Live Agent Status - Add to Patch Mgmt Module
Hi Support, I see the new feature which is the addition of the live agent status attached to the computer name field on the SOM page in build 80347. This is a great new function, but can I request it is also added to all the pages in the Patch Management section? This is something I have asked for, for a long time, to be able to know if the computer is currently up and available when I want to send patches. Software Deployment Path Type (Desktop Central MSP 8)
Hi Guys, I'm trying to deploy Ms Office 2010 through software deployment, but I can't see the option to choose Network Path or HTTP Path. Is this option not supported in MSP version? I've attached the screenshots. MSP version which I'm using doesn't have any option to choose Path Type. Another question can someone please explain how the software repository work? I've changed software repository from default to \\testmachine\manageenengine and now whenever I select any package whether MSI or MSIEXEC/EXE,
error patching server
I have scanned a server and chosen to deploy updates. When trying to apply the configuration (or even add another target) I get the following error: "Exception occurred while processing the validateTarget !!!!" Server is running the correct agent and patch scan works fine. Build 80347 Any ideas? Thanks, Dean
AD Group Configuration Deployement
Hi, As discussed earlier, I was told that if I point a configuration to an AD group, as users are added to the group they will be added to the configuration. I have to modify the configurations and hit deploy again in order for it to see the new users added to the AD group. Am I missing a setting or does it have a set time that it checks for new AD group users and the modify deploy just forces the check? Also, if I hit deploy it always says the switch is not defined for the software package. The

Clients with multiple IP's
Hi, I am having an issue with certain client machines that may have Multiple IP addresses it appears that clients that have multiple IP 's will not be managed by Desktop central server correctly scans fail, configurations do not apply disabling these additional NIC's with different subnetted IP's is not an acceptable solution as they are required for example for cluster services can you advise how i set one fo these IP addresses for the client as the primary means of comms to the server Thanks
Configuration Status
Quick question. I have a configuration that silently installs software for all users in an AD Group. If the user already has the most current version, will it install over it? If it does, is there a way to filter it to only install on computers that don't already have the newest version? It just says success for the status. Thanks, -Ben
DC8 Spamming new hardware mails: Addition of Hardware Detected:Desktop Monitor,Desktop Monitor
I have DC8 set up to mail about hardware changes made to machines, A very useful feature. DC8 Builds 80340 & 80339 send many mails about new monitors. Most of these machines are virtual but with some laptops and a desktop too. I've had 8 reports about new monitors just for my main laptop which hasn't got any external monitors attached. I'm getting 8 or so reports about monitors for each of the 16 managed machines on my testing network which amounts to quite a lot of spam. If I were to roll out Builds
Problem with checksum on Malicious Software Removal Tool v5.9 (x64)
I've tried several times to download the latest MS Malicious Software Removal Tool v5.9 (x64) through Service Desk 8 (Build 80339). It downloads and the file size looks identical to the one I downloaded manually from microsoft.com, but I always see a "checksum doesn't match" error and the patch (ID = 15105) is still showing up as "Not yet downloaded" -- is this a known bug? Is there a workaround, such as manually downloading the MRT into the proper store folder? Thanks.

Greetings I am trying to create a custom configuration that allows me to scan, patch and reboot a group of servers after hours. False positives for two .Net 4.5.1 updates (15026 and 15028)
Win 7 + SP1 (x64) workstations. Yesterday, after applying latest MS updates using Windows Update, machines were coming up clean when scanned by Desktop Central -- all MS updates released 11 Feb (and earlier) were installed. This morning, after a Desktop Central patch DB update (to fix the Malicious Software Removal download checksum error), the machines are all showing that they're missing .Net 4.5.1 updates 15026 and 15028. Autodesk 2013 Uninstallation
I figured out how to uninstall Autodesk 2013 silently. FYI. "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Uninstall Tool 2013\InvCleanup.exe" /qn InvCleanup.exe will remove all the Autodesk apps. The /qn performs it silently. The icons will disappear one at a time. -Ben
Automate Patch Deployment Fore reboot after XXXX minutes
Hi! I found an unpleasant surprise... DC is doing automatic patch installation for workstations in every monday after working hours. We have configured Fore Reboot after XXXX minutes - its working. But now I discovered... when user is logged in to computer over Remote Desktop Connection, then it will go force reboot immediately after patch installation - it does not wait XXXX mintues.
False positive for Win XP patch 15117 (KB2909210)
I'm noticing that all eight of our remaining Win XP Pro (32-bit) workstations are showing that they're missing Paatch 15117 (KB2909210) even though we've applied all of the latest MS updates using Microsoft Update back on 11 February. As a test, I used Desktop Central to download the update, then manually installed it on one Win XP workstation, then rebooted it, then rescanned it with Desktop Central. It's still showing that it's missing patch 15117. This looks like another false positive. Can
How to set up an IP Printer
Hi, I would like to setup a configuration to push an IP Printer to a computer. I know there is the IP Printer in the config options but I am a bit confused. The box for "Share Network Printer for Driver Installation" We do not share our printers. The typical installation is to enter the IP through Windows Add Printer Wizard then do a "have disk" to the driver on our server. Can I put the driver path on the server in that box? What I would like this to do is I have a Xerox GPD and a HP UPD configurations

