I have new computers/hardware that arrive on pallets and I would like to use a scanner device or manually enter the computers/hardware for inventory. These computers/hardware have not been imaged/deployed to any user yet, so they are still in the boxes. Does Desktop Central have the ability to scan a barcode or add computers/hardware manually without removing them from the box to place into inventory?
CU Patching Issue
I feel Desktop Central is deprecating superseded patches too quickly. I have two machines failing to install 2019-08 CU for Windows Server 2016. 2019-07 CU was approved tested and partially deployed in my environment when it got disabled by the Patch DB Update Wednesday after Patch Tuesday. I had opened a case about this awhile back that Patches that superseded other patches shouldn't disable the prior patch till the new one is approved. SHA-2 Code Signing Update Prerequisite
Hi everyone I have spent the last few hours reading through the release notes for the latest Windows Updates. What caught my attention is e.g. https://support.microsoft.com/en-za/help/4516033/windows-7-update-kb4516033 where it says that the SHA-2 update (KB4474419) and the SSU must be installed before any other updates are installed. Does Desktop Central / ManageEngine pay attention to these details? I don't get the impression to be honest as all other September updates are available for installation
Prevent MDM Profile from being removed
We are configuring this for the first time. I saw a previous post that stated this could be done through an option in the Policies, but what was written in the post is not there to select. We are trying to prevent a mobile user from being able to 'unmanage' a device. The 'MDM Profile' from ZohoCorp goes on the device when it is enrolled and the 'App Catalog' application gets installed. Desktop Central has stopped working, I have looked at server Event Veiwer and found an error - Source Service Control Manager Event ID - 7024. I have gone in to services and started the ManageEngine Desktop Service Server, but in the system tray ManageEngine Desktop Central 9 is status is showing stopped right click and start only produces another event as show above. DC patching not honoring "Deploy after X days from release
We use an automated patching policy whereby a subset of our computers are members of a patch management test group ("PMTG"). That group is not supposed to get those patches until they've been released for seven days. My computer is a member of that group and DC patched it 16.0.13001.20384 this morning when it was only released yesterday (see link below). Is anyone else experience the same? How do I change the FQDN of the Desktop Central Server?
I just migrated my Desktop Central Server over to a new server that I will will be moving over to our DMZ. Game plan is to end up patching machines that are not on our network using a Public IP. Remote Control - Issues/Agent Connectivity
Hi We have Desktop Central 9 setup and we have our primary server IP as the LAN Address and the secondary as the external IP. We find that when we go to carry out remote control sessions, the users computer is showing as online, but when we try to connect the agent immediately shows as offline. Many of our users are remote and off our domain so i need to ensure that remote control is working (where possible as we cannot control 3rd party firewalls) The agent then comes back online after a few minutes.

Why are all my agent system tray icons grayed out
All my agent icons are grayed out. I right clicked on a grayed out agent and ran the troubleshooter, and it says everything is fine. When I try to remote control an agent, I get an error saying "Unable to establish connection with agent". I can run a scan of the workstations and the scan succeeds, so I know the server is talking to the workstation. I checked and port 8443 is open on the server, but not on the workstations. Does it need to be open on the workstations too? Any idea why

one of my servers disconnected from the central server and didn't get any updates, when I tried to install the agent again it asked to uninstall old agent and install it again. The problem is that I can't uninstall the agent from add/remove programs and can't uninstall it from the Desktop Central Server. what's the procedure to remove the agent? oalamani

I have unchecked the all the options from the agent that would show a popup balloon.... but durring logon you get a single balloon that lets you know that DC agent has started.... is there a way to stop that balloon... I have alerts set up for hardware added/removed as well as software installed. I am getting an alert for all workstations whenever they are restarted. For example, when a PC is shut down, I get a Hardware Removed alert showing a Mapped Logical Disk : is removed from workstation for every mapped drive on my PC.
