I configure de SNMP community on my PowerEdge r610 through the OS. Set the community name, IP host trap destinations to my OpManager server.
So we discover the new device with address 10.73.xxx.xxx, subnetmask 255.255.240.0, it works! As you can see in screenshot_1.jpg it shows data, so the SNMP protocol and credentials are working as you can see in screenshot_2.jpg.
This server is a PowerEdge r610. When I try to add default Opmanager's monitors for PowerEdge Servers, the system doesn't recognize that OID (screenshot_3.jpg) even when the device is a Poweredge r610 server!
I went to the MIB browser.. same result.. I can see that the credentials are working fine because when I check this OID:
.iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.system.sysObjectID.0 it shows me "Sent get request to 10.73.x.x : 161
sysObjectID.0:-->.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.311.1.1.3.1.2" please see screenshot_4.jpg. Why does it show me 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.2 instead of DELL vendor OID which is 1.3.6.1.4.1.674 ???
But when I check any OID for DELL vendor MIB which is 10892.mib , my device doesn't respond. Please check screenshot_5.
Although, when I use DELL OpenManage SNMP works just fine. Why? I checked DELL OpenManage configuration, it uses the same Community string as Opmanager.
As you may know, Dell Servers provide you with an iDRAC IP address where you can access OpenManage remotely . I tried to use this iDRAC IP adress but OpManager doesn't even recognize the IP address. This is very confusing because when I configured my HP Proliant Servers I give the OpManager the Insight Lights Out IP address insted of the IP address of the Proliant server and it worked fine when I added more monitors.
Please help me to solve this issue!! If you need to know more details of my configuration please let me know.
