Data Collection: Troubleshoot data collection issues in Exchange Server monitor

Prerequisites:

  1. Ensure that you have met all the prerequisites for the Exchange Server monitor.

Refer to the below error scenarios and refer to the respective troubleshooting steps.

No data collected for few metrics or all the metrics in Exchange Server monitor:

  1. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB to check if the data is been collected using Self Help tools or troubleshooting bat file.
    1. For WMI mode, check the respective metrics in the Self Help tools.
    2. For PowerShell mode, select the respective Mode and Role in the troubleshooting bat file to check the data.
      1. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB to run individual powershell scripts to check if the data is collected.

Error - "Unable to collect data for Database Statistics (or) Mailbox Statistics (or) Top Mailboxes (or) Inactive Mailbox Users":

  1. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB to run individual data collection scripts or to run direct commands to check the data.
  2. If you find "Timeout exceeded during script execution" as the reason for unable to collect data, then refer to the steps mentioned in this KB.

Error - "Unable to collect data for Performance Metrics (or) Server Component States":

  1. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB to run the respective individual scripts to check if data is being collected.
  2. If you find "Timeout exceeded during script execution" as the reason for unable to collect data, then refer to the steps mentioned in this KB.

Error - "Unable to fetch Exchange Queues":

  1. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB.

Error - "Unable to fetch Exchange Queues as CredSSP authentication is needed":

  1. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB.

Error - "Timeout exceeded during script execution":

  1. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB.

Error - "Unable to create remote PowerShell session":

  1. Ensure that you have met all the prerequisites.
  2. Refer to the steps mentioned in this KB to run the respective scripts for the metrics which are not collected due to the above error.
