WMI v SNMP - Disk Space Monitoring
Hi All. I am just about to add disk usage/free monitors to all my servers (some 80 of them) and was wondering what monitoring method was best to use, SNMP or WMI? They both work, but which would have the least overhead on the system, both the OpManager server and the remote server. Some of my servers are across slow links, so network traffic needs to be considered too. A feature I think would be great in OpManager is to be able to add Free/Used resource monitors to all physical disks in all servers,
Using NetFlow
I am using my NetFlow and have noticed a tremendous amount of traffic going to a single host. The IP is "205.161.6.57" and the protocol is HTTP. I have tried to connect to this host but can not. Also I can't find out what it is? Can anyone offer any advice on this?
Auto start the OPManager Client on the boot
I�m using the OPManager and I have to say that this is a really good program. My question is : How can i disable the automatic open of the client on the opmanager server ? I wana start the opmanager server only and not the client automaticaly on the server PC.
Timestamp on trap receiver ?
is there some way to see/log the actual timestamp of when an snmp trap was received? my systems just send traps with an hours/minutes/seconds timestamp and i can't adjust that setting. just wondering if the trap receiver was logging whe it received the trap message?
discovery community string
Hi Is there a way to configure each network subnet to be discovered/rediscovered with a different SNMP community string? The way OpManager works now during discovery it tries all predefined cama seperated community strings until one matches. This is causing the devices to generate and send authentication failure traps which is causing annoyance to the security administrators. Thanks Ramzi
cant get client PC's data....
hi, just installed OPManager 6 (the free test version) Network: 2x windows Server 2003, clients on XP pro (all patched up) TCP/IP network. I cant seem to get any info off the clients, they seem to be detected. Ive added the SMNP services to the clients, so OPm detects them ok. But no monitoring works or installed software etc. Also non of them have a blue star next to them (my own one does) Ive added SMNP port 161 to the windows firewall (we have a hardware firewall but thats only to the outside
Re-Discovery process
OpManager scans for new devices during each Re-Discovery process. How do you turn off Re-Discovery or have it check every 30 days rather than 15 days. It would be nice to be able to turn off or more than 15 days of a Re-Discovery. Thanks :?:

Monitoring Windows Disk Space
He guys, ive just installed the latest version of this absolutely fantastic app. I got through monitoring so much more than ive ever been able to before such as exchange data and the great way everything is displayed. My only problem, the Disk space monitor for my windows servers (with WMI) is only monitoring my C: drive, i partition like a crazy man and have up to 4 partitions (disk arrays) that are on servers. So how do i get it to (preferably) monitor all of them or at least specify the disk its
Device Name not showing up on Reports
When I run a report, (any report), the device name is only populated by the ip address not the device name that I have specified for the object. How/where do I correct this problem? Robert
timeout
Hello everyone, I am having a login timeout issue with OP Manager. Evrytime i login to opmanger, it kicks me out after a short tme, such as 3-4 mins, and I have to login again. Sometimes it kicks me out sooner. I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and if there is a fix. Also, does it matter if there is only one account for OP Manager, and if two people are logged in using that account, if one person would kick out the other?? Any help would be appreciated.... I was wondering if anyone can recommend the best monitors and settings to monitor Exchange and SQL servers. I have been trying to monitor them the best way and I don't know how.
What config file stores custom monitor associations in MSP
Where are the device configurations stored? Specifically what I am looking for is where MSP stores the custom monitor associated with a specific device. I know the monitors themselves are stored in the opmanager_graphInfo.xml. But once you apply a monitor to a device where is that info stored? Robert
OpManager lib issues on startup
I'm having issues getting OpManager to start on 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise 4 system. I've narrowed the problem down to the Webserver itself. Using OpManager with UNIX, Oracle on UNIX, and Maestro
Can anyone direct us toward any information available on using OpManager with UNIX, Oracle databases (running on UNIX), and Maestro? OpManager is a fine monitoring tool for Windows applications and we're interested in getting the most out of it as possible, if it can do even more. Thanks, -Ryan

