question from acomplete novice
Hi folks i have recently downloaded the free application manager 6. Unfortunately when i open the application manager start window it won't let me type anything inside and dissapears after about 10 seconds. Is there something stupid that i'm missing. Many thanks Ernie (confused novice)
WebSphere 5/6 configuration
The prerequisites for monitoring WebSphere include moving Jars from the WAS/lib to AppMgr/was/lib directory. Some of the jars required exist under WAS 5.1.n.m but not 6.0.n.m. Below I posted the check sum and block count between the two. If I need to monitor both versions of WAS (this check sum for all files was run on the same Linux server) 1) Is this possible? 2) How would I configure AppMgr to do this considering the differences between the different jars? Alert Lags
We are having intermittent issues with alerts and polling. For example a server went down, which was running tomcat, db2 and snmp. The first monitor to alert was a http-url sequence. Then about 30 minutes later snmp alerted, then 60 minutes later tomcat alerted, then another hour db2 alerted and then in another hour the server alerted. When the issue was finally resolved we still have monitors that are lagging to report they are clear. Additionally their next poll values are in the past? What is
Restore backup from 5003 to 5008
I have a backup from version 5003 and I need to restore it to a new install of version 5008 but it will not restore using the batch file in version 5008. Can someone help?
Report Feature Bug
Today we were attempting to generate a report for the date of 4/28/06 only. In the Time Period box, we changed the 'Choose a time period' section to 'Last Week'. We then entered 4/28/06 for the From and To in the Custom Period. But after clicking Generate, the report includes other dates. I just tested on your demo, and it does the same thing. Thanks David
discovery community string
Hi Is there a way to configure each network subnet to be discovered/rediscovered with a different SNMP community string? The way OpManager works now during discovery it tries all predefined cama seperated community strings until one matches. This is causing the devices to generate and send authentication failure traps which is causing annoyance to the security administrators. Thanks Ramzi

Trial Period - Can't Configure 5 servers
We're currently evaluating App Manager and have a trial installation, which we had hoped to configure with 5 Tomcat servers for a period of time to measure stability and performance. Unfortunately each time a Tomcat server is added the underlying Windows server is also added. Removing the Windows server also removes the Tomcat monitor. After the third Tomcat server has been added (total of 6 monitors) App Manager will not allow another server to be added - persumably because there are 6 monitors
cant get client PC's data....
hi, just installed OPManager 6 (the free test version) Network: 2x windows Server 2003, clients on XP pro (all patched up) TCP/IP network. I cant seem to get any info off the clients, they seem to be detected. Ive added the SMNP services to the clients, so OPm detects them ok. But no monitoring works or installed software etc. Also non of them have a blue star next to them (my own one does) Ive added SMNP port 161 to the windows firewall (we have a hardware firewall but thats only to the outside
Re-Discovery process
OpManager scans for new devices during each Re-Discovery process. How do you turn off Re-Discovery or have it check every 30 days rather than 15 days. It would be nice to be able to turn off or more than 15 days of a Re-Discovery. Thanks :?:

Monitoring Windows Disk Space
He guys, ive just installed the latest version of this absolutely fantastic app. I got through monitoring so much more than ive ever been able to before such as exchange data and the great way everything is displayed. My only problem, the Disk space monitor for my windows servers (with WMI) is only monitoring my C: drive, i partition like a crazy man and have up to 4 partitions (disk arrays) that are on servers. So how do i get it to (preferably) monitor all of them or at least specify the disk its
Device Name not showing up on Reports
When I run a report, (any report), the device name is only populated by the ip address not the device name that I have specified for the object. How/where do I correct this problem? Robert

Am tring to configure a weblogic app server behind a firewall. I can easily change the listen port of the apache to so thing that is open like port 80 what else has to be done in order to get it to work? weblogic log. question on collectors
In reading the documentation for Cisco it speaks about using netflow to export to collectors. Does this product work as a stand alone collector that you can view all of the information as I did in the demo? thanks, George
One bug and one request
BUG: If you check the option for a contact to see all ticket for their account they can only see there tickets. Add request: It would be nice to have the user see the time that was entered on a ticket of theirs. Our customers like to be able to see this if they login.

I reported a week or so ago about $RequestLink not showing up as a real link in notifications going out to customers. It shows up as big blue text, but not as a real link. I didn't recall seeing a response to this. Was this something that was going to be fixed?

I have created a very simple business rule that states that any call that comes in with category of "Server" should have priority changed to "1.High" and assigned to queue "Hardware Support" This does not seem to be working? Fetching asset Details from the Inventory Scan
Hi there, I've observed that a workstation is not treated as an asset by itself. When running a query to check the assets present in the organization, it gives me all the assets that i have entered manually or from Purchase orders. However, It would be nice to have an option available so that from the inventory itself i can add/update my workstations also as an Asset. I hope my point is clear. Regards, Roshan
Problem editing technicians info.
Hey :) I'm having problems editing technicians, when I try, I only get 3 fields to edit: Name, Employee ID and E-mail. Phone is also listed, but there is no field to edit. I should have admin rights, and I recall being able to edit all of the tech's info. We just upgraded to SP8, but the problem was also present before the upgrade. Default Admin details on Logon Page
Just have a couple of things: 1. Even after changing the default admin account password the logon page for Netflow Analyser still shows the "For Default User" information. Can this be turned off? 2. Also is there any instructions on customising the logon page and logo's for the application as we would like to give access to some of our premium customers. Thanks for your assistance.

timeout
Hello everyone, I am having a login timeout issue with OP Manager. Evrytime i login to opmanger, it kicks me out after a short tme, such as 3-4 mins, and I have to login again. Sometimes it kicks me out sooner. I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and if there is a fix. Also, does it matter if there is only one account for OP Manager, and if two people are logged in using that account, if one person would kick out the other?? Any help would be appreciated.... Where are the device configurations stored? Specifically what I am looking for is where MSP stores the custom monitor associated with a specific device. I know the monitors themselves are stored in the opmanager_graphInfo.xml. But once you apply a monitor to a device where is that info stored? Robert

I'm having issues getting OpManager to start on 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise 4 system. I've narrowed the problem down to the Webserver itself. Using OpManager with UNIX, Oracle on UNIX, and Maestro
Can anyone direct us toward any information available on using OpManager with UNIX, Oracle databases (running on UNIX), and Maestro? OpManager is a fine monitoring tool for Windows applications and we're interested in getting the most out of it as possible, if it can do even more. Thanks, -Ryan

Email Alerts
Hello, I am having problems with email alerts. I have configured the mail settings and when I send a test message everything works fine, but when an alert triggers a message my email server rejects it as a relay message. I have configured my email server to accept relay from the OpManager server but still fails. I am using GroupWise 7.0 I tried using another SMTP server (IIS) and also fails. OpManager is installed on Windows 2000 professional sp4. Previously I installed in on Windows XP for testing
MIB Browser in web client:build 6004-BROKEN!!

the problem with thresholds is there's no range option: take UPSInputLineVoltage for example you can only have one (yes u could make a different custom monitor) but say you need an alarm when it's less than x or greater than x there's no easy way to do this

Hi, I've just started to use this great piece of software and I realise there is a network map type of view but I was wondering (maybe I'm missing something here, did a search could not find exactly what I was after).
