Searching via service tag
HI all, Would it be possiable to search the service tag which is with workstation. Because we asset tag each of our machines i like to have a search where i do not have to do two searches to find a machine. Because we have so many machines its hard to know what the pc name is for most of them. Thanks, Ross
Adding systems with the seed.file
I've specified systems to be added in the seed.file using the DISCOVER_IP mechanism like so: </TO_DISCOVERIP> <ip NODE_ID="172.30.40.28" NETMASK="255.255.255.0" DISCOVER_PARENTNET="false" COMMUNITY="community"/> </TO_DISCOVERIP> The systems are being discovered but the SNMP community string being used for all systems is "public", rather that the COMMUNITY string I specified in the seed file. All the systems then end up as "Unknown". (This technique works fine in OpManager).

is there a way to make the message fields in the alarm area accept more characters. i need to see more message detail in my alerts. please advise.

remove a device error
I am trying out OpManager, and upgraded the server with the service pack. It's been running fine. Today I enabled SNMP on a win2003 server and tried to set it up for traffic monitoring. I added a monitor for one of the interface card profiles, and when I click on Edit, i get a page that says "Error!" if I check the box next to it and hit remove...the page refreshes and it's still in the list. I don't like the error message being so blank...but can anyone help me remove this device?

Having problems getting some networks into OpManager. Sometimes I get the "Please enter a valid Network Address" error on the web admin page, but it works in the client Discovery Settings page, but now it's not working on either. The client window appears to input and accept the networks, but they don't "stick." I go right back into the window and the changes I made aren't there. The networks I'm trying to input are 10.254.0.0 / 255.255.255.252; 10.254.0.4 / 255.255.255.252; through 10.254.0.16 /

Unsolicited Traps
I have added a device to be monitored and it appears correctly as a server. However I am sending unsolicited traps via the subagent to Opmanager and I am unable to receive them. I have disabled other SNMP applications that may conflict with OpManager, but my main issue at the moment is that in the "Devices to watch" screen this server does not appear - althought the other devices defined to OPManager do...... Any ideas on what I should do to get this to appear in the "Devices to watch" screen? Thank

Minor Bug / URL Monitor Names / Infrastructure vs Admin tab
I've been tweaking a lot of URL monitors, and noticed a reproducable bug you might already know of. When I edit a URL monitor from the main URLs view (main page infrastructure views | URLs | click to edit a monitor), to (for instance) add a secondary email address under the SEND TO, when I go to SUBMIT the changes the edit is rejected with an error msg that says spaces are not allowed (refers to the URL monitor name), the same action also clears the URL Monitor Name field, readying the cursor for

how does opmanager perform its up/down status polls? Does it perform an icmp ping to get device status or does it perform and snmp get. If icmp how can can you set the retries to a higher number before saying a device is down?
disable iterms in "Infrastructure Views"
It is nice to have more and more iterms available. However, not everybody need the same catagories. Is there anyway to check them off. That is, if I don't monitor desktop or have no interest in printer, I would rather not to have them in the list to confuse the operators. Thanks, Min

Is it possible to put in an html formated table into a ServiceDesk solution? If this is not possible I would like to request this as a feature for future development. I have several tables that need to be availible in my knowledge base and pasting the html into the solution doesn't have near the desired results :) Thanks.
SMS Message Customization
I know there is a way to customize the overdue request SMS notification message, but what I need is to customize the SMS sent to technician when a ticket is created. This by default sends out way too much text when what I really need is just the description of the ticket. Is there a way to customize the ticket creation notification SMS message?
management station collection station

Problems and feature suggestions
I've been evaluating OpManager for a couple of weeks now, and it's pretty good for the price. I'm having a few problems (probably just configuration issues). Running OpManager Build 5510 Problems: 1. Everytime the computer hosting the OpManager service reboots, extra lines get put into the message section of my notification profiles. This is annoying as you have to go in and delete them everytime. I'm running it on Windows XP Pro at the moment for eval purposes. After a reboot it looks like this:

OPManager Memory lockup
Several issues have occurring and I need some assistance. 1. I cannot view tab labels using the Java client. I was told this was fixed in 5510 but still have the same issue. 2. OPManager will constantly freeze and show network discovery happing for days at a time. XP Task Manager shows Java using over 250MB of memory. I stop the server and reboot the machine but the problem will evetually happen again. The memory leak I have read about still seems to happen on this machine. 3. Networks that I have
In/Out traffic not showing on each interface
I have a 2611 router with 4 interfaces (2 serial T1s and 2 Ethernet). In the Dashboard view the two Ethernet interfaces show activity on the IN Traffic column, but the OUT Traffic column shows no activity. On the Serial interfaces the results are similar except they are reversed, with the OUT Traffic column showing activity and the IN Traffic showing none. I was told by a friend that it could have to do with an ACL on the interface restricting flow information. If this is true I would like to know
get alarmed with unmanaged/unnotified interfaces
OpManager 5.5 build 5510. Router Cisco 2810 with interfaces fa 0/0, fa 0/1, fa 0/0/0 to fa 0/0/3, vlan 1 to vlan 4 amd some virtual interfaces. Only fa 0/0, fa 0/1 and vlan3 are selected to manage and notify but OpManager keeps setting the router in alarm state "Trouble" with message "FastEthernet0/0/3 is down, Vlan1 is down, Virtual-Template1 is down, Virtual-Access1 is down". Starting Apache Separately
Hi, I'm running WebNMS on linux machine. I've seen all the posts on adding libraries to your bundled apache. But that seems quite difficult. I don't want to install Debian either. Anyway, I have my own apache server running. And I can change the document directories to the WebNMS directory so that all the jar files are found. However, now when I run startnms, it would check the port 9090 (that's what I set for my apache) and gives an error that the port should be freed up. If I modify the startwebserver

Monitoring a cluster
Hi I used Applications Manager for my diploma work, I built a MySQL-Cluster and a JBoss-Cluster. The MySQL-Cluster (or JBoss-Cluster) is unavailable if both instances are down, how can I configure that in one monitor group (I could make a monitor group for each cluster, then it would be useful to group both monitor group into a parent monitor group). Do I something wrong or does the Applications Manager not support clustering? Cheers Andy
