Monitoring device that has no IP
Please i will need to monitor some devices in my network , though they are not IP based. How do i do this? Example of this is satellite modems . Is it possible to do this? If yes How?. Thanks. Fox
URL Business View - Unable to customize, no option to SAVE

Csutom monitors
I am trying to monitor statistics for from CISCO CE560 ( caching engines ) and Nortel Load balancing switches. I tried adding the MIB but encountered an error. Does the MIB need to be in a specific format or can the mib downloaded from the CISCO site work without any modification. The mib is CISCO-CONTENT-ENGINE.MIB. With custom monitors I am able to monitor counters like totalhttprequests. However this is an ever increasing value and is not a five minute average. Can custom monitors subtract the
Desktop Alarms
I have what I think is a daft question but I'm unsure of how to do it. I have generic alarms installed but I'd like to alter ones for desktops. My office is not open 24 hours and most people switch their desktops off at night. I'd like to stop monitoring desktops between say 18:00 and 07:00 so that I don't come in to a large amount of alarms as they are automatically generating ServiceDesk incidents thus causing me work which I don't need to do (as well as putting my stats out somewhat). unknown wireless connection
Just downloaded your program to try and find out where my computer is connecting to. Low wireless connection to someone else's router. I looked in my system and found two unknown MAC IP addresses...how do I use this program to trace these? It's probably a neighbor who has the same Linksys wireless router I just installed on my system. I would love to locate the source and let them know how they can secure their router better. No big deal really, I can disable it on my end, but it's a mystery to me
Trying to monitor Cisco PIX 501's and get mixed results
I have several remote locations using 501 firewalls. Some of them give me this error when OpManager trys to scan them: Trouble Oct 13,2005 11:21:15 AM AuthenticationFailure : null Please help me to fix. These were working for a while. I had to delete the network they were part of in OpManager and readd it. Since then, they won't show stats. John
Active Directory Account Lockout
Hi Support, I have a customer who are evaluating the product and they currently having a problem of Active Directory account lockout. This doesnt happen to specific ID. The issues is resolved when the stop the OpManager Services and when they restart the OpManager Services another set of users account will get locked. Please advice me on the above. thankx
Cisco 2948G graphic
Hello, Need help with Cisco 2948G switch. the graphic that comes with OpManager shows the ports, but they are not reflecting the correct number. Ports atcive are not reflective of the correct port number. This is the switchs description: Cisco Systems, Inc. Compaq MIBs aren't importing properly
I keep getting this error when trying to load mibs to find out when a harddrive in a raid configuration fails. IMPORTS failed: Could not open file C:/Program Files/AdventNet/ME/OpManager/./mibs/CPQHOST-MIB I'm attaching the mibs I was trying to import. I'm particularly interested in cpqida.mib as this is the mib that has the monitor I'm looking for.
Time out error
While using OpManager the admin user id keeps timing out and sending the screen back to the log on prompt? This is smoetimes happening while I'm working in the screens, other times when I go back to the screen from somewhere else? Thanks
Opmanager port still in use after a scheduled restart
I scheduled restart of my server where opmanager is installed every sunday. The monday, Opmanager doesn't start because the web port is still in use, it seems like when i restart my server, the port being used by opmanager is being locked. To solve this problem, each monday, i have to change the port so i can run opmanager any idea please ???
Custom Graphs
Hello: Is there any documentation for different properties used in Custom Graph that we can use? There as so many different properties like type, timeavg, $delta_time etc in custom graph that is being used in OpManager_GraphInfo.xml. Also, in type parameter there are like node, multiplenode, Interface, etc categories and many times we are not sure what to use when?? Only information we get is from forum posts. We use custom graph a lot and would be really helpful if there is documented info on this,
Can you backup opmanager while running?
Under the documentation, it states You can schedule backup at required interval using a cron job. Does this mean that I can just schedule backupdb.bat /sh to run every night and it will do a full backup?? Thanks, Mark
Can Opmanager store it's data in a relational DB?
Can you configure Opmanager to store it's data in a SQL compliant database. MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Ect.
opmanager hung on windows 2003
Hi, I got a problem of running opmanager 5.6 free edition on windows 2003 server... the process was failed to start after installation, disappeared half way without any error message. I found one thread in this forum to say that I need to run a script to clear database entries, I did that, but still no use. In fact, I am just using the free edition, there is no auto discovery involved. Can anybody please tell me what else could go wrong? Thanks! Jiang

