starting a webbrowser with specific url
Hi all, i am using Opmanager for a couple of days now and i kind of like it. But there are two things i can not find out how to do it: 1. when a device or a port goes down i need a notification that opens a webbrowser with a specific url, this triggers a alert program that sends sms, fax or/and e-mail 2. i use cisco equipment, and in the configurations is use the descripe command to descipe the ports with a name, however this is not turning up in Opmanager, what am i doing wrong? Thanks for al the
SNMP Problems (?)
I'm having a bit of a problem with SNMP traps (and I'm a bit new to SNMP in general). My OpManager server IP is 10.101.10.200, I have a "local" router @ 10.101.1.1 and a remote WAN router @ 10.110.1 (and 51 others).. Everything is fine with the local router, and the remote shows up fine (with the * to indicate snmp). The problem I'm having is OpManager ONLY shows traps from the lcoal router, nothing from the remote. I've verified the traps ARE in fact making it to the machine. In the "Devices to
Need help witha question...
what are the two sources which lead application built using a database to be slower than the same application if built using a file system?
Hide business views
I want to be able to hide business views from clients who log on to the webserver. Is this possible?
I can't add another network?
I can only enter 2 networks to the discovery section ... I have tried using the web-client which gives me a page that simply says "Error." I have also trieud using the GUI client which lets me enter the additional networks but does not save them when I click OK. Am I overlooking something simple or is this a limitation with the evaluation version? :?:
Windows Services / *NIX Processes
Are there plans to add the ability to check Windows Services and/or *NIX proccesses? It would be nice to know if a service or proccess that doesn't listen on any ports is up or down. Thanks, Jamie Jensen
Specific Server Graphs - IBM Blades
Hi Again, Was wondering if you had plans on adding IBM servers to the available graphs. I see that Compaq and Dell are currently there. Thanx Again!!!
DiscoveryConfigurator
I have read in the forum that the DiscoveryConfigurator can be used to configure the seed file for discovery. Is it possible to use this tool with OpManager and, if yes, how?
Using SQLServer2000 instead of MySQL
Is it possible to point ManageEngine to our SQL server instead of the MySQL instance that is created when the application is installed?
a added Graph cannot be deleted anymore from the WebClient
Hi There, When i try to delete an self added graph from a device......it says "deleted" but i stays in there.....and cannot be deleted. Is this a bug? or do i miss something? and next....can i set more than one treshold with a different alarm on one single graph? and...can i make some kind of a profile for the same type of "servers" with the same graphs and tresholds? Now i have to redo a lot of things for every server. Greetz, Wouter
OpManager on Mandrake 10
Hi, Has anyone tried to setup OpManager on Mandrake 10 recently ? I have tried and everything is installed properly in my /usr/local/OpManager directory but when I try to run the server, it says : Verifying connection with web server ... Failed to establish connection with web server. Gracefully shutting down OpManager. I checked in the doc, and it says that I should copy the file libdb-3.2.so from the /lib/backup to the /lib directory, so I did, but when I try to run the server, it always gives
Can't start as a Windows Service
OpManager doesn't startup (only) as a Windows service. When I log-on as Administrator and start OpManager by double-clicking the OpManager icon on the desktop, OpManager successfully starts. And also, when I log-on as Administrator and run StartOpManagerServer.bat from the command prompt, OpManager successfully starts. Only when I try to start OpManager as Windows Service, it fails to start. The file"stderr.txt" says that OpManager cannot bind to 0.0.0.0:7780. But I'm sure that ports which OpManager
OpManager & windows 2003
Recently I evaluated OpManager 5, server device with windows 2000 work perfectly, but for a device with windows 2003 the graph didn't work at all ( CPU. Memory, HDD Space ). Is there something wrong ?
