Automatic Inventory of Cisco Device serial numbers
Is it possible to automatically read the serial numbers of a Cisco(c) device and put it into some additional fields for inventory purposes. We used NeDi before. NeDi read the informations via SNMP an saved the serial numbers of every device in the database. In Example:Catalyst 6506-E - Chassis Serial - Modul Serial - SFP Serial a.s.o. It would also be cool if it could be realized, which serial number belongs to which chassis in VSS (Virtual Switching System). Today we only get the chassis serial.

SDP Asset Management - Cisco Equipment Configuration Management
Does SDP provide such feature that I can use network scan to discover all the cisco router/switch via SNMP and also retrive the IOS version, configuration files into the asset record? And also provide the configuration comparison feature? If not, is it possible to integrate the DeviceExpert with SDP? Thanks.
Changing snmp precision
We recently purchased some Inrow cooling solutions from APC. Since there was no device template in OpManager i created a new one after downloading the MIBs from APC. When I setup some bulk monitors i noticed that the values output as a 1/10 of a kW or 1/10 deg Cel. This makes the monitor confusing, is there any way to do simple maths on the returned value such as snmp value / 10 to get the actual kW ? thanks Chris
Work around for issue with adding SNMPv3 devices in OpManager.
Currently Running: CentOS 5.6 (Linux) OpManager 8.8 (8811) RAM: 2 GB Sometimes when adding a new SNMPv3 device in OpManager you will notice that it seems to take a very long time to added it, but when you search for the newly added device you will be unable to locate it. The reason is because for some reason in the mysql database the EngineID will report as nothing. The only way I have found to successfully correct this issue issue is to edit OpManager’s MySQL database and restart the service.

OpManager, OpStor, AppManager installed on same server
Hi sorry if this is a duplicate post, i posted this same question earlier as a guest, and lost visibility of the post, this time logged in as a guest. I have OpManager, OpStor, AppManager installed on the same server, web service running on different ports 80,81,82, so far working well. Is this a supported configuration? Problem i have is with SNMP traps, only one server/application can listen on a given IP/interface. Is it possible to configure OpManager, OpStor, AppManager to run SNMP/WEB
remove bad snmp data
i have an snmp monitor that typically reports 0-40 units. when the device rebooted in reported a HUGE number that is throwing off the historical to graphs considerably. i would like to remove that large number so opmanager has accurate historical reporting. screen shot is below to help illustrate the issue. thank you for your time.
APC PDU Outlet Status
the following entry in the POWERNET MIB: .1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.12.3.5.1.1.4 shows the status of all 24 outlets on the PDU i can use the instance (e.g .1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.12.3.5.1.1.4.1) to get the status for outlet one which is either OutletStatusOn(1) or OutletStatusOff(2) my question is this: i want to monitor all 24 outlets on this PDU for a change. For Example if outlet 2 is currently off then gets turned on i would like an alert to that effect as well as the reverse if it is on then goes off

Monitoring a specific port without SNMP or CLI credencials
Hi there, We need to monitor a device TCP port 1521 (Oracle), but we don't have any credencials for this device. It is on our customer network, which we have access through our radio link (peer-to-peer) and we need to monitor if this TCP/1521 port is up or down. Is there any way to do this, like a "telnet" monitoring? telnet x.x.x.x 1521 Thanks in advance. Regards, Gabriel Guimarães
Net-SNMP doesn't work well (RHEL5 Monitoring)

OpManager and ESX 4.0 monitoring
I'm about to configure my ESX 4.0 hosts to enable SNMP so that OpManager can discover them. However I'm concerned that by altering the ESX Hosts SNMP settings manually I might break the vSphere logging done by vCentre Server. Can anyone tell me that vCentre / vSphere will not be affected. Regards, Mark.
snmp trap mib browser
At the moment it is not working well browsing through mibs when searching for snmp traps to be added. It would be nice if the sorting and search options would be extended. Like sorting on alfabet, a choice to display 5, 10, 20 or 50 mibs on a screen. Can this be picked up ?
unsollicited traps
Hi, I discovered the "unsollicited traps" window where traps, not recognized by a rule, are placed in. Now i've added some trap processors and it would be nice to have some function to re-process the unsollicited traps so they get processed after all. Is this possible ? Regards, Sebastian
HWg-STE SNMP Temp Sensor - MIB
Hi, I have problems implementing our new SNMP Temp sensor in Opmanager. 1. The MIB I got from the manufacturer doesn't get accepted by Opmanager. I used an other SNMP browser which accepted the MIB file. I attached a screenshot from the 3rd party SNMP browser (snap.png) and the MIB to the topic. 2. I tried to add a new sensor to the Template using .1.3.6.1.4.1 (RFC-1213) which seems to be compatible with the sensor. Regarding the Opmanager SNMP browser I need .1.3.6.1.4.1.21796.4.1.3.1.4.1 which
How to Set Up SNMP on a Windows 2003 Server for DHCP Scope Monitoring
Can anybody provide insight as to how to get this working? I have the SNMP service started and the oputils server is listed in the security tab with the appropriate read only community name. When I try to add the DHCP server in oputils, I get this error: "E2001: No response to SNMP queries" Does the SNMP trap service ont he windows server need to be configure as well? Any documentation or advice you can provide will be helpful. Thank you in advance.
SNMP Disk Utilization Report Inaccurate
Disk Utilization in AppManager using SNMP appears to be inaccurate. We run several SNMP monitors on Linux hosts and generally the results displayed by AppManager in the webui graphs are off by about 5-10%. We try to keep these disks rather slim in size which means that the margin of error here is far too great to consider reliable for our needs. Even checking by hand with snmpwalk returns different results. How is AppManager checking disk space? Is there a way to change things so it reports back

BlacBerry SNMP Monitoring
Hi, I added the BlackBerryServer.mib to the MIB Browser, and I added the dispConfigLicenceRemaining object to a device template and a monitor. In the MIB Browser, the object will report the correct value if I point it at the server and click Get Next, but if I click Get, I just get this error: Request failed or timed out. Response PDU received from [IP Address] Error Indication in response: There is no such variable name in this mib. Errindex: 1. However, in the device monitor, it says the monitor
How do you use Device Templates for servers?
For servers, specifically Windows servers, that you are monitoring for both Windows WMI items and hardware SNMP readings what kind of device template do you use? I want to monitor a Dell PowerEdge server running Windows 2003. I started to setup a Dell server template with Dell SNMP monitors, temperature readings, raid status, voltage reading, etc, but when I apply it to the server I lose all of the Windows readings, disk space, memory usage, etc., and the server does not have the Windows icon on
