Cannot connect to client on RedHat Fedora
I cannot connect to the client on RedHat Fedora 4. I run StartOpManagerClient.sh as root and then attempt to login to the client. I simply get a popup box that says "Check Server Name." No matter what I type into the server name box it does not come back. I have tried localhost, the actual machine name, the ip address, and the loopback address. It never connects. Has anyone else seen this? What am I doing wrong?
alert when a monitored value is other than specified?
Hi, Currently I am monitoring my physical drives status through snmp, because we had some failed drives recently. A drive can have the status: other = 1, ok = 2, failed = 3, predictiveFailure = 4 . It will return a value of 2 when status is ok. If the status changes to 1 or 3 or 4, I would like to receive a notification. But with the current threshold configuration it is not possible is it? Application Response Time 4500ms
Hello, i've had the same problem a year ago: some server applications had 4500ms response time shows the dashboard. When i had the problem a year ago, a false DNS server was the problem. but now, DNS server is ok. i've changed the network card in the opmanager-server. is this a known problem - is there any solution for this problem? with regards, martin
Versions of OpManager?
We are currently trialing this product (using version MSP Edition build 6002) and I have a couple of questions (so far!). The documentation shows a way of configuring SNMP Trap processors under the admin tab but we don't seem to have that option? In much the same way we we don't seem to have an MIB Browser icon under admin either? Any ideas?

Error when attempting to load traps
I am trying to load traps from a file. I receive the following error when I try this: IMPORTS failed: Could not open file C:/Program Files/AdventNet/ME/OpManager/./mibs/NETSCREEN-SMI I am running OpManager on Windows 2003 installed in the default directory of C:/Program Files/AdventNet/ME/OpManager. The MIB is in the directory, but it seems that the extra "/./" in the path is causing this not to be able to load. Has anyone else seen this or have any idea what could be causing this? New DC - Some of the AD queries result in N/A
We have been successfully monitoring DCs with opmanager for about a year. We've just added an 11th DC, and I'm seeing all N/A for the following: -All performance Counters - All network monitors except Number of Clients I've removed and readded the monitors to no avail. Wasn't there a command-line utility that sometimes is needed to run against the DC? I've forgotten what it is. BTW I do have my user enabled for remote WMI and DCOM access on the DC.
Changing network view address to name
Hello Wondering if anyone knows if I can change the network view addresses (bottom left) to something I can refer to and make it more meaningful in my network. eg 168.192.20.0 to Office Network Is this just a change in the hosts or networks files for linux? Thanks Jonathan

treshold rule (lesser than)
Hi all, I am monitoring on of our sql servers through the sql add-on and one of the things to monitor is the MSSQLCacheHitRatio. This ratio should be ideally higher than 85%. Well, I have put our threshold limit on 80% and the Threshold Check when Monitored value is lesser than threshold limit. It will rearm at 81%. Now our monitored value is around 84% and it will generate me an alarm? I'm under the impression that it should generate the alarm ONLY when the value goes below 80%. Am i configuring
VMwared' Fedora Core 6 says Unable to start Mysql daemon
Has anyone had trouble running OpManager on a Fedora Core 6 box? It would keep saying Unable to start Mysql daemon, even though the hosts file does not have any IPv6 lines in it, just the regular localhost line. This was brought up before on an older version of Fedora Core (4 or 5), yet no post of a solution was made public. Anyone know what to do?
How to display simple chinese in SMS alter messages?
Hi I want to send SMS messgae in my SMSserver,but OpManager couldn't send simple chinese correctly. I try to modify smsserver.conf,replace "phone.message_encoding=7bit" with " phone.message_encoding=UCS2", but It counld't send chinese just the same. Have a great day. Cheers, Byron.

Monitoring Oracle
I can run MibBrowser.bat and ALL the Oracle monitors work! When I change the configuration of MibBrowser to use Version 2c snmp it FAILS. I can run snmpwalk and they work too! But...in Opmanager I cannot get ANY oracle monitor to work so I am assuming that Opmanager is using V2c and failing... Is there a way to force version 1 SNMP for a monitor? Thanks -Wayne
Error in MIB-Browser
Since the last update to 6010 i regularly run into an error message displayed in the MIB-browser. I'm querying a device several times, and then suddenly a message window appeas with the following error message: problem iii [object error] After this message the only way to use the mib-browser again is going back to the admin page and restart the mib-browser. Anybody know where this is coming from .. and more importantly ... how to fix this?
DC devices also need interface rediscovery
Just created a new network team on a DC, and realized these devices do not have the interface rediscovery mechanism. I have really enjoyed Opmanager's capability to rediscover interfaces, because re-teaming is something we seem to do frequently (new teaming software, new hardware, etc). Hope you add this feature soon to Domain Controller devices. Thanks!
Infrastructure URL monitor notifications not working
My pre-existing to 6010 URL monitor notifications have been working right along, until today when I modified the specified addressee. After modifying, I would save and close, then open the URL monitor up again to see the old addresses were still listed, my modifications didn't seem to have been applied. I deleted that URL monitor and started over, and then tested to see if they were working by having opmanager search for a non-existing text string. Graphing tcpRetransSegs
Hi, I'm trying to graph tcpRetransSegs (.1.3.6.1.2.1.6.12.0): - I don't want a graph of the absolute value, since this will always increase. - I don't want it expressed in terms of retransmits-per-second (I think this is what I get when I say .1.3.6.1.2.1.6.12.0/$DELTA_TIME) What I want is to know "the absolute number of tcpRetransSegs in between the current poll and the last one". Monitoring a running applications CPU and/or Memory Util
I will search & re-read the user guide too, but am looking for a fast answer. I am monitoring a service, but rather than monitor response time, I need to monitor the CPU utilization for the application/process that sits behind that service. When it hits 50% or higher usage or a memory utilization threshold I need to send an alert and restart the service. How can I set this up? I've been digging through the OpManager settings, but perhaps I'm not focusing in the right area? Thanks!

