SDP - New Incident - Select Assets - Add Column Customizer option
Hi, When using SDP, I've noticed that when a user creates a new incident and tries to select an asset, corresponding with the incident, only Asset Name column is available for view. I find this very confusing, as if Asset Name is just a general name with a running number (in my case barcode scanners are named TZ-BSCAN01, TZ-0BSCAN02, TZ-BSCAN03 and so on) it is impossible for the end user to figure out which one he needs to select (in my configuration, assets are assigned to a department, rather

Scanning network devices - printers
I'm running SDP Professional 7.6 Build 7604 and I'm trying to get SDP to scan my printers. I've verified they all have SNMP enabled. They're mostly Xerox, with some HP and Canon printers. SDP seems to be scanning them but only pulls the DNS name, it doesn't pull the type or serial # of the printer. Is this something SDP can't do? I'm trying to add all my network equipment into the Asset module of SDP to help with inventory. I'm starting with printers and then moving to routers and switches,
Add new assets to inventory upon Purchase Order completion (PO status - Received)
Hi, Right now in SDP when creating and finalizing a purchase order, the items of that order are not being added to the SDP inventory. Any ERP software would have this feature built in, so it would make sense if we had the same in SDP.
Asset Disposed Report
I am trying to create a report that will run every month, and it will list assets that we have disposed during that month. I'd like it to use the date that we actually switched the assets "Resourse State" to "Disposed" as the criteria in the date filter. Right now it only gives me the following options in the Date Filter - “Expiry Date” “Acquisition Date” “Lease Start” and “Lease End”. Editing the Default Asset Templates
As the subject suggests, is it at all possible to edit the Default Template that is created for Assets ? I would like to edit the workstation template rather then adding more and more Additional fields as it's applied to every Asset template (which brings up another point, is it possible to just add Additional fields to select assets ?) Identifying & scanning ThinClients as workstations
Hi there We recently moved from normal Windows workstations to Linux based ThinClients that connect to Citrix servers. Now - as already mentioned in this very old post: https://forums.manageengine.com/?ftid=49000002663641 - we have the problem that those workstations get only identified with their current IP, but cannot be scanned more detailled (it throws a connection error). I also cannot add all details to such a workstations, because SD+ will add the same workstation again as soon as it is deteced
Disappearing Asset information
We are currently using ServiceDesk Plus 7.605. When we dispose of computer assets, we mark them as disposed, and move them to a Non-IT asset category (example: HP Desktop - Discarded). We do this so that ServiceDesk does not try to scan those assets, and for better organization. When we move the records, we use the "MODIFY TYPE" feature. When I ran a report of the discarded assets, I found that the machine information (serial numbers, hardware info, etc...) was missing. The only thing that remained
Record Retention

Unassigned Workstation and Workstation Scanned Count is incorrect
Under the Scan Summary section of the Assets tab the "Unassigned Workstations" = 29 but when I click on it I only see 6 listed. I've changed the filters and can't figure out where the remaining 23 computers are. Could you possibly share the query being used so I can run it and see what other computers it thinks are unassigned? ------------ Also under the same Scan Summary section it lists "Workstations Scanned" = 3706 but when you click on it the result only show 3405 (All Workstations, All
multiple requesters assigned to one asset

Asset Resource Type Question
Hello, I'm trying to import assets into SDP 7.6. The goal here is to get the assets broken up by "Product Type" which seems to be giving me much grief. However I seem to be having issues getting that to happen. For Product Type I map it to a column in my spreadsheet called "Product Type". Under that I just have each asset set as "Switches". scheduled preventive maintenance by asset?
I work for a wood products manufacturer and due to the endless flow of dust in the facility the systems need to be blown out quite regularly. We currently have 92 systems in the plant, and what I would love to be able to do is have asset workstations schedule for preventive maintenance and updates revolving every 15-30 days depending on location in the plant. I have noticed that not all fields which are visible within the application are available in the report/export tool In particular, the "Cost", "Part No." and "Warranty Expiry Date" fields. Would anyone else like to be able to have ALL fields available?

