOM works fine, but these RHEL machines are standalones and not in any domain. Also, where could i manually get the RHEL agent? I click on "Download Agent", apparently its a windows .msi file. Thanks in advance!

O/S Imaging stopped working
We've been successfully imaging computers for several months. Now it has just stopped working altogether.
Stuck on 'validating image creator components'
I'm not sure why this is happening as it was working. I'm trying to image a devices and it always gets stuck on validating image create components and fetching partition details regardless of the device. I've confirmed no FW and AV is disables seems to be something going on the DC server. Any thoughts or how to troubleshoot?

So everyone knows, there seems to be a HUGE virtual memory leak in the Desktop Central 10 Windows agent 10.0.466.W. In my office environment there are hundreds of Windows computers that are running itself (without human intervention) which allow auto reboot after Windows patch deployed, I wonder if I can setup an email notification when a machine has been finished rebooting (both manual reboot or auto reboot).
Patching Issue - Agent Down
I have server not be able to run patch as the agent status is down shown in Desktop Central. But when check on OpManager, the agent is working fine and up. Why this is happening? Can anyone help?

Moving DC server between domains...
Hi, As a part of migrating a client from Windows SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2019, I am in the process of changing a company's DNS from non-routable (domain.local) to a routable name (domain.net), as per Microsoft's current best practices for domains. Allow more database fields when creating dynamic custom groups
I think the functionality of custom groups would be significantly enhanced if you could select from more database fields. E.G. I would like to create a group where systems the system manufacturer is Dell and the installed version of a software is less than a specified value -- but unfortunately this does not seem to be possible. Windows 10 Home - covered/restrictions?
Hi All I am looking at Deskop Central as have inherited sites where there is a single system which is in alot of cases Winsows 10 Home operating system. They are standalone but need a way to be cost effective to put central security controls on them eg screen lock outs etc aswell. Before I have to look at OS upgrades to pro which may not be financially viable can you kindly let me know. That way I can phase them out over coming years. Thanks in advance.
