Logon failure: unknown username or bad password

Logon failure: unknown username or bad password

Hello,
  If I go to "patch scan", select my laptop and click "scan system", I get "Patch scan has been completed successfully", but the "last scan status" remains failed, and Remarks says "Logon failure: unknown username or bad password"
  Also, if I go to reports tab, I get "No Computer is being managed by Desktop Central." message. After clicking "Add Computer(s) in LAN" link [scope of management > add computers], I see 2 workgroups and my computer which belongs to WORKGROUP workgroup. Credentials for the WORKGROUP are:
Domain Name: WORKGROUP
Network Type: workgroup
Admin User Name: Owner
Password: [windows login password of the Owner]
DNS Suffix: [empty (left as --)]
Then why does it say no computers are managed by Desktop Central, and why I get the user name and password error?!
Notes:
- The laptop I have added as agent is the same as the manager, and I have both "ManageEngine Desktop Central" and the agent software installed on it. I reference one from the other by specifying its LAN[routher] IP address rather than just 127.0.0.1.
- The firewall ports are all open and no errors come from them (should be good)
- HTTPS is enabled for both manager and agent.
