Custom Monitors - Testing Failed
Hi, I'm relatively new to OpManager and have been trying to add a custom monitor that uses a WMI visual basic script to monitor whether a server is attached to its cluster. I have followed multiple guidelines found on these forums until i have: 1. Copied the Script to the correct Folder (I have tested the code in cmd and it works fine) 2. Edited the 2 necessary .xml files 3. Added the monitor to a test server The test server isn't load balanced so the usual script will not work, however i have created

Linux CPU Monitor Doesn't Work
I'm running net-snmp on my linux server and all the stats are comming in great, however CPU monitoring refuse to work. It returns 0% even though top shows 20% for cpu usage.
New Feature Request
It would be very helpful if there was a way to view who is logged onto opmanager at a gven time. Just so if there is matinace require on the OPmanger database, we could see the users, either username or ip address and notify them only.
is it possible to write text on displayed graphs?
Hello everybody, I am monitoring my file systems but the fact is that I have too many and in OpManager, the graphs are displayed but their name are not shown. We can see only the oid : .0, .1, .5, .11 which is not very clear. I would like to write manually the name of the file system above each graphs... Is it possible? Thank you! Best Regards, J.
Backplane utilization not showing up
I've got a few Catalyst 65xx and 55xx series switches in my environment and I'd like to get the backplane utilization out of it. I've setup OpManager 5.5 on a box and sucessfully added the device but the % backplane and CPU utilization don't show up, but the memory utilization does. Any ideas on how I can get it running? Thanks.
event history size
Hi, The event history is limited to 1000 rows. My router only sends snmp traps about the connections. It would be cool if I could somehow do the following: 1) increase the # of rows to 5000 2) have an sql statement to pull out the data so a log processor can scan for idr I think the file is DBObjects.conf in the conf directory. I increased everything from 1000 to 5000. But this didn't work. I must be missing another config file. Any ideas of which one it could be?
Wake On Lan not working
Anyone else having this issue? When I originally installed and tested the product, the wake on lan function worked wonderfully. We were able to select multiple systems and wake them without a hitch. However, now that we've purchased the product, I am unable to even get the page to generate the list properly so that I can select multiple systems to wake. Any fixes for this? We are running Windows Server 2003 (Standard) and have already applied SP2 to OpUtils 3.2. We are also using McAfee Enterprise
Problem with Device
Hello ! We are currently testing a free version of OpManager (Build number 6003) in your School to supervise our network. Test is done with a Windows 2003 Server, a management station with XP Pro, a 3Com SuperStack3 4226T Switch and a Cisco Catalyst 2950 Switch. URL Monitoring
Hi! I've noticed that OpManager sends Email Warnings for URL Monitoring with a different sender address. (noreply@adventnet.com) All my normal warnings have the sender address I have defined in the Email Profile. Probe down not showing in the customer dashboard (MSP)
I wonder if it is a feature, or just a bug I had problem with communication with one probe. The alarm was detected and generated with category "probe". The problem is that this alarm was among other alarms. Since thre was no other alarm for that specfic probe, the first look at the dashboard (on the home page) was showing no error and it apperead as if everything was OK Suggestion 1 : add a column or some error indication in the dashboard to show probe status. OpManager Service Discovery
Hi all, I have a question concerning the service discovery. All the services that I checked in the "Service Monitor" section were discovered automatically when I added a device. I have added a new service (citrix) and I would like it to be discovered on my old devices already added since a long time. Funkyness after 1 week (Error!)
I can not go into some of the monitor configurations (resource monitors, traffic monitors, etc) and when I try it comes to a super simple "Error!" page. I have tried the repairdb.bat utility with no real luck. What is going on with OpManager?
HP JetDirect
Anyone having success monitoring HP JetDirect connected devices? I am trying to monitor HP DesignJet plotters with the jetdirect card and the printers show up as desktop devices with no option to move them to the "printers" group. I can; however, monitor these devices using snmp and the HP Web Jet Admin tool. Any suggestions would be greatly helpful.

