How do I deploy a script to the self-service portal?
I have a single one-line command I want to deploy to the self service portal, so that if users run into a certain problem, they go to the SSP and click Install and it fixes the problem. Its not an executable or deployment package or anything, just a single
Missing installation files with apps deployed from Endpoint Central
I've run across this issue with a few different apps, usually after a Windows version/SP upgrade. Some apps won't launch or can't be uninstalled because the installer files can't be found. The error is: The feature you are trying to use is on a network
Any way to test for Java availability before pushing update?
We're trying to update our multiple Java 7 versions in a single job but the pre-deployment task doesn't seems to be able to handle wildcard or partial software name match like "Java 7 update". Our goal is to update all of our current Java 7 installation (v10 to V72) to the latest version (v75) but we also want to avoid deploying Java 7 on computers that don't already have it. Is there a way to achieve that? We have to do this on both XP and Windows 7 x64 computers.
Move the Install button to the 1st column in the Self-Service Portal
Since the SSP isn't resizable, moving the Install button to the first column would make it much faster to install the applications. Our users sometimes hit the wrong button since the shading is so light on the rows.

Create a configuration which uses only the latest version of the packages
Hello, I was trying to create a configuration which uses only the latest version of the packages (same like the self service portal does), but haven't found such an option. So, if there's a Chrome package created based on a template for example, then
Enable automatic removal of old packages

"Software Uninstall Successfully" hangs
I am evaluating Desktop Central 9 and did couple of regular tasks including software uninstallation. I tried to uninstall "Adobe Reader 7.0.8" from 5 machines and after a long time now status is still showing "Uninstall Initiated Successfully". I re-scanned them and Adobe Reader is still there. Any idea what it might be or what I did wrong?

Software deployment problem
Hi. we are using Desktop Central MSP 91113 in our company We have faced a big problem with our network bandwidth When we set a pre deployment activities for example check for already installed software we have found that the agent first download the package and then check for pre deployment activities. This cause a lot of bandwidth usage for nothing. Another important problem with software deployment is when we have 1 configuration for install software that include more than 1 package we found that
DC Agent Issues with Panasonic Tablets and Dock
We are having consistent issues after deploying the Desktop Central agent to some of our machines. We support public safety officials that use Panasonic FZ-G1 (mk1) ruggedized tablet devices. These users have docks in their vehicles and on their desks. When docking or undocking the tablet they are losing keyboard input. Restarting the machine resolves the issue, but we cannot accept this as a workaround. We have verified that removing the DC agent resolves the issue permanently as well. All
At My Wits End with Desktop Central - Cannot Package and Deploy Software
When Desktop Central works, it's fantastic, but I find that 90% of the time, it just doesn't work and the chat now staff it 100% incapable of actually solving any issues. My main problem is that when I push software (mind you, this software works fine when I manually install the msi on my machine), I either get a vague error message "fatal error" or I get a "succeeded" status and yet, when I go to the target machine, the software isn't installed. I've opened multiple support tickets on this, included
Current iTunes package for Desktop Central Self Server Portal is broken
Last night I created a package using the most current DS template for iTunes (12.6.0.95) (x64). The package was created successfully and was added to the Self Server portal on the desktop successfully. When I went to install on a desktop this morning - I hit an error right away via the Portal stating that a file could not be found. Upon inspecting the package within the Desktop Central - I immediately noticed that whoever created the package script - made reference to a file called iTunes6464Setup.exe

Question about deployment policies

Problem deploying software package (iTunes) to Windows 10 client...
Hi, I am using the latest patch build of DC (91113) to push the currently supported build of iTunes 12.0.1.26 to a newly installed (clean installed, not in-place upgraded) Windows 10 (build 10240). Uninstall Microsoft Project & Visio Silently?

How to disable "New software is Available" notification?
I need to sometimes use "Allow User to interact with the installation/uninstallation Windows setting" when deploying software to computers. Desktop Central Remote Office Syncronization kills WAN

Error in PowerShell Deployment Script
Hi In Software Deployment \ Templates there is a deployment for Microsoft PowerShell for Windows 7 SP1 (x86). The VB script to deploy has a couple of typo's that cause the target to reboot immediately after installation. There are two lines that have "/NORESTAR" . The letter T needs adding to the end for it to work as expected. As a side question, is it possible to detect what PS version is installed? Computer\Software Inventory doesn't list it. Thanks Mark
software deployment question.. copy files with software install
Scenario: We need to install software. The software requires files to be copied to the root of all existing user folder's and to the root of all new users that would login. here is the folder path: C:\Users\<local user name>\Unisys\WebEnabler. I'm asking how to best set up a configuration or set of configurations to accomplish this task. My gut says that I need to add some kind of script to the Post-Deployment Activities in package creation but I'm at a loss on how to configure such a script.
Manage web browser addons and extensions
It would be really nice to have an ability to manage browser extensios.
content caching on distribution servers
Hi Everybody, I would like to clarify how content caching on distribution servers work. We're running desktop central with distribution servers distributed across the WAN. I have deployed a custom software package hosted on the default network share. The default network share is located within SITE A. The package is then distributed to computers via the self-service portal. SITE B has a distribution server. If computers within SITE B install the package, will the local distribution server cache a
Issues Deploying Software using HTTP Path (URL) Method
Normally I always deploy software using a network share with a .bat file but, we have recently moved our Desktop Central Server into the DMZ in order to patch machines outside our internal network. Now I need to rebuild all my packages so that I can push the software using the DCSWHttpRepository rather than my network shares. This has become very frustrating task and I just cannot figure out how to do this and I have tried it 100 different ways. I attached my Package and Config Setting to what I
Using Desktop Central Offline
Can DC be used to deploy manually downloaded patches to machines in the LAN? I have a network that can't and won't touch the internet. Win7/2008r2 machines I have successfully remote installed agents on all machines. If I can't install patches I have manually downloaded from MS Catalog, is there a way to use another machine that can touch the internet with DC, choose the appropriate patches, then transfer the appropriate files to DC on the offline machine and remote install from there? I only need
post deploy scripts and registry keys
Hi, I have a problem with registry keys and Windows 7 64bit. If I, for example, attempts to the Keys [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} \ shell \ Open CCleaner ...] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} \ shell \ Run CCleaner] to delete with a script (Post-Deployment Activities), these keys are not deleted. Under a Win7 32bit it works. When I import the keys on a reg file directly, they are
Can we get included hashes for the software in the software deployment section?
In light of supply chain attacks, the most recent issue of malformed Notepad++ installing malware, i'd like to see the current hash of the paticular software in desktop central to compare that to the hash from the vendor. I know you do your due diligence,
Modify Configuration Re-Deploys already installed software?
When we setup a configuration, say called "Base Software" and we add a whole site to it along with a list of packages it works great to get them all installed. But, if we make a change to that configuration i.e. adding or removing a package desktop central is re-installing every package completely which is very undesirable. Is this by design? Can we not use the configuration as we visioned, "Base Software" that automatically gets applied when a new PC enters the site (the scope of the configuration).
Setting Registry Key in pre-deployment does not work
Hi all, I am currently frustrated: Before a SW installation I need to modify a specific registry key. I cannot create a "Configuration Collection" with Regsitry-Config + "Install SW" because There is no "Install SW" in collections. :( (By the way - why not??) So I tried pre-deployment action: I can only CHECK for a key, but I cannot modify it! :( So I created a batch-script with content: reg.exe add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration" /v UpdateUrl /t REG_SZ /d