Cisco 6500 CPU utilization not displayed in snapshot
I have not been able to display the CPU utilization of a 6500 switch using the snapshot feature. I have loaded the latest cisco MIBs and can mibwalk to the output but would like to associate the snapshot CPU view with this new OID. Is there a way to make a new association as opposed to making a new graph ? Is there any other way of displaying a 6500 running CatOS CPU utilization on snapshot ? Thanks in advance.
Getting OPManager to accept new MIB's
Hello, We are in the final stages of evaluation of the OpManger5 Professional version. Before we purchase I would like to get assistance with one last item that to date we have NOT been successful with and that is loading a MIB that was NOT distributed with the OPManager application.. I have obtained three, VALID, MIB's directly from the manufactures, Cisco, Nortel and APC for thier switched PowerDistrubitionUnits.. I can Not get Opmanager to load them. Nor can we get the MIBBrowser 3.3.1 to load
Some questiones about OpManager5
I just installed OpManager5 for evaluation. I have some questiones about it: 1. Can I add other stuff like UPS into "infrasturatural views' currently containing servers, routers, switches..? 2. Can I add nodes one by one instead of auto discovery from network? 3. If yes, I am assuming they can be done from 'Admin' TAB. But I can not find any 'Admin' tab after starting "StartOpManagerClient.sh" Thanks. Shouwen
SMTP problem
OpManager is showing SMTP service on some servers is down, but I can telnet their port 25 from the host in which OpManager is running. Why? -- Shouwen
Switch Port Mapper
I just downloaded and installed with all service packs OpManager! It's a great piece of software!! I do have a problem however. I can't seem to find the Switch Port Mapper on any of my HP ProCurve switches. All I have is the STP Port Details under Switch Info. Did it not get installed? Or am I over looking something here?? Any help would be appreciated greatly!!! Thanks, James R. Kinateder
Servers with multiple IP addresses
Hi, is there a way you can setup servers or routers as having multiple IP addresses ? Currently, servers with 20 IPs show up as 20 separate, though similar servers. John
Crash Recovery
The system we're evaluating OpManager on crashed (Hardware failure) after restoring the system (replaced MB) Op Manager initially wasn't polling the services. Stopping and starting the OpManager server fixed that up but DownTime seems permanently locked at Unavailable since midnight today. Any suggestions?
OpManager hangs when executing StartOpManagerServer.sh
Hello everyone. Just started playing with the Free version of Opmanager this morning. I am running this on a Fedora Core 2 box. I downloaded the .bin file and proceeded to run through the install. Everything went fine (used the -console flag, as I am ssh'd into the box). Anyway, after the install finished, I then tried executing the StartOpManagerServer.sh file to start it up. However, after I did that, it started up a few things (saw a lot of Created table output) then it just hangs right here:
Layer 3 switches
Is there anyway to monitor Layer 3 switches? in other words switches that also act as routers. It seems I can set it up as either a switch or router but not both. This would be great if it were possible. Phil
Individual Partition / Drive Usage
Is it possible to graph / report the usage of individual partitions or drive letters instead of an aggregate of all partitions. If I have a system partition that is almost full and a data partition that is only 30% full it looks like I have a lot of drive space available. If this is the case a threshold will not be met though my server stops responding due to lack of system partition space being available. Thanks, Jamie Jensen
Cisco Switch gives trouble error -> Ports 5, 10, 11, 12,
Cisco Switch gives trouble error -> Ports 5, 10, 11, 12, 17 are down. Why is this? When a user turn off his computer....i don't wanna see this as an error. Wouter
Memory utilization numbers off by about 30% sometimes
I have a couple of servers where the difference between the amount of physical ram in use on the box and the amount opmanager shows are different. I have a server right now that has been running at 100% ram utilization, yet opmanager shows it as only 70%? The odd thing is that task manager will show 100% ram usage, but the process tab does not add up, i.e. all the ram tracked to a process shown in task manager does not add up to 100%. There is a discrepancy roughly equal to the same amount that opmanager
Quick question abt monitoring a Cobalt Server
Hi, I just started looking at OpManager and really like what I see. I have one question and I see some threads that are similar, but don't directly answer what I am seeing. I have a Cobalt RAQ4 which is not really doing much of anything yet on my network. Therefore, memory utilization on this box is always around 6-7%. On my OpManager console, it shows up at 93-94%. So it looks like to me like the OpManager is interpreting the SNMP Mib wrong (inversely) or the mib on Cobalt needs to be adjusted.
