Discovering Cisco AS5350 as Cisco 2500
Hi, OpManager discovers AS5350 as Cisco 2500. Is there a way to define Cisco AS5350 and discover it as AS5350 ? How can I delete async interfaces? AS5350 has over 60 async ports to generate trouble alarm for each modem disconnection. Thanks, Yigit
Email Set up
Having Issues setting up notify. I created a new email account called Helpdesk@theChilli.co.uk and set up accordingly. The info required to do this seem clear and simple and I'm sure it's correct. However when I send an email to the tech for example it fails? The only thing i can think of is that this email provider require securety on smtp. I normally have to put auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk to get my local email to work and then check the secure box. Would this cause a problem with SD + set up? thanks
session expire/refresh problem
this is an old problem before 5.5 did not got fixed in 5.6 The problem is OpManger can not be used as an alarm monitor. It could expire without notice. Changing it to never expire will not work since that will change its ability to refresh frequently to catch new alarms. Can we have a quick fix for this behavior? Thanks, Min

Currently your product expect port identifiers to be in the format: 80/tcp or 80/udp Netscreen firewalls send the ports in this format: tcp/port:80 or udp/port:80 It would be nice if this was user definable so that we could have a configuration page to specify the format of of the tcp and udp port identifiers. Something like: UDP Identifier Format: [udp/port:#] TCP Identifier Format: [tcp/port:#] Then on the protocol page we could simply put it in as port 80 and check TCP and/or UDP boxes or use
Incorrect format specified
Syslog traffic is flowing, but in the top right hand corner all I get is error messages saying that the data is in the incorrect format. I am sending data from a Netscreen-25 firewall/vpn device. The main page says "no firewall is configured to send data" (which is incorrect). And in the devices all it says is data received from "unsupported devices" Can you please help? I have logged a technical support ticket "but everyone was busy on other calls".

Problem with WebserverPort
Hello, I have a problem with the WebserverPort since i have upgraded OpManager to version 5.6. You can find the error message in the attachment. I have changed the port over 5 times but the result is always the same. The webserver works circa 2 hours and then the failure occurs. Only a restart of the server eliminate the problem. Interface details on Solaris
Has anyone had any trouble getting the interface details on Solaris 8? Whenever I try to add a monitor for the interface, it appears to crash the snmp agent on the host machine.

Hello, How does OpManager handles sys description (showing OS version) etc. update. I tried update status from device snapshot and also rediscover now option but it isnt showing new new OS that we applied on NetApp Data OnTap Release. It still show old version on device snapshot. PO Numbering Request for Future Version
I understand that the PO system must start at 1 for this version, but we use our initials, the date and time for PO numbers and would like to have Service Desk automatically generate these for us; i.e. xxx08232005130547 Will we be able to specify the format for the PO in future releases?

MySQL Permissions
What is the minimum set of permissions needed by Applications Manager to retrieve stats from MySQL? I noticed in the documentation it says to GRANT ALL ON *.* but this worries me. I don't want to give write access to anything that doesn't need it.
small new request link
I feel the button/link on the requesters homepage is way to small. there should be something a little easier for the user to use. (and see) we have people not useing the product, because they didn't see the new request link (;-)
Top URLs blank , Top Users
Good program. Needs some tweaking. Problem I am having is the Top URLs graph is blank. I have been running the program for about 18 hours and still nothing. Same situation with Top Users. Just one big bar graph saying users. No specific users. Please advise.
IT Consultant - right software?
I am an IT consultant and I have to admit that this software is the closest I've come to finding a suitable solution...without spending thousands! However, is there a way to setup users for different companies that will have separate support contracts? In the user setup, it appears that the software is designed for a singe location. Is there anyone that is using the software somewhat in this capacity? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Monitoring Smp machines
Hi Guys Most of our servers are smp machines (dual cpu's) How ever when setting up monitoring for this, expecially cpu utilization we are only able to see on graph is it possible in anyway to show results, values, or graphs for each cpu?
wmi user permissions
When setting up to monitor 2003 servers via wmi what permissions or group privileges does the account used for the wmi need access to? I have tested this under a normal domain user and it does not work, I have tested this under a domain administrators account and it is working So what permissions and settings does thee account require ? How ever due to security reasons I do not want the account that I am going to use to be a member of the domain group
Backup and Restore of the OpManager Database
Ok, I found the batch file that creates a backup of the database in OpManager. Program files/adventnet/me/opmanager/bin/backup/backupdb.bat I am assuming this creates a backup of the OpManager Database in case the database becomes corrupted. The problem I am having now is that I want to restore the database, so when I click the Restoredb.bat I get the error message that says the following: "Usage : RestoreBackup.sh [Backup file]" The system cannot find the path specified. Press any key to continue.

Is it possible to change the date and time a ticket is opened? I have several instances a day where I have an issue, but I am not able to immediately open a new request.

Release Port 80?
Can anyone tell me how I can release port 80 from within the OS (Server 2003)? I installed OpManager as a trial on a development server. I have since purchased the product and installed it on a permanent machine. However, I can not use any applications now on the development server that require port 80. I get a message that says port 80 is already in use by another application. There were only 2 applications that used port 80...OpManager and the one I am trying to start. OpManager uninstalled clean

Hi, Is there built in support for checking whether or not an NT service is up or not, on a remote box? I guess I could write a simple script to check whether or not the service is up and running and then use that from within a script monitor if there isn't. Simon
restore backup on another machine
hi all i installed the opmanager on a test machine and then installed it on a life machine, but when i took backup from the test machine and restore it on the other one i couldn't login although i login with the same user "admin". it says invalid user. how can i overcome this problem because it's important to take backup and restore it on another machine if the old one fails. ManageEngine is shutdown
Hi All There is a strange problem happens, while the opmanger is working good, suddenly the server is shutdown and a message appears asking me to change the port because it is occuppied by another application, and the server can't start again till i restart the windows.i tried many ports but the problem happens with them all, and i can't use the default port 80. will be happy with any reply Regards
import from AD
After importing users from AD (thanks to SP7), with wich user can I log on to have the admin rights ? Because after importing, when I try to log with admin/admin, the system told me "username or password is incorrect" ! What can I do ? I use ServiceDesk Plus with Service Pack 7! Grouping the technicians by their superior
I am not sure if this has been questioned before. In my department, I have several groups of technicians and each group has its own Supervisor/Superior. What I need is that respective Supervisor would be able to administer its own group only and shall not be allowed to view other groups requests. Is this in your plan? Thank you