Hi, Would it be possible to have a copy of DC ULA ? We have a legal concern, regarding licenses. We purchased DC with 1000 nodes to support our business, we currently have 300 computers that are actively managed, so we have 700 free nodes. Merge DC Servers
I have a couple of companies that run Desktop Central MSP for me to manage their computers. I'm ready to purchase a license and wonder if there is a way to migrate or merge these DBs. Does DTC support Single Sign on? Its a pain to sign in every morning when SD+ signs in automaticly and i have to manually sign in to DTC. More Mapped Drives issues
I have a couple of problems with the Mapped Drives feature. When I set up a mapped drive configuration, I want to make sure that the user has a mapped drive pointing to the right location. So I map the Z drive to \\server\folder. But when a user already has the Z drive point to \\serverX\folder the configuration will fail, because the Z drive is already there. How to enforce "Disable Automatic Java Updates" template
Hi all I deployed the "Disable Automatic Java Updates" template a while ago which prevented all Java update notifications. However, when Java 7 Update 9 was released, the notifications re-appeared on all workstations (both Win 7 and XP). It seems that a previous Java update overwrote the registry keys. My question is, if there is a way to enforce this template? The only alternative I see is to deploy registry keys via group policy. Thanks for your advice! Regards Stefan
Ports used by network share
I wish to use a NAS as a network share to deploy softwares and only allowed specific ports for security reasons. Whenever I try to access the designated folder on my NAS (with correct credentials) the access is denied and I believe it is due to the port(s) not being opened on the side of NAS. What port(s) is/are used by Desktop Central for accessing the software repository on the network?
Deployment of .NET 4.5.1--offline installer or web installer?
I'm deploying the .NET 4.5.1 update for all of my domain computers (about 170) to provide functionality to one of our systems that we just updated, and my subject line pretty much says it all. Will deploying the web installer (using /q /norestart to run in the background) work? It's not a HUGE deal, but it would put the data load on microsoft rather than having the offline installer come off my servers. Thanks! -Adam

How-To: Change Date format used by reports
I want to export a report with a date or datetime column to XLS or CSV for further processing using Excel. But since we use German version of Excel, I can't use the date format exported by desktop central, for example "Mon, Jan 20 2014, 12:00:00". Instead I need the date value in the format "20.01.2014" or "20.01.2014 12:00:00" So, my question is how to change the date format used by Desktop Central especially regarding reports. (In Servicedesk the overall date format can be easily change under "Personalize").
Desktop Central not working after 339 hotfix install

Software Deployment - AD Group Uninstall Policy
Hi, Is there any concept of an "uninstall software policy" or something in Desktop Central? What I mean by this, is for example: I have a Software Deployment Configuration targeted to a Group in Active Directory. If I were to remove a computer from this group, it would be ideal that for during the next agent check-in, the software is then removed from the machine. This would make manageability easier. Thanks
Automatic Software Deployement
Hi, I am looking to automate the updating process of our user's VPN client. We are able to push software to specific computer, but we would like to have the agent look at the computer and recognize that a user has X software version 7.0. Then the agent will automatically with no administrative assistance pull the new 8.0 version for instance to that computer. In our case, the software is WatchGuard MUVPN 11.8, but we also plan to use this with numerous other applications. Thanks!
WOL over Cisco 2960
Hi All, Has anyone currently setup and using WOL broadcasting through cisco 2960 switch? We have lots of different subnets for each floor and branches of our company and would like to enable WOL to automate windows updates. Constant Running Configuration
I would like to have my configuration run constantly on an AD Group so if a new computer is added, it will get this software.If I have a configuration targeted to an AD group, would it not have a status of completed after it has pushed to all the computers in that AD group? Meaning if I add a computer to that AD group a month from now, that configuration would be completed and "executed" and would not run on that new computer. Will the configuration only target to the computers that were in the group