Bizarre problem
I have installed Opmanager at two separate client locations and as of Tuesday evening they both have started acting weird. One simply doesn't show the server info on the front page anymore. Not that big of deal since everything else seems to be functioning properly. Also we are unable to run any reports from this server, "No Data Available". The other one is by far more troublesome. Monitoring SQL with Named Pipes instead of 1433?
I need to monitor a server that does not have TCP/IP enabled for SQL and I cannot enable it. Is it possible to monitor SQL functions through Named Pipes instead of TCP port 1433? Thank you. -Eric.
Trap (Unable to receive any trap)
I am unable to receive any trap with OpManager. I've written a trap generator and all my MIBs files have been verified by OpManager. I've also set up a trap processor by following the instructions, but there is still no trap received even in the unsolicited trap view. The traps generated by the generator can be received by the SNMPUTIL.exe from the Windows Resource Kit and the other application. It will be much appreciated if anyone could tell me how I can get it work.
Discover network the first time, then stop
I have a network (39 nodes) I want the probe to discover. SOme are DHCP, some are Fixed IP. I want to let the Probe discover the network. Once that is done, I would like it to stop the autodiscovery, and I would delete the nodes I dont want to monitor. I looked in previous post, and it is not quite clear to me how it is applicable in a MSP version. What in the seed.file of the central I need to modify? what in the probe seed.file ? I also noticed that DHCP Discovery is set to false . DOes it mean
Rearranging Business views
How do you rearrange the business view order on the left side of the screen in OpManager. I know it lists them in the order they were created but is there a way to go back and rearrange them afterward? I have 60 business views and I need the more important ones at the top of the list. Thanks!
"ignore the event" in OpManager Monitors Eventlog
What I want is to use a "Description string",- to identify any/all event type,- that contains string,- for example: "has started",- and then IGNORE THE EVENT. It does not work. It must work for ANY and ALL: - Event ID - Source - Category - User And ALL Event Types Therefore I type nothing in: - Event ID - Source - Category - User And I select ALL Event Types And (for example) I type "has started" in Description contains string. And I select: " Or, ignore the event" However I still get Critical alarms
MySQL db error - SQLException while getting database connect

New Feature request - Change to Alarm escalations
Can you please make it so alarm escalations can be by device as well as by category? Also make it so we get a device name as well as IP. Right now if I have more than 1 device in a router category down I only get one email listing all the affected devices by IP address. I was able to get a OpManager to show the device name in the subject using $displayName but that is only good if only one device is down at a time. Thanks!

I'm running a fresh install of ServiceDesk v5501 and an upgraded install OpManager v6005 and I'm having a difficult time trying to get OpManager to open a ticket for a device that is not responding. I have followed the easy setup instructions, but it is just not working. Any ideas or is this an open issue?

taking out traps for IDR
Hi, I have some traps being collected by op manager in the form Traffic .1.3.6.1.4.1.3955.1.1.0: @out TCP from 192.168.66.7:1453 to forums.adventnet.com(64.41.199.22):80 I would like to have these traps somehow morphed into the firewall program. I would also like to have more than 1000 traps / device / day. How can I do this?

Hi, I'm trying OpManager and I think it's a very good product. But there is a very important thing that's cause me a disappoint. Before buy the license I had made an assessment to security issue. I've found that all passwords are sent in clear between OpManager and my Windows servers. Why????? I was thinking that all credentials was sent in a secure mode......but.... How can I by-pass this problem? I'm very intersted to this product but I can't buy if I don't resolve this problem Thanks in advance

Using MSSQL With OpManager
I'm trying to get MSSQL working with opmanager with no success. I installed SQL on a 2k3 std box, opmanager on another, and couldn't connect as it said there were port/host issues. So I installed a fresh version of SQL on a different box, installed a fresh opmanager on the same box, now I get an "Error in connection. Verify the details" error box. If I type in a bogus account it'll say incorrect password. I tried the JDBC update and made the changes to the database_params and wrapper file as indicated

Hi, Would it be possible allow discovery of 'subranges' within a subnet. For example we use B-class subnets for each site. Currently to discovery a whole subnet I need to enter 150.150.0.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. This takes a long time We restrict different type of devices to different ranges. 150.150.121.0 with a mask of 255.255.0.0 is for servers and 150.150.222.0 255.255.0.0 is printers and so on.