Device Not Showing Up in Map after Discovery
In both the console client and Web client, when I add a device it says it successfully discovered the device, but it never shows up in any of the maps. I retried adding the same device and it says it successfully discovered the device, but again the device does not show up in any of the maps. Any idea what is wrong? I am using OpManager 5 with SP2 (build 5006). The device is successfully responding to SNMP queries. Thanks
Cannot detect Cisco 4050 switch & PIX Firewall
Sir, When I add the IP address for the Cisco 4050 switch & PIX Firewall. OpManager cannot detect the correct model. Also cannot view the CPU & Memory usage graph. How can I fix it? Samuel.
possible additions or changes
I've just got a couple of things that I'd like to see added to future releases if possible - or if you can let me know if they are possible now. * Option to sort the icons or details views by IP or Name * Ability to move devices to any map (eg. move to printers) * option for generic email for all alarms rather than just device specific * ability to filter devices by ip's eg. in all find lists, reduce the availbe devices by excluding non-matches to find string, not just go the the first match * Ability
Can you globably set the response time threshold?
I see that a threshold can be set on response time, but I can only set it on each individual device, and only via the client, not the web interface. Is there any way to set a global threshold for response time? If not, this might be a good feature for future versions. (And also have the ability to do this through the web interface.) Thanks
How many devices supports OpManager?
Hello, how many devices can I support with OpManager? Thanks
Monitor Windows NT service
Sir, Is it possible to monitor the Windows NT service? Samuel.
SNMP Monitoring on Linux
Running the free 10-device version is there any limit on the network interfaces monitored on an SNMP capable server? OpManager sees the interfaces but can not determine anything about them. SNMP ver 5.1 on Fedora Core 1. OpManager running on the same box. snmpwalk shows the interfaces and details. Thanks.
ipForwDatagrams graph seems high
I have created a graph to monitor the MIB2 ipForwDatagrams (.1.3.6.1.2.1.4.6) value, but the readings I am getting seem high. It there any additional expressions I need to add to see how many IP packets per second my routers are routing?
No Move to Printer option anymore
All of a sudden I don't have a "Move to printers" option for a printer. It ended up in the server view and I can move it to the printers. Any ideas ?
Print a availability report from all devices (Switches)
Hello, how can I print a availability report from all devices (Switches)? Thanks.
how to setup opmanager to check a server ?
Hi, I've been trying to use the OpManager to monitor my server network but I am not sure how to set it up. Should I install OpManager on the same server? Thanks~
bandwidth metric
The reports show bandwidth utilization in Kbps. Is this correct? I think it may actually be bytes per second, not bits? Bits seems awfully low for the servers I am monitoring. If I map the usage with another tool, Cybergauge, the min and max numbers are no where close to what OpManger shows. Could this be an error in OpManager? Anyway to make this show Mbps by default? KBps or Kbps on a switched LAN is really not the best metric to use.
network events
just a few questions... 1. how do i clear/delete the items on the Alarms -> Network Events ? 2. i was testing out the notification function and set the system to notify me when the server cpu utilization reached a certain level ('threshold rule is violated'). it worked the first time, but have been unsuccessful the next time i tested it out. i have already cleared/deleted the items on All Alarms and Active Alarms but it still doesn't work. it seems that the notification function works only one time...
no memory and disk utilization graphs
I set up opManager 5 into windows XP box and net-smnp into my linux box. I can see only CPU Utilization graphs. Screenshot can be found here and snmpd.conf is here. Whats wrong in my conf?
