Installation "Stops"

Custom Category
Is there a way to create a custom category for device type? I have devices that do not fit the default categories and OpManager puts them in the desktop category.
pca_trap.mib - PC Anywhere MIB
Has anyone managed to get the pca_trap.mib working. Whenever i add it to opmanager and upload it works fine but then the mib browser falls over saying error line 444. Its obviously a poorly written MIB but can anyone suggest a debug?
truncated name in server map MSP 6003
Hi, We're using MSP 6003. In Customer View I see the complete name of our servers, for instance: abecol01.cehave.local.chvlbbprobe In most other maps the name is truncated, for instance in the server map in details view i can only see: abecol01.cehav... Although there's enough space for the complete name. Can i customize this in MSP so that we always see the complete name? Thanks in advance Ari van Asseldonk
Reports Customization
2 Problems: 1. we want to make all the reports look the same (the customer reports vs custom reports vs etc) are all formatted differently (different borders, logos, text, etc). How can we go about homogenizing the format? 2. We need to adjust the sizes of the reports so they print out on a standard 8.5"x11" piece of paper! (i.e. PDF version of custom reports is getting cut-off along the right hand margin) Without adjusting print settings and adjusting borders, etc, is there a conf file for adjusting

I attempted to create a custom monitor to monitor our HP Proliant DL380 physical drive status using: iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.compaq.cpqDriveArray.cpqDaComponent.cpqDaPhyDrv.cpqDaPhyDrvTable.cpqDaPhyDrvEntry.cpqDaPhyDrvStatus OID=.1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5.1.1.6 Testing the monitor after creation fails, yet works in the MIB browser. I had a hard drive go bad today and realized that this monitor MUST be in place for our 50+ servers. HELP!! Thanks in advance. BC
Opmanager 6 and Service Desk Plus 6
I have a demo of SD+ version 6 installed on my win2k3 server, and I am attempting to install a demo of OpManager 6 on the same server. I can not get OpManager to run after I complete installation. I have tried using both MSSQL and MYSQL, I have tried changing the apache port numbers multiple times, but I have no idea how to fix it. Anybody out there that can help?
Bandwidth Monitor and Deleting Alert issues
Hello, I am having trouble deleting IP Address monitor Alerts. I had 3k messages and I select IP Adress Manager and press delete all, the screen flashes and they are still there. I got them down to 2500 messages and they still won't delete. Also I am having issues the bandwidth monitor saying NO Data Available. I have Cisco 4003, 4006, 3550's, I choose V1 and I still don't get any data. Other than that, it would be nice to see port dulex (full or half) in the switchport mapper. Thanks!
Interface down alerts only on some ports of a switch?
Is there any way to configure the interface down alert on a port by port basis for a network switch? I would like to continue to manage all the ports for things like traffic, errors, etc but don't really care if the interface goes down. Many of the ports I am talking to are connected to laptops or desktops. If the user turns their machine off for the night, I don't want an alert but I still want to know if they have a lot of errors. Can this be done? Thanks.

Status polling through SNMP only
Hi, I deployed the opsmanager in an network environment where different lan cannot ping each other. Therefore, i was hoping that i can do status polling of devices at other lan segment through snmp. However i am not able to do it at ops manager as there don't seems to have such an function. Care to assist on how i can resolve this problem.?
Installation Problems
having trouble installing the the trail version. On install it asks for port 443 "which is being used by another device" I change the port and the webclient will not open. I am loading on a Windows Server 2003 machine. Is there a "how to" install on a Windows Server 2003 machine and change the ports to work? This to me seems like a very basic install and should be more documentation outlining a solution. Yes, I did a search of the forums and have seen other people with the problem but no answers
Getting device into the right category
Hi, I have a Cisco 871W router that I just can't get discovered as a Router (it keeps coming up as a switch...) I have: - Created a new device type - Edited opmanager_categoryInfo.xml to contain the name of my new device type - Restarted OpManager (6014). When the device is discovered, it comes up as a Switch. I can change the type to "Router", but of course I have to add all the monitors manually. Also, when I click on "Device Type" under "Configure" on the snapshot page, the window that pops up
MS SQL Backend Support
Hello, I am currently trying to move my existing OpManager backend database to a SQL server. Is there a document, web site, or a person that could point me in the right direction. Changing router's IP address - doesn't work?
Hi, I added a router into OpManager using the IP address of a physical interface. Now, I want OpManager to manage the device using a different IP address on the same device. So, I clicked "Device Properties" and changed the IP address to the one I want to use. But, when I ping the device from OpManager, it is using the old IP address instead. I assume that all other traffic (SNMP etc) will be using the old IP address too. I don't want OpManager using the old address for anything at all - how can
discovered network & diagram are gone
Greetings all, I'm in a stage of testing the Opmanager, due to updating in the operating system of Windows of a newly instaled one, i had to reboot my machine which has the Opmanager on it. Unfourtantly after restarting & starting also the Opmanager, i am unable to see the discovered network, Yes i can see IPs but nothing else, even the diagram of a WAN is not there. could there be any solution for this since im in testing phase of this project and i'm really starting to like it.
VPN traffic on a PIX
I have 3 pix 515's, and can monitor traffic on the interfaces. But I would like to be able to have an 'interface' for any VPN traffic, or even by specific sites. Is this possible?
Sorting alarms
When I click on the attentionnumber on the mainpage I get a list of al attentions from that customer. However when I want to sort the list on the Alarm Messages, and click on "Alarm Messages", I get the list sorted. In this list all customers are displayed instead of the one I want. scheduled reports email authorization
Hello, Im having trouble with scheduled reports. The warning emails are being sent but the daily reports are not being sent due to an authorization error. Any ideas why one email works and the other doesnt? Problem with 6014
Hello, I install de 6014 update and after that Opmanager refuses to start. In fact Apache service stop after a while, causing Opmanager to stop too. Any information would be appreciate. To install 6014, i am proceding like this: - Stop the Opmanager service. - Running updatemanager.bat (in a windows 2003 server). The process of update do not return any error.
INTERFACE REDISCOVER PROBLEM

