What kind of user did I need to begin monitoring my Active Directory? I mean, role, permissions, etc, that's because if it's only an administrator user, I need to justify to my Active Directory Manager. Where can I find official documentation about the Active Directory Monitor about this prerequisites?
Export Business Maps in Visio
Hi guys, I am in version 8720 and I was trying the new feature Export to Visio. When pressing the button the browser is asking me to open or save a XML file. Well as you may know, with Dell OpenManage Software you can monitor several performance and health statistics such as fans, power supply, temperature.. Hi, Our existing customer created a script to monitor specific keywords on a particular log file. Once the keyword is seen, it will send an email notification. It is possible to incorporate this to OpManager? or it is possible using Syslog monitoring. Please advice, Thanks, Joe
Prevent Errors when Cisco Interface in Shutdown
When our Cisco switchports are not in use, OpManager shows the port in Critical Error when in fact it is shutdown by our Engineers for audit purposes. If a new user or device is provisioned to use the port then it is turned on. Only way to prevent the error from appearing is to not monitor the port. Is there a way for OpManager to auto sense a shutdown port and not monitor? In the least not show the port in error when we shut it down?
Can't change Timeout Settings
Hi, I’m running a trial of OpUtils 5.8 Build 58028 and would like to change the ICMP timeout in Settings but I can’t do it. The only ICMP setting that I can change is Packet Count, all the other settings can’t be changed. Thanks In advance João Paulo

Login OpManager problem
I am having serius problems to login in OpManager. I am receiving errors such: SQLException while preparing the statement with id : 19 Cause : Invalid state, the Connection object is closed. SQL Query : select * from UserPasswordTable none of the usernames/passwords works, not even the admin password. So, we forced shutdown OpManager services by shutdown the server. After that we restored the database and we could access with all usernames/passwords. The version build number in use at that
Missing information of device
In OpManager 8, most of my devices will display the "Response Time", "Packet Loss", "CPU Utilities" and "Memory Utilities". however, over a period of time, those information are not able to display. I had to reboot the server in order to display those information again. Anyone out there have similar problem? Any idea how to fix this?? Any suggestion welcome. OpManager 8 running on Linux box.
New Ideas
While configuring opmanager, and I'm still in that phase, I thought up some features that would be helpful that weren't included. #1. Add ability for event log rules to exclude particular event IDs (or any other attribute for that matter) #2. Event logs need a way to say "only if source was the servername", I couldn't find a way. #3. Allow a script to get a folder name for folder monitors. IIS keeps track of its folder locations in the metabase, which can be queried, but this value can be different
Notification Profile Widget - Add time and date sent
Hello, Running Opmgr 8723. Can you add the date and time that the notification profile was sent in the "Notification Profiles Sent" widget? This will save from having to run a report and having to constantly answer the question: "When was the alert sent?" Thanks!

I want to buy license for OpManager 250 devices. but i dont know mean of "location" in FAOs "Can I buy a single 250 devices OpManager license and monitor in two different locations?" my customer'network has 2 site in 2 different city . in this case, this calls 2 different location? Administration interface stops working
I'm running the latest version of OpManager (fully patched) on a Server 2003 server. When the OpManager service first starts I can access the administration web interface with no problems, but after it's been running for a few hours, I can't view it through a web browser anymore. I've tried backing up the database, doing a fresh installation of the software, and restoring the database, but I get the same problem. Email alerts continue to come in, so I know the server software is still running. I

Currently I can choose to have a specific dashboard for my domain controllers or SQL servers, or I can have them in virtual devices and monitor their VM info. What happens in cases like mine where we have virtual domain controllers and SQL servers and I want to monitor VM info and server specific info using the dashboards?

SQL Server DB tables - custom info
Hi all, Opmanager 8732 with SQL Server DB backend Does anyone know where the Device Notes info is stored? Am assuming in a table in the DB somewhere but can't seem to find it. VM Host monitoring
I have an issue with monitoring VMWare Hosts. VMWare typically requires that all SNMP monitoring run through Virtual Control Center. If monitored on the host themselves there is overhead. (I do not want to add anymore overhead, especially monitoring). Is there a way to monitor VM hosts via the VCC? I have tried with the current MIBs and it fails every time?
Unable to Access Interface Templates
When trying to access the Interface Templates, I receive "Sorry, an error occurred. OpManager was unable to retrieve data from the database. Please try again." error. I have checked the database and all the data appears to be there, so I'm not sure what the issue is. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rob
Opmanager Run Program Does not work
Hello I am trying to run a simple batch file which creates a file with a echo statement when some threshold is breached. When I create and say test actions it says Program executed successfully but nothing actually happens. The script manually works. Monitor SNMP Delta/Change rather than Fixed Threshold
I would like to monitor CRC errors on an interface (Cisco router). I've successfully setup the monitor to alert when the number of errors exceeds a fixed limit. However, since the value cannot be cleared to ZERO on the router the alert continues to notify. I would like to monitor the change in CRC errors from the previous polling. Can this be done?
Change a snapshot dial for a device
Hi, I added a Juniper switch EX4200. I was able to see the CPU and memory on the two dial (I already know how to change the opmanager_snapshot_dial file). The third dial is the backplane utilization that is not populated for Juniper switches. Is it possible to change this dial to show, for example, the temperature? I need to do that only for Juniper switches not for other switch brands. Regards
remove instance in mssql add-on monitoring dashboard
for a few weeks we bought the mssql add-on monitoring. working well except that : when an instance is discovered and added to mssql dashborad. and then we decide to remove the instance on the server itself : how can we remove the instance in the mssql dashboard ???? i mean : the instance doesn't exist anymore on the server, but still displayed in the dashboard ???!!! Cannot add WMI Monitors
Hi, Trying to add a WMI monitor "PhysicalDisk: % Disk Time" can select this but when pushing ok the monitor is not added to the monitor list. I'm using the free version of OpManager. Regards, Ronald
Widget for a network video stream?
Does anyone know how I can add an MPEG4 video stream into a widget so it can be displayed on one of our CCTV views? We have a couple of cameras at our colocation facility that would be cool to have on out screens within OpManager at the NOC. I assume the custom HTML widget is the way to go, but I have no idea what commands to use to capture the stream.
Opmanager Maps Disappeared
I am running the latest version of Opmanager on ESXi and have been for a couple weeks and this morning I came in and nothing shows up in my maps. For instance, on the dashboard I see 0/10 devices in alarms but if I actually click on that category to see the list of individual servers it's empty. All of the categories under maps are empty along with my business view maps. If I click on an individual item from the dash board, say an item off the top memory devices, the device shows up correctly
Using the most memory for OpManager as optimal
We are moving our OpManager install to dedicated hardware from a VM environment and will have 16GB of RAM to work with. Currently, we are only using under 3GB of the 6GB allocated to the VM. When we move we'd like to be able to use as much memory in that system as is optimal for it. I know there are the settings in the wrapper.conf for the min and max heap sizes but without playing around with them I wouldn't really know what to set them to to be optimal. Could someone suggest the best way to utilize

Run Program Notification Not Working

Disk / Partition related CLI Monitors
Hi, If we look at the HostResource.xml file, the disk / partition related monitors (used space, free space, partition details) are displaying the "virtual filesystem / disk" (eg: tempfs). Therefore, every time we add/modify the monitor (eg: partition details), we need to remove the those "virtual filesystem / disk" In order to avoid this, i have added the "grep command" into the HostResource.xml file so that it will only display the actual devices only (start with /dev) Hope OpManager can include
