Hi. Include non-managed devices in the inventory I use Desktop Central to manage configuration and inventory for my Windows stuff. I like the fact that i can get reports of servers with Maintenance due to expire. However this only really corresponds to my Microsoft inventory. It would be nice if I could add a VMWare host or non-managed device in here so that I could have all of my inventory information in one place. If I entered a Dell service tag for a VMWare host, it would track the maintenance
Add PC with no network connection for a complete overview of all PC's in our LAN
All, Is there a way to add a PC to the SOM that has no network connection? Can I install a Desktop Central agent on this PC and export the data into a file on the PC of USB disk and then Import it into the SOM? Thx
Desktop central - alert for hardware change
Hi, I m testing Desktop central and found something that is a problem for me, Problem with this alarm is that when somebody for example turn off/on monitor with usb/card hub inside monitor I got 5-6 mails of alert that new hardware is found. I like this alert and I would like to use it for memory/HD/graph. cards change (big changes) but like this I cant enable it because its spam my mailbox. do you have plans for fixing ? thnx, P.S. Non-stop messages when install/ uninstall of commercial software
Hello, We configured Desktop Central (Components Versions [Build No: 90046]) to send out notifications when Commercial software applications are installed or uninstalled from computers. Desktop Central Custom Fields for SOM/Desktop Management
Hello, Looking to see if anyone knows of a way to add a custom field into the SOM or Remote Control area. I'd love to be able to have a field where I could put notes on a PC or just a name of the person that is at that PC. It would make it much easier to find PCs. I manage a location with over 125 PCs but it is not a domain and all of the PCs log in generically. I name the PCs by Serial number as many of the PCs are sales personnel which can change often. Warranty Soon to Expire - Add 6 months and 1 year timeframes
For the "Warranty Soon to Expire" report, could you add 6 months and 1 year timeframes? The longest timeframe currently available is 2 months. We need to budget for machine replacement 6 months to a year in advance. I currently use "Warranty Expires Within --All--", but additional timeframe filters would be helpful.
Inventory\Software not updating...
I just realized recently that my Inventory\Software list is not updating properly. I have several clients that are registering older software even though they are running the latest version. Is there a way to correct this? Is this a DB issue? Should I try reinstalling the clients on those PCs?

Mac Agent installation
Hi, I am having issues with the DC mac agent. I have configured and downloaded the mac agent from the SoM. I can install it onto a MacBook air and it says it is successful, however it never shows up within the inventory. Has anyone got any ideas of why this would happen? Logs can be provided if needed. Inventory for a DLL
I have a piece of software that is implemented as a DLL. It is called out of another product and I am looking to inventory this DLL in order to know what versions each machine is running and use this information to target machines for updates. Is there a way to configure Software Inventory to pick up a DLL file? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Deleted objects in Active Directory and DC
Hi, I need some clarification on what happens in DC when an object such as a computer is deleted from Active Directory. There doesn't appear to be a function, as in SDP, where we can mark a PC as being decommissioned so I am assuming the computer will need to be deleted from the SOM. Does the computer remain in DC after deleting from Active Directory? If so is there a report of some sort I can pull showing the machines which are no longer in Active Directory but in DC?

Inventory Scans Failed
Hi, I have been trying to scan the inventory for my PC and a few other laptops where a DC Agent in installed. However, it is always failing. My firewalls are disabled and I have done all the things mentioned in the troubleshooting tips. Any other reason that the scans keep failing? I have already managed to conduct a patch scan for all the devices that is managed by DC. Please help! Thank you.
Software-Inventory reports NO installation date for some applications
I need to know the installation date for applications I deploy using desktop central, because I have to make statistics showing how long (how many days) it takes to deploy a patch to all client machines. For Java and for Adobe reader, software inventory shows me an installation date - fine. BUT for Adobe Flash Player (both FF plugin and IE activex) and for Mozilla Firefox, DC's software inventory only shows me "--". And this is not a windows bug, because Windows "programs and features" control panel