Hello, I am having problems with email alerts. I have configured the mail settings and when I send a test message everything works fine, but when an alert triggers a message my email server rejects it as a relay message. I have configured my email server to accept relay from the OpManager server but still fails. I am using GroupWise 7.0 I tried using another SMTP server (IIS) and also fails. OpManager is installed on Windows 2000 professional sp4. Previously I installed in on Windows XP for testing
MIB Browser in web client:build 6004-BROKEN!!
Whenever I try to load mibs using the web client I keep getting the following error "Exception:Reading/Parsing MIB:java.io.FileNotFoundException: Could not open file F:/Program" using the standalone browser works, please help :cry:
Features available in evaluation copy and free edition
For Web Application Testing The evaluation license is valid only for 15 days from the date of installation after which it moves to the Free Edition Which all are the features available in evaluation license and not in free edition or are the same. If different pl. give me the list of features available in evaluation license copy and free edition.
threshold range
the problem with thresholds is there's no range option: take UPSInputLineVoltage for example you can only have one (yes u could make a different custom monitor) but say you need an alarm when it's less than x or greater than x there's no easy way to do this

Network diagram view
Hi, I've just started to use this great piece of software and I realise there is a network map type of view but I was wondering (maybe I'm missing something here, did a search could not find exactly what I was after). I was after a more detailed network diagram. Like similar to those ones of Nagios as this would allow me to see dependencies easier, rather than having to click into X network everytime. tia.
Can not display disk utilization for linux.
I have installed OpManager 6.0 on Windows. I have Linux PC and want to monitor resourse utilization of PC. Now, OpManager 6.0 is able to display CPU and Memory Utilization. But It still can not display Disk Utilization. Do you have any solution to solve this problem? Thanks for help.

Negative Threshold values
I am monitoring RSSI values on wireless radios. I would like to set a threshold value of -80 and a rearm value of -75 but it will not take negative values. Is there a way or is there a way around this? Or will this be covered in the future update? Thanks, Jeff
Enhancement Request - Downtime Scheduler
What we are doing is daily jobs that are running over the night that take down our SQL and Oracle servers. Cause of monitoring these Ports and/or Windows Services we get each night alerts for that. We found Downtime Scheduler in this case not very usefull because we will not be alerted in case of other errors (lets say for example Event Log errors in this time). So a nice feature for us in this case would be to define the downtime scheduler to certain monitors only, in our case downtime scheduler
Can't add a DC machine into server category?
Hi, I accidentally rediscovered a domain controller machine that I had moved into the Server category (we don't have the AD add-on, and the trial has expired). The server was re-discovered as a DC, so I tried to change the category back to server but it won't work. What happens is that (eventually) the category changes, and you can see it in the list of servers for a few seconds only. If you keep refreshing the Servers view, it will eventually disappear all by itself and go back to the DC category.

Database Maintenance
Hi all, In Database Maintenance that if finds inside of Admin, I have configured 365 days for "Delete events to older than". The problem is that for 2 times this option came back toward 30 days. OpManager Hangs at startup

How to view previous event logs from the Alarm window?
Hi, I noticed that alarm only save the last 9 alarms or less. Is this because I'm only using the freebie version? How do I save the previous alarm from all the event logs so that I go back and review them? Please advice. Thanks Alex

Hi, Our email gateway requires a message classification tag to be inserted in the subject or body of the email to allow the message to be sent outside the organization. Is there any way to modify the subject and/or message body of the default email that is sent with the scheduled reports attached in opmanager? Regards Richard
Extreme Networks
Hello, I am trying to add my mibs for extreme networks. I have a 8810 Black Diamond and some Summit 400 and Summit 200. They gave me 1 file for the 8810 and 1 for the Summit 400 and 200. When I add them in to the mib browser I get errors that it can't find files. Is there something I am missing or are there something wrong with the mibs? Thanks for any help.

if i go to admin-traffic monitors-and change Traffic TX it changes it for all current devices-any future devices i discover revert to the default time of 15min for Traffic Tx, memory, cpu usage, etc.... how do i change the defualts?
IF_Index are being removed?
I'm adding in a Cisco 2600xm frame relay router, when I first add it, it shows up with all 51 Indexes, then I rename its display name and set it to be a router (Instead of a switch) and after a few pulls indexes 17, and 19-35 (18 still shows oddly) go missing. 17-35 are my PVC's (Serial0/0.DLCI) all are UP and active and I can browse to them and monitor them with other SNMP tools. I have a standby 2600(not xm) at the same site with a simular config that I can pull and all Indexes are shown and are

I placed OpManager behind a PIX firewall. I opened the 161 UDP port on the PIX but still cannot monitor the devices unless i allow all IP communications between the DMZs. Any idea on which ports needed to be opened?

Alarm notification vie email
Hello all, I have set OpManager to monitor printers in our company and send an email to the appropriate folks when an error condition occurs. When a device misses a poll a "device not responding" email message is generated as expected, but other alarms (low toner, low paper, paper jam) do not generate emails, although they do show up in the OpManage interface.