Error when trying to add W2k3 Domain Controllers
I am trying to add 2 new W2k3 domain controllers to OpManager since I have upgraded to 6014. It tells me that it has added the device successfully but it never appears. If I try to re-add it, I get the following message: Entries for the device are either partially added or removed. Click [here...] to remove and readd the device. However, when I click above it still does not add it correctly. I was able to add 5 W2k3 member servers without any problem, it only seems to be Domain Controllers. Thanks
ICMP not available - device listed as unavailable
We are currently evaluating OpManager and it is working well. We do have a few servers that are not reachable via ICMP and so they are listed as down when they are not. SNMP is working and the dial are showing CPU, memory, etc. correcly, but the availability is zero. Is there a way to change the way availability is determined for particular devices? Thanks, Rob.
EMC CX700 Wrong Information
Hello everyone, I've been trying out OpStor for my company for the past few days; we have a couple of CX700 and last Saturday we had to replace a faulty disk in one of the arrays, today while checking OpStor I saw that the disk replacement had affected my weekly uptime by 5% (3h45m). I'm not sure if this is supposed to work like this or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this might influence my manager to purchase the software or not.

Hallo, I just recently started using OpUtils to monitor my network, and im trying to use the email notifications, but i cant seem to make it work, im using this smtp server: smtp.crazymofo.com.mx, but it needs authentication and im using my email address as the "from" mail and my password to connect to the smtp server, but still i cant seem to make it work it says this: "E6002: Unable to send mail.", can anyone help me please i really need to make this work. Features in OpUtils IP Address Manager
Hi, To have a complete IP address manager I would really need to have fields to name my IP subnets and nice to have would be if I could have a vlan field as well for the subnets. In the subnets I need to be able to reserve an address, preferable with a checkbox or a dropline or something other else easy and visible way. Also a comment field is needed for both used, reserved and unused addresses. Is this something that could be added? With those extra feaures I would not need Solarwinds IP manager.
Custom Monitor
Good Day, I am looking at adding two new Custom Monitors. OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.476.1.42.3.4.2.2.3.1.3.1 OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.476.1.42.3.4.1.3.3.1.3.1 I have added them and when I test them they come up failed and with a .0 added to the OID. The OID's are working correctly in Cacti. What could be the problem? Thanks.
Can't get Opmanager to issue SNMP alarms
I configurted Opmanager to listen to a server for any snmp traps coming from it. But I can see the trap being generated from the server but I do not see any alarms or email notifications once the trap is generated from server device. I've configured email profile and attached to the server device. I've loaded MIBS, configured trap processors etc. Can someone help me out here ? Also how do I add a device to watch on Opmanager ? Firewall Ports and availability
What are the specific default ports that should be open for a server for to be monitored by OPManager? Is it possible to also check the availability of a server via SNMP only, meaning we will not be able to ping the server? Thanks
Script to backup database? Shutdown service, backup, start
I have looked around the forum and haven't found a good answer on how to run an automated backup. I know that the backupdb.bat works, but it needs to have the opmanagerserver shutdown. I've tried to schedule the shutdown but it requires user interaction. anybody have a better solution? Thanks, Mark
Empty Customer View in Opmanager Webclient

We are all still waiting patiently for you guys to come out with a fix for the java heap memory issue. Increasing the heap size doesnt fix the issue where servers stop polling . I've had this problem for weeks with opmanager and i hope its fixed soon.
