Is a serial connected gsm modem or telephone the only supported way if you want the sms functionality in op manager? I have tried with a sonyericsson w800 via usb, but op manager says that the modem is not connected properly. check your settings. Regards Stefan
More options for user priveleges
When logged on as admin. In the users section. Is it possible to add more restriction, rather than just read only? Could this be added as a feature. We want to add access to some of our users but not let them see certain parts of the application. Thanks Andrew
question about compaq temperature monitoring
Hi all, I have setup temperature monitoring for Hp/compaq servers. All works fine, but when I check the graphs I receive 7 different graphs with the names 0.1 degree celsius 0.2 degree celsius until 0.7 degree celsius. What do all these graphs mean? Does the server have 7 different temperature censors? If so, it is impossible to see which censor is used for what purpose. Anybody knows? Thanks in advance

We have a number of customer sites and I have installed a probes at these sites. Even though we have VPNs to the sites, I have set up the central server and probes to communicate over the internet - I've done this so that if the VPN is down, the probe can still communicate. Memory Utilization For Linux Servers
I'm using free version of OPmanager6 on windows2k to monitor RehatAS servers. For memeory utilization, opmanager is monitoring RAM only not including swap space. I'm using telnet/SSH based monitoring. How include the RAM+Swap space in memeroy utilization statistics. Regards, Raj.
Scale on SNMP graphs do not seem to be correct
Using the newest release of OpManager it appears that the scale on the snmp graphs seems to be incorrect. I believe the rise and falls of the graph are correct, however, the scale on the Y axis is incorrect. For example, on a link that hosts over 30 computers it is telling me the highest traffic level has been 200 K. This seems hard to believe. I am getting the same thing for the traffic reports on my windows servers.

I cant seem to monitor a Microsoft Team Server - URLS /....asmx how come?? says can not find host, but when im on the monitoring server i can access it via IE.
Windows Service Monitors not available under RHEL4
We've just gone from testing to production with OpManager. Our test installation ran from a Windows XP box and we had no real issues. The production system is running of RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 and I've found that Windows Service Monitors and Event Log Monitors are not available. They are not even present on the ADMIN page as options. Does the Linux edition not have the ability to monitor Windows services, or am I missing a dependency somewhere?
AD plugin not licensed
Hi, I have this issue. I haven't purchase license for AD plugin. When OpManager rediscovers my DCs it moves them to Domain Controllers container. This is annoying as I have to move it back to Servers container. Furthermore, when the DC is moved all history information for that server is deleted. Is there anyway to avoid this behavior? Disk Monitor SNMP or WMI
I would like to be able to define a monitor with proper thresholds in the admin section and apply that to all servers. The problem I have is I setup a threshold but the A drive and CDrom drive keep reporting 0mb free and kicking off an alert. Is there a way to exclude these devices on a global level or do I have to setup a resource monitor on each server individually. Your help is appreciated. -Tony

Problem adding interface to a device
Hi, When I go to a server device and I click on rediscovery button from interface, the interface is detected. I check the box for the interface and I click on the add button and I receive a messager for successully added the interface to the device and the page is refresh and the interface is not displayed. The server is a Windows 2003. When I choose a server in the Domain Controller with the AD monitor, I can't discover and add interface. What is wrong ? Thanks, Steve

F5 Big-IP Products
Any possibility of supporting the F5 Big-IP load balancing products? They use wierd SNMP stuff, OIDs like .1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.2.3.1.1 which include 3375 (I think SNMP only usually allows single byte, and this would be an integer). I have tried adding this to OpManager but it always fails. I can get some basic snmp info from the device, but 99% of its stuff can't be accessed due the way F5 has implemented snmp. Start-up and firebird problems
I have 2 separate problems. First, and this has been true since the previous version of NetOps, after running for some time, the FireBird server unexpectedly crashes. I am now running the latest NetOps and have applied the latest patch, and I'm running this on a Windows XP machine that is patched as well. Second, after one of these FireBird crashes occurred, my NetOps now takes up to 10 minutes to load. Once it is up it runs fine, but it takes so long I originally thought it was frozen. The point