Scheduled creation of requests based on assets
Hi I would like to auto create requests taken from an asset perspective. Eg. I have several windows server assets in SDP for which I have a monthly task of doing windows update and several other maintenance tasks, instead of making an "preventive maintenance" on each asset I would like SDP to make a rule that does this based on eg. asset type - is that possible or is it a new feature that you would have to develop? Asset Import Scripts (Saved mappings) Where are they?
I am curious if anyone else would like the ability to save/retain the mappings used when importing data... We regularly add new assets to our inventory and retire others, usually in "batches", which can be as few as ten or twenty or as many as a thousand or more assets. Assign Product Cost to Assets
Hi there, we have purchased 40 PCs ("P2550") and ran the network and domain scan in ServiceDeskPlus Professional. Then, we created a vendor and product and linked the product "P2550" with this vendor. The PCs cost 310€ each. Asset scan at logon via script
Hey there; Surely someone's asked about this before. Sorry for the repeat if that's so. I'm having trouble finding the documentation for setting up asset scans when the user logs in to the domain. Asset scans based on a schedule are great, but I'd also like to be able to do so in a windows login script so that computers not powered on during the scheduled scan are counted. Can someone please point me to the right documentation to do this? --James
Add comments to state change
I would find it very usefull if I could add comments to the state change. E.g. if asset state is changed to "in repair" it would be great to have a comment field where I can add for instance the RMA number or other details. That way I wouldn't have to search through the tickets to find that information. Assign Asset with Business Rule
Is there a way the business rule can assign an asset? This could be very handy when e.g. a printer sends an e-mail to servicedesk with the error message. This printer could be automatically linked via the asset to the problem. At this moment, this is still a manual action creating time.
How to handle Software Assurance in Software licensing
How do people handle software assurance in the software licensing part of asset module? Ive just realised that i have both licenses with SA and licenses without. I can see this may cause much pain in the future, Especially when you use SA to upgrade and deploy a newer version of an application. Do you make seperate entries with expiries for the SA software and no expiry for the non SA software?
Change standard view within the Assets tab
Standard view for Assets > Software > Software Licenses shows all the license keys. Problem with this, we do not want everyone who has the permission to see Assets to be able to see all the license keys on the software media. I spoke to Charles regarding this last week from Service Desk Plus Support, he suggested to place this enhancement. We are running on Version 7.6.0 build 7604

They have identical names because placed in diffirent locations When I import them from xml scan from the standalone scan they are update each other. How can I import them in SD? How can I do a software audit report?
I want to produce a list of all our software, which software type it comes under and how many installations of the software exist. The only report which seemed like it could meet these criteria was the matrix table, I could sort the Y axis by Software Type and then Software Name, but the problem is that there is nothing in the X axis drop down so I cannot produce this report. Asset Scan failure
A laptop harddrive failed and the technician replaced it with another harddrive (the laptop name, serial number, etc remained the same), Within Assets, the laptop was still displayed but when he went to Scan Now to run an update on this laptop a failure message popped up. I saw the laptop that he forced a scan on and it was defiantly connected to the network at the time of the forced scan. Reason this occured? Make software reports more useful
Currently software reports are less than useful because they generate large amounts of duplicate information, such as listing the publisher for a piece of software which has 500 entries. At the same time, useful unique information such as which workstation is this software on and who owns the asset, are not available. I propose that information which allows the identification of location and owner be made available to software reports.
Auto Calculation for Warranty
Under Assets, we always go in and modify each product to set what its warranty period is. For example a laptop we just got in has 3 years worth of warranty. It would be nice if SDP would auto-calculate the warranty period, when we put in the acquisition date. So if we put in the acquisition date of 3/1/2010 on a particular asset, then SDP would auto-fill the Warranty Expiry field with 3/1/2013.

Node licenses
Nodes are listed as covering assests, but is that only scanned assets, or is that all assests both scanned and manually entered? If the later is there a way to get a full listing of every single asset?
Asset Software Management
I'm trying to sort out our software licensing in service desk but its proving rather frustrating. For starters, to associate minor versions, the software has to be managed, but for example adobe reader, is freeware so i want to put it under the freeware category and associate all the minor versions but i cant. We have several licences of adobe creative suite but i can't associate all the different software which comes as the package with the one license (dreamweaver, photoshop, fireworks etc) I
Set default asset for a Request template (PRINTER)
Hi, Is it possible to set a default "asset\asset group" for a Request Templates? We would like to make it as easy and quick as possible to select correct problem asset. This issue comes up e.g. in printer problems. If the users (or techniccians) have to go through long menus to set the correct printer, it's not going to get done. Asset Resource Permissions
Is it possible or would it be possible to give certain users permission to only certain resource types? For example: We have IT Assets\Switches but would only like 2 technicians to be able to view and modify the assets, but the other technicians can view and modify other resource types?
What does the IP by a workstation represent?
Is this the IP of the machine the last time it was successfully scanned, or the IP of the machine the last time SDP attempted to scan it?
Asset scan detecting removed software
One of our machines had had FrontMotion's Mozilla Firefox Community Edition deployed to it via a group policy, this install was also listed in Add/Remove Programs. This was then uninstalled, also via group policy and disappeared during a successful removal from Add/Remove Programs. However, the SDP asset scan is not seeing the software as removed, it sees no software changes on the machine. Why is it not seeing the removal of the software and how can I correct that?
Problem while fetching workstations in the domain.
We have configured the Audit settings in our ServiceDesk Plus 7.0 Build 7022, which should automatically add new workstations every 5 days. Asset Scanning - Linux/SSH
I am trying to use the Asset portion of ServiceDesk Plus to collect inventory from some linux systems. I have tried adding a system through the Asset section and through Admin->Asset Management->Network Scan In both cases I indicate the IP address and that SSH should be used. The scan window pops up and after a few minutes it fails saying that the "Connection to RPC server in the workstation failed" which looks to me like it's trying to treat it as a Windows system even though I specified SSH.