Error exporting to PDF
When I export from any of the availability reports to PDF, I get the header text but no graphs in the generated file. It works properly in other reports. I just recognized that these are the only reports where you are using pictures for the gauge bars. Could you resolve this please?
Exchange Service showing as down
Hi All, I have OpManager (build 5503) monitoring 2 of my exchange 5.5 servers, one of them is always showing that the exchange service is offline. Any suggestions?
bandwidth threshold alert
My apologies if this has been asked before. I am currently evaluating opmanager. Is there a way when monitoring a switch to trap a threshold on a single port to send an alert? For example, port 6 on a switch has a threshold set of 10MB, if it hits 12MB can I set up opmanager to send me a page? How is this setup?
Deleted a network
I have deleted a network hoping to be able to re-add the same network to re-discover all the devices on this network once again. The problem that I�m having is that it will not let me add this network back as it says that it already exists but there are no devices in it any longer. Is there a way to make sure this network is deleted from the database so that I can re-discover it and all the devices as well. The devices are still present if you do an individual search on them so they have not been
Incorrect IP address/Duplicate devices listed
Hello, we have just changed the IP address of one of our switches, and now if I do a search, it shows me a device on either IP - although only the correct IP address is specified in both device properties. It's as if they are the same device. Also, when I click on custom reports and search for a device it shows me only one switch - Switch[wrong.ip.address.] Any ideas - thanks, Adrian.
IP Address error!!!!
When I try to discover my network, and type in my network address for the lan: 192.168.1.1, it brings back this error: "Please enter a valid Network Address " I have tried all different IP addresses and it won't accpet anything I type in. Ranges won't work either. Can someone please help?
Problem on monitoring the PIX Firewall and Netscreen 50
I have some problem on monitoring PIX and Netscreen on Opmanager. While add the device , the Opmanager can't identify what it is. And the SNMP mark now shown even SNMP already started in PIX and Netscreen. Then I select the device type by myself (why no Netscreen 50 to choice ??), and input the password of the device. But it still can't monitor the device status. It is Opmanager setting problem? or PIX and Netscreen SNMP setting problem ?? Thanks all support ~
servers coming up as desktop
Just added my six servers and 2 worked fine and came up under the server list, but then the other 4 came up as desktops, what can i do to get this to configure correctly

Question for MIB & Hardware Monitor
Sir, 1. Some MIB return value is a string not number. Example: SysLocation. I don't think it can use the "Custom Monitors". So...how to retrive and show it on the device snapshot page? 2. We have many server with SCSI RAID system. Like HP and IBM. If one HD fail, the system still up. It will not have an alarm. So...is it possible to monitor this kind of problem by OpManager? Sam.
Feature Enhancement Request - Trap Processor (save) page beh
I'm editing the 55th page of snmp trap processors (out of a total of well over 100 pages, 100 x 10 processors for page=too many to browse back to in a hurry). When I save a change, I'm returned back to the 1st page of trap processors. I would like instead by default to return to the current page I'm working on. An option to returning to the 1st page, could be offered with the presence of perhaps a seperate link or command button. Thank you much :)
Cisco PIX 515E 7.0(1) monitoring
We just purchased OpManager and I added our PIX 515E firewall to the list and get this message: AuthenticationFailure : .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.451 COMFWL243.gfsiinc.com Cisco Cisco PIX Security Appliance Version 7.0(1) Not sure what this means. Cant see pix interfaces
Hi, I have enabled snmp on my pix 515 but I still can�t see its interfaces, memory, or cpu usage, even when I see it under firewalls, what is wrong ?
Unable to send SM alert
I have been unable to send an SMS alert. This is absolutely vital for our usage. If I set up an alert with a valid email address it works just fine, as soon as I change it to eg: "0427374220@sms.link.com.au" it just dissappears completely. To expand: I have enabled mail relay for the machine hosting Opmanger, I can send to the SMS address using BLAT at the command line or competitors product (I am evaluating both) GFI NSM and both work just fine when the address is changed. So there is no problem
Partition Utilization
Is it possible to monitor disk partition usage as a percentage of that partition? I've found that I can monitor partition free space and used space, but not percent used for that partition only. Thanks, TK
Devices not displaying by name - just IP
About ten percent of our devices don't resolve to name, they are just displayed with the IP address. I have deleted, re-added using the FQDN but it still displayed with just the IP address. Also, is there a way to create a custom report to find out how many of the servers are running mssql or another process? Thanks, Mark
CPU Utilization Mod to XLM file
I am trying to monitor the CPU Utilization of a Application Firewall using the private enterprise MIB. I added a new resource monitor section in the opmanager_graphInfo.xml file, stopped and started opmanager. I added the resource monitor to the application firewall but no data. I did a test of the new resource monitor and it appended a .0 to the end of the OID. Why did the application append this suffix. Reducing the size of the active area
Hi, Is there a way to reduce the gab between the status indicator and the name of the device as displayed on the webclient. Can the colour of the text too be changed ? If possible how can these be acheived . Thankx . Fox