As a consultant, I'm considering OpManager for a company with 300 intel servers, 1,000 WAN links, 3 EMC, MS SQL servers, Citrix servers, Cisco routers, Cisco and 3Com switches. Does it scale to such environment? Or should I look for solutions from HP, IBM, CA etc?
Network Discovery Question (Opmgr MSP)
I added network 10.128.128.0/20 to be auto-discovered. It did discover the network devices just fine. However, it also added many unmanaged /24 subnets that fall with the larger /20 network range that was specified (see below). Is this normal behavior? I'm not sure why I would need the smaller network? Can I delete them or should I just ignore? 10.128.128.0 255.255.240.0 managed <-- this is the /20 I added 10.128.134.0 255.255.255.0 unmanaged <-- OpManager added all the /24's 10.128.135.0 255.255.255.0
BUG: Business views
Since the new release my Business views that have shortcut links to other business views do not show the correct info in the balloon over. Example.. I have a map of the state of New York and each of the large cities has a shortcut circle to that city. WHen you mouse over the city it does not get you the info for the shortcut, instead you get Webclient.map.baloon.viewdetails at the top. I have attached a screenshot.

alert.filters
I have made some new alerts-and they are running fine-modifying my DataManagement.xml to not compile stats so frequently...i also ran accross alerts.filters -which only has the original 'Play Sound" alert in it -does this file not get updated untill a proper shutdown/restart? -i could have sworn i've restarted opmanager since then-however not 'smooth' shutdowns of the service-just box reboots....yet my alerts still work so is the alert data stored elseware now?

Hi I have set up OpManager and set up to notify me when there a system down. I checked my Mail server settings and both of mail address works well when I have it run it as a test. When a system is down I am not getting any email at all or any notification. I am seeing on the OPmanager that it has an alarm but no email. I recreated all the setting twice still same.

OpManager 6010 BAD performance
After installing the new build of OpManager, 6010, my PC has been encountering major CPU and Memory utilization issues. In the Task Manager, I see two instances of Apache.exe and multiple instances of cscript.exe that causes the CPU to shoot up to 100% utililization and the high memory usage. OPManager won't load, stuck at
I used OPManager for about 1 week. Now it doesn't start anymore, i'm stuck at 'Configuration completed...' in the startup screen. Did the service pack for OpManager reset MYSQL access from outside sources? Since the upgrade I cannot access the OpManagerDB from a outside source.
Bandwidth monitor not working
Helllo All, We have a Dell switch (3324 to be exact) and we want to try the bandwidth monitoring. We got connected no problem and selected a few interfaces. All went well but after 20 minutes or so, nothing. OpUtils can "see" it just fine (it sees all the interfaces, port speeds etc) but nothing for inbound/outbound traffic. We know SNMP is working on the swtich as several other tools are accessing the switch via SNMP and can record the traffic without any issue. Thanks, Frank

Hello, We're trying to evaluate OpUtils but we can't get firebird to load/start. We're trying to run on a CentOS 4.4 box and it's complaining about libstdc++.so.5. We have the .6 version installed. Is tehre any workaround for this?
Ports revisited
Sorry for the newbie type question: When setting up the ports for OpManager MSP am I supposed to do the following?: OpManager collector: open a port for the probes to connect back on. OpManager probes: open a port for the local users to to access the OpManager data?
Email Alert: show display name and ip address
When a service goes down and we receive an email, it shows the server's ip address instead of the display name. I believe the "$source" variable is replaced with the IP address. Is there a variable we can insert that will map to the display name of the machine? Maybe "$displayname" instead of source? We don't have every IP addressed memorized so seeing that as the only value doesn't help us that much. Ideally we'd like to see both the IP address and the display name.