Shutdown OpManager via ssh connection
How do you shutdown OpManager server if you are ssh into the server? If you run the ./ShutDownOpManager.sh, a graphics box prompts for username and password. My ssh connection fails because the graphics box cannot be generated. Is there a username and password parameter that can be passed to ./ShutDownOpManager.sh to shutdown down the server?

Any body know how to monitor traps from Brightstor Arcserver Backup r11.5, I add an SNMP alert in Brightstor. Port descriptions on cisco switches
Hi, Is there any way to get the description field for the port in opmanager to actually display the name given on the switch ( we set this to the actual outlet name so we can map outlet to port ). At the moment they are just coming up 'fastethernet 0/1' etc.. thanks.

How to monitor Cisco Pix failover with dedicatet LANFailover
I have the following problem... ..in Opmanger i can monitor two of four interfaces (inside,outside) on my primary Pix. The standby Pix has the same Interfaces (four) and i can monitor the inside and outside Interfaces. But now is coming the problem. Why can i not see the third Interface that is dedicated for Lan-Failover and the fourth Interface is administrative shutdown. Cisco mib and the right way to compile
Dear Support-Team, i am a newbie in SNMP but i read a lot of Cisco guides and now i have an running OpManager=>Cisco Pix and Router Monitoring-Environment. But the problem i have is that the traps from my devices are showing in OID form. I already did an upload from the Mib-Browser with all required Cisco-Mibs in the right compiling dependency. But is the upload equal to compiling? Must i do more steps for compiling and how can i get more text instead of OIDs in my traps I get to many OIDs from my

Hi there, In the MSP version of OPManager is there a way to do SMS alerting via a web based provider ?. For example, www.bulksms.co.uk allow http submissionthat results in an SMS message. See: http://www.bulksms.co.uk/docs/eapi/submission/send_sms/ We use a small product called IPcheck from Paessler which supports this functionality, is it supported under OpManager ?. Cisco 3750 configuration
I have installed OpManager trial to see if it will fit our needs. I have discovered devices on the network and a lot of them seem ok, but my 3750 does not show any port information as other switches do. I have set a smtp public RO, is there anything else that I need to do? The 3750 is in a stack of two, is this a problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Sebastian
SNMP Question
I am new to this program and I have two ewbie questions. I have set up about 6 servers in Opmanage, they all have the same community string, but one server will not show the dials or pull SNMP data. I also have a server that is pulling SNMP data but i do not get a sys descr. but when i test the Monitors they are working. please help any advice would be helpful
Scheduled report question
I have a scheduled the All Server Disk Usage report to run every night at 2AM and have it sent to my inbox. I would like the report to be sorted by server name as it is when the report is ran from the reports tab. When it is scheduled, the report has no sort order and it makes it troublesome lookup the disk usage on a particular system. What will need to be done to have the scheduled report sort by server name?

Hi there, I have bought and installed the latest version of OpsManager and we are experiencing problems with SNMP + the resource monitors. Basically, I am using net-snmp on linux hosts and opsmanager sometimes shows a dial for cpu/memory/disk usage and others times it doesn't. This happens completely randomly and makes fault finding rather difficult. One host might have all the dials working while another only has one dial working. Hi all, I am trying OpManager, and having a problem with the Alarms and Notification: I had set up Notifications for all my alarms, and i have one alarm from a Cisco Catalyst 4500 about some Ports that are down, they are "operationally down", how can i make OpManager ignore this error? I have tryed to unmanage that ports, doesn't solve the problem! Preferely i just want to say: "ok, i know, if something else change notify me!", becouse those ports may be used in th future and i do not like the idea

Server Availability Report:: 7 servers shown as Down
Hello there My Opmanager is ok , except that on the Report section--> All server availability report, among the 40 servers I have, 7 servers are shown with 0 percent uptime for today. i tried for the "past one week report", result is the same. but on the "last one month" report these servers are shown as 60 percent uptime. for the last 2 weeks, these servers are shown as down by the report . and yet , physically all these servers are own and working properly with out giving any trouble. OpManager stops collecting data
Hi, I have installed OpManager 6 from scratch. Windows 2000, SQL 2000 OpManager collected data for the 2 or 3 hours then it stopped. Checked nmserrx.txt file and find out and error that the data was truncated. I modified database_params.conf, wrapper.conf and SetEnv.bat in the way Rex told me some time ago as database connection was getting disconnected and to get through this it was necessary to move to MSSQL JDBC Driver instead of jtds driver. Checked new nmserrx.txt file and found a new error:

Is it possible to create a notification profile that will send an alert whenever a monitor is unable to retreive data from a device ? I'm using a Telnet monitor to check available disk space on a Solaris server & I want to get a notification in case the monitor is unable to execute the telnet command (in case login fails or no response from the telnet deamon)
Update status and Alarms
Hi, I am testing opmanager in my network, and having a trouble: I have set the refresh interval of all devices to 1 minute and when a simulate a link down i do not get an alarm until i manually update the status of the device in the "update status" action. What's wrong? Isn't the update automatic? And one more thing: What is the "Last Polled AT" and "Next Poll At" in a device? Hi, I've search all posts about that subject and still have problems. 1st i've the mysql stop at the start and made copy of lib and no more msg of mysql and i startmysql.sh and that is ok. 2nd the Verifying connection with web server ... Failed to establish connection with web server. Gracefully shutting down OpManager. I change the ChangeWebServerPort.sh 8080 9000 and the problem still the same... i change for 8080, 9001, etc etc and still the same problem... i look at the logs and stilll can't
