Starting Eventlog Analyzer as non-root
I was wondering how to start Eventlog analyzer as non-root user. It is possible to log is as the necessary user and start it, but how can it be done in the startup script inside /etc/init.d/ , so it is started by the necessary user after restart? The platform is Debian Linux.

Is there a plan to implement a way to track contracts you have with individuals or accounts? I noticed this feature was available in SD+ and would like to see it added to the roadmap for SC+ if possible.
Changing subnet adress not possible...
Hi, We are using internal network 192.168.1.1 with subnet 255.255.0.0 but when I try to set up this in address monitor I just can use subnet 255.255.255.0. Can this be changed or how can I do to get this working? /Martin
URL Monitor Response Threshold
Hi, We have URL monitors setup on our front-end web servers and Op manager is monitoring if the URL is up or down on the monitored system. It's also recording response times. What I want to do is configure an action when the response time breaches a threshold. There appears to be no option to set a threshold for the URL monitor on the Edit page. Can this be done? What I intend to do it send an iisreset if the threshold is breached or the url doesn't return. Cheers in advance...

Hello, During the evaluation of your ELA product a question came to mind. How would I create a report that will only return a specific event ID and allow me to save it as a csv or pdf? What I did: Choose "My Reports" -> "Add New Report" Selected Customer Report with Event Filters Selected MyGroup Selected Next Entered the Event ID I am trying to look for and selected my type/severity. Missing filter area on Inventory
Occassionally, the filter on the inventory screen (both preset and advanced) disappears. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this and how to get it back. Products vs Assets
Ok getting to grips with this now. I have "Assets", "Vendors", "Products" and "Licences" but when I raise a Purchase order I only appear to see ONE item in my list of available items to add. where am I going wrong? Basically I have Hardware, Monitors, Keyboards, Printers and Software. It is the Software that causes me the most grief so that is where i want to get to.

AD Import Bug
Hi, I recently tried to do an import from AD to add my new users. We have approximately 5000 users. About 80% of the import succeeded and the remainder failed. After that, I tried a few small imports (90-100 users each) and those failed as well. I saw a thread here about AD import being a memory hog, and sure enough, after the imports, my SDP instance was using upwards of 1.5GB of memory. Administrator account in AD has full access
Hi, I imported all AD users into the system. I only want to have the 3 user technicians that I have setup to have full access. When I log onto the system with our domain/administrator this account has full access to the product. I uninstalled and reinstalled the product and then just imported the OU groups that I wanted and without any Administrator accounts to see if this would work but it still allows domain/administrator to log in with full access. Can this be disabled? As I only want to give
Local Authentication
Hi, The application has been working ok. However now when I add a new requester they have to use "local authentication" and not the domain. When they try to use the domain they get "Username or Password is incorrect". When the use local authentication its fine" Can you please advise. Thanks Mike
Technician's Rights
I want to setup SD with 5 technicians, 2 for hardware 2 development. I want to prevent one team from seeing the others and visa versa. I also want all 4 technicians NOT to be able to delete any tickets. They can assign/reassign/open/close but NOT delete. This right should only be at the manager�s level. Is this possible and how can I do this?

Hi, I have a threshhold against a sun server that will alert a critical is the cpu utilisation goes above 98%. the monitor checks every 5 mins and I have set the polls to try to 6 so I only expect to be alterted if the cpu goes above 98% for 30 mins. This is not working as I expect. There is a scheduled job that runs at 19:30 every day (runs oracle db exports) and every day I get an alert at 19:33 for the cpu above 98%. Have I set this up wrong? Make time entry notes searchable?
Currently under the "Add time Entry" section at the bottom of requests you are able to make notes about time added to the call. This notes field does not appear to be searchable when searching requests using the search bar on the left. Would it be possible to have this changed or have an option in settings to choose what is searchable and what isn't?
Materials cost added to request, like time entry
It would be great to be able to add materials costs to a request, for example when a piece of hardware or software is required to resolve the issue. Time entry is nice, and I suppose we could add the material cost to the 'charges' field there, but having a separate 'materials' table similar to time entry would be much better. I envision these fields: quantity description $ amount for each line item. Of course, a report that includes the material costs (along with time spent) is a natural progression...
Bug in search solutions when use more than one search word??

community string + Auth failure
Hi, We use on our network 5 different community strings to manage our snmp enabled devices. I entered the community strings in Admin > SNMP Parameters and started the network autodiscovery. Soon after the descovery started I started getting loads of authentications failures from all devices. It looks like Opmanager tries the community strings one after the other until one matches. Is it possible to assign a community string for each subnet? I tried to do that in the seed.file but I guess it only
Transferring OpManager Database Between Servers.
I have added a new server to our network which will take over the position of monitoring from our current server. I attempted a backup db on the old server, copying the file to the new server and performing a restore, but it gives me a "Problem downloading BE files". I also attempted performing a RepairDB, which found a few problems, but it still gives me the BE error. David.

hello, the tables on the dashboard (server with high cpu last 24 hours, high memory etc.) didn't refresh -> since 1-2 weeks there are the same values there. is there a way to "reset" the dashboard? thanks, martin

Interface Utilization
I'm running the eval of OpManager and I'm trying to get the % utilization on my firewall interfaces. Everything is working as far as collecting data from the firewall, but I'm not seeing exactly what I would like. The outside interface of our firewall is running at 100Mb, but we only have a 3Mb connection to the Internet, so at full load I would see 3% Interface utilization. Is there any way to change OpManager to show me the utilization of our Internet bandwidth and not the Interface bandwidth?
Which has more info: WELF or SYSLOG?
Is one format better than the other? I have a Fortigate box that can send logs via syslog or welf formats - does one provide more detail than the other? I notice in a post here there were issue generating the virus report which showed some syslog messages - does welf also provide these messages? Should I send both formats to FA to cover my bases? But i can ping and telnet the device from the server and if i finish manually the add device, the device can be backuped and telneted by the application. Performance report
When you look at the last 7 days of CPU performance it only shows the hourly average. Is there any way to decrease this to a 10 or 5 minute average? This way it will show us more detail on how the server is performing. Thanks Peter

Mozilla 1.3 Beta warning
Hi, I've started to use Safari (2.0.4) on my Apple, running Tiger. When I view any page in SC that has a rich text panel on it, I get a pop up warning saying that it may not work on Mozilla 1.3 Beta or less. Can this be disabled ? The rich text box works fine in Safari and its a pain to have to close that pop up each time. Also, on the support tab of SC, when viewed in Safari, some of the lines of text appear as blue on very dark grey, making them almost unreadable. They are all the titles in the

MS RADIUS (IAS)
Is it supported? It seems like FA expects radius logs via syslog (which IAS doesn't appear to support - only logging to a file, local event log and a SQL box). I suppose if FA could read a local table we could log direct from IAS to a MySQL table in FA... Is there any chance FA could just download and parse the log files via FTP or UNC etc? I guess the only other way around this would be to run an eventlog-> syslog client on the IAS server and given the format of the syslog message FA is expecting,
