trial period expiration v 60212
I upgraded to hotfix 60212 last night 9-14-2008 and this morning I am getting the trial period expires in 2 days warning. will this automatically revert to the free version limited to 10 clients?

Screen "blinks" after first scan and patch install
Hi I have a problem that started happening after I did a remote agent install /scan and then pushed down a few MS patches. All these users are experiencing screens that are blinking (jumping). Are there any known issues or is it one of the Microsoft patches that are causing the problem? Thanks
inventory names
Hi, how is it possible to manually edit hw inventory ? For example DC shows me: - Monitor Type : Default monitor - Hard Disk : it's completely blank ! I would like to change it to Acer xxx or add names and capacity of HDDs I really like DesktopCentral, but I need all possible names of devices. Thank you
remote locations
The ability to choose a whole subnet versus choosing just ip addresses. if my remote location has 150 pc's, then I would like to just put in the network range instead. Chris Tornato
Helpdesk Request Subject List
I am using the Helpdesk request feature allowing our users to right click on the DC agent and create a helpdesk request. I noticed that the Subject setting under Admin/Help Desk Settings shows [MEDC] which uses an array of pre-populated variables allowing the end-user to select from a list when creating the helpdesk request. Is it possible to modify this list and populate with custom subjects and a custom body?
Remote Control time out issue
I have followed all the instructions to enable ActiveX per AdventNet. I also tried Java. Firewall is configured to allow port 8443. I am running the latest build. Client is Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1. Domain Users has local administrative rights. I get the dialog on the client to allow remote control, but it times out. I even tried increasing the time out 60, 90, 120 sec. Still does not work. Please advise, Niles
Delay Agent Service
Is there anyway to delay the startup of the dc agent on my client machines? In some cases it has caused severe delays in the user even being able to log onto the domain, in some cases 15 minutes or more. I tested and removed the agent and rebooted and startup was fine, re-deployed the agent and then rebooted and startup was painfully slow.
USB restrict by the user
Is there a way to allow the use of USB mass storage for certain users on a computer? Using security groups, we want to allow certain users R/W ability, others read only and the rest no access to USB mass storage. How can we accomplish this with Desktop Central? macintel

Patch Management over WAN
Hi, We started patch management using Desktop Central.We deploying patches across branches over the wan. I would like to know is it possible instead of every branch client comes for update from server, it should pick up from local pc.This local pc only will talk with server and download update.If any uncommon patch required then we will push from server. Re-download Office 2003 Service Pack 3
(I updated to DC 60308) I am trying to deploy Office 2003 Service Pack 3 through the install patch option to 23 machines. When it first downloaded the service pack before it started to deploy it gave me a connection error. So I tried again to depoly office sp3, it says its downloaded but it never runs, after 90 mins, a restart, or gpupdate, I let it run all night. So I downloaded office 2003 sp3 from microsoft and deployed it under software deployment with the option: Office2003SP3-KB923618-FullFile-ENU.exe

remote desktop
i am currently running a number of tests before i go ahead to order this software but i am getting this error when i try to take control of the workstation remotely. My installatiopn is ms win 2003 std edition "Internet Explorer has blocked this site from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner. As a result this page may not display correctly." What is the latest build? I am currently at 60204 and just read a post that mentioned 60207 -- I was under the impression that all hotfixes would be posted in a forum sticky thread - the only place I saw 60207 is in a blog dated 8/14/08. Missing Patches
Hi I am a very new user to Desktop Central and I am currently using it for my patch management tasks as well other desktop tasks. A few machines are reporting that they are fully patched in Desktop central however when I check it online with microsoft updates it shows up with about 18 patches missing. Is there someway to get a report available that lists both computer name and IP? I've looked through the various reports but I don't seem to be able to find one that provides that information. I know DC has that information at it's disposal. If such a report was available (AND able to sort by IP), it would provide a benefit to me by allowing me to capture that information and then create DC groups based on IP (a feature that has been requested by others and myself). Software Deployment
I am trying to deploy a small software package via Desktop Central. For the "Target" I am using IP addresses - each separated by a comma. There are several IPs - 10.10.10.75 through .254. After it installs the first one, it shows "Executed" even though it is still in progress. Once it fails on one computer, however, it shows a Failed status and stops (so it appears) the Configuration altogether. My network is one domain consisting of several subnets, but all of the workstations are in one OU. Since
office 2007 service pack 1
I tried doing a report issue on this but I don't think it went, after entering code page led to a blank page. version 60207 does correctly identify needed office 2007 patches, but it does not detect that service pack 1 has NOT been applied. I tested this on 2 new xp pro setups today. since sp1 addresses most of the items shouldn't it offer this? after wsus applied sp1 DC does report it as being installed though, so that is good. since I did apply sp1 I don't think there are any logs that will help
60207 version agent question
does the agent need to be updated after updating to the 60207 version?

computer disc reports
version 60207 disc summaries page shows multiple entries for each client, and most of them are way off on drive space. for example a laptop with 40gb drive shows 293 gb total space with 171 free, and its listed twice. is this reading mapped homefolders from AD ?
database location question
on previous versions wasn't there a way to manually choose the database location (drive) during install? or am I getting mixed up with some other AdventNet program. I'd like to place the database on a mirrored array. thanks.
last scan not complete messages-patch management
for last 2 days every system (server 2003 and xp pro) is showing no patches listed due to last scan not complete message. all are scheduled to scan every day so I know its been done, on a brand new xp sp2 (nothing else installed) install I manually scanned it and still get this message. I thought it may have been a time issue so I waited 24 hours, same issue. the new xp sp2 system is missing ALL patches/hotfixes so it should flag it. I'm rebooting the server now, if that does not rectify it what
WSUS Versus Desktop Central Patch Update
I am currently using the Desktop Central demo with two test Windows XP workstations. The features offered for remote management are great, but I have concerns regarding the patch update feature. I have been testing Desktop Central for the software Deployment aspect and is there a way I push out softare on the spot? The options show During or After Startup. What if I put a package together now and decide to push it to 5 machines that are already on? Do they have to reboot to start the install?

WSUS vs DesktopCentral Patch management
I've been noticing quite a few (don't have list on me) patches that DC states is critical and needed that have been deployed through WSUS. I verify this (after checking the WSUS status) by trying to reinstall the patch, so far they always come up as repair or remove. why is this? is it related to how WSUS deploys/names the installations?