Hi We currently use DesktopCentral for patching and misc support tasks, but I would really like to start using it for inventory management. Unfortunately this is really difficult without some easy way of being able to pull up a devices information. Could you tell me if DesktopCentral has any support for Barcodes or QR codes? Printers - Servicedesk Plus and Desktop Central
Hi I have both SDP and Desktop Central running (both latest versions) however I am a little unsure of how to import the network printers into SDP, not the process but which system to use. The method I used previously was to do a network scan on each IP range using SDP however I am a bit concerned that Desktop Central will also import printers into the system and in some way duplicate the devices. Does anyone have some advice on this please. Gary
Inventory Scan not working after patch
Hi, Previously I use Desktop Central build 80358. My inventory scan works but my patch scan works. So now i patch it to build 90002 and now my patch scan works but inventory scan doesnt. I've been trying to contact Desktop Central support through email but it really disappoint me. Case number i've logged is 14407294, 14406685, 14405588 and no one replied yet.

Software-Inventory shows WRONG installation date for Java installation
DC tells me that "Java 7 Update 55" has been installed on two computers in January 2014 which is impossible because this Java patch is available since Apr 16 2014. I get this wrong information in my custom report that shows me the Java installations of all computers together with their installation date. Desktop Central - Inventory Page - "Summary generation in progress ..." is stuck until I restart the DC Service.
When I click on "Generate Summary", it gets stuck at "Summary generation in progress" until I restart the DC Service. This can happen for days until I manually restart the service.
Desktop Central agent updating ServiceDesk Plus
I am running both Desktop Central and Servicedesk Plus and would like some clarification regarding the agents for both system. I have integrated the two system. 1. Do the assets require both system agents to be installed or does Desktop Central take priority? 2. Archive computer inventory?
I go through a multi-stage process with workstations that get decomissioned. First they are pulled from the network, and then eventually they are sold or discarded in some other fashion. Is there a way to exclude those machines from all scans in desktop central but maintain the computer in desktop central so I have its history until I'm ready to physically get rid of the machine?
Dynamic groups that span over multiple remote offices
It would be nice to have an ability to create dynamic groups that can cover multiple domains/remote offices: let's say all Windows XP systems in all Remote Offices. In current version of Desktop Central it's only possible to create dynamic group within a Remote Office.

Some Lenovo models fail when looking up warranty details
I get the error "Warranty Details cannot be fetched because the given details are wrong" when looking up Model 7269D2U, SN MJ20509. The direct web link in DC does work: http://support.lenovo.com/templatedata/Web%20Content/JSP/warrantyLookup.jsp?sysSerial=MJ20509&sysMachType=7269 Other Lenovo models do return correctly inside of DC and this is the only one I've found that does not.
HP warranty lookup not working on 80279
I've found that after updating to version 80279, the HP warranty lookup is still not working (despite being in the release notes). This is because the agent is not gathering the HP part number, only the service tag. Both are needed to query the warranty. If I manually enter the part number, it works fine after refreshing the page. I have rescanned HP computers with the current agent version and this data is not being picked up. Bulk IP Scope SQL Query
How would I be able to execute a query to bulk-import a list of IP scopes into Desktop Central? I have imported my remote offices, but no functionality exists for doing the same with IP Scopes. I have a CSV that contains my desired IP scope and the remote office name. Can a query be produced to import this, or is there an interface through which I could dump it into DC8's database? Stagger Inventory Scan
Is there a way to stagger the inventory scan so that it occurs at different intervals on different OUs or groups? This would be beneficial to us because some of our machines are virtual and sharing processing power.

Blank ip address column
We are facing a problem that in some of the PC's the ip address is not appearing in the column. The scanning is completed successfuly and I can view the ip address if I go to the summary. How ever in the remote control page IP is not appearing? What wil be the reason?
Warranty Scan process questions and suggestion for future release.
Does the warranty scanning take place during the inventory scanning? If so, may I suggest that this be a seperate user scheduable task? From what I've seen, typically the most important information for warranty scan is gathered at the time that the agent is installed on the computer (it grabs the serial and model number of the computer). Typically this does not change. In my mind, the warranty scan tasks should be something that is scheduled for off prime hours, and only communicates back and forth
Deleting desktops from inventory should be easier
I have a Configuration that's sitting at "in progress" because of one desktop that no longer exists in AD. When I look up that desktop name in the search box, there is a check box next to it but there aren't any commands for it. And I do not see any button to delete the desktop. MDM Information to populate assets and SDP
