Database Clean-Up
Is there a simple way I clean-up my database? Remove entries prior to a certain date. My database is already 60GB and it takes a long time for the database/service to start. Also often the server stops collecting logs. I want to shrink the database and decrease the log retention size from 14 days to something smaller for now.

I am trying to get the JMX monitor to work through a firewall. I start the application with -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8303 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false When I try to connect with the JMX monitor it times out. It looks like it is also trying to connect on a random port in addtion to 8303 according to the firewall logs. I am told this is due to the rmi connection that JMX uses. And I need to use something like service:jmx:rmi://localhost:3000/jndi/rmi://localhost:8303/serve

In "Monitors > Sun Solaris > <SERVER>" view, I clicked on "Add New Process" and selected a process with "Process Name", smbd. There are >300 instances of this. The CPU utilization for smbd processes remains at 0% at all time! This is not the case if there is only ONE instance of the process running, i.e. the CPU utilization will be shown correctly. Is Applications Manager able to accumulate the CPU utilization for several instances of the same process? Thanks for this great tool though :D
Can't disable SQL alert
Hi, I am evaluating whether or not to purchase the OpManager SQL monitor. I am using OpManager to monitor a W2k3 machine with SQL 2005. I'm using the WMI SQL monitor to watch some stats. I am getting a lot of alerts about the MSSQL cache hit ratio. I've tried to adjust the threshold and have even removed that specific monitor, but still get notifications about it. What can I do? Setup done. Can't connect trough to SD
Hi I'm sitting with a problem. I'm testing SD to see if it will work for our company. The problem I have is that I have done all the settings in SD. Added users / pc's, assigned the users to the pc etc. If i start the client on the pc SD is installed it works 100%, but when I try and connect to that address from another pc on the network to log in as a user, I don't get the login screen. Do I need something like IIS installed on the pc or should the SD server work on it's own?? Your help with this

Inventory Filtering
I am trying to filter my inventory results using the RAM lesser than advanced filter and entering 256MB. This dosent work. It will show the same PC's everytime regardless of whether I use lesser than and enter: 256, 256MB, 256 MB even in bytes. Thoughts? Looks to me like it just dosent work.
MSSP model - How to use Kiwi Tunnel for multiple firewalls
I am new to the product and am having problems getting my monitored firewalls SYSLOGs back to the Firewall Analyzer. We monitor through IPSEC VPN which makes it difficult to get the SYSLOGs off of the Pixs. I was hoping someone could give me some pointers on how to do this with or without Kiwi. Thanks, Bryan
Some Authentication Problem - Error Code : 8002801d
I get this error whenever i add users and specify a home folder with a mapped drive in the profile. If its a bulk import, it will create the first user ok, then it will fail on the rest.

I'm passing the following URL: http://192.168.48.1:7001/momex/j_security_check?j_username=f9j3l1a8&j_password=kfdj876hfu%7H If I click directly onto the link within the HTTP(s) URLs monitor section, it renders the page and logs into the application. However, when it performs the test itself, the application throws an unsupported browser error. I tried passing the log in parameters through the Request Parameters (if any) to no avail. Response Times
Hi, would someone please clarify how exactly the response times are calculated for each type of monitoring in Applications Manager? What is the process involved? From what I've read, for Database servers the response time is the time taken by the Applications Manager to establish a JDBC connection to that database. For Services, the response time is the time taken to connect to the port, execute the given command and search the string. Could someone please provide the process involved for calculating

It works. But I cannot get any combination to work in AppManager. The windows event viewer monitoring is no longer working. It brings no results even though there is an application error log in an event viewer. Otherwise, the server monitoring works fine. The error log in the manageengine server has the following entry: mysql.user table is not updated to new password format; Disabling new password usage until mysql_fix_privilege_tables is run Any ideas? This is regarding Application manager v7. I have set up a WMI monitor for "Current Connections" in Win32_PerfFormattedData_W3SVC_WebService. I get a nice little graph with 6 hours of data, but I need to be able to look at longer term historical graphs as I can with all of the other devices, or as I could if I was using MS perfmon. router not showing up
My router is not showing up in the dashboard. I have verified that netflow is configured properly and flows are being exported via these commands: show ip flow export show ip cache flow No firewalls are blocking the traffic. I'm actually receiving flows from other routers already. It's just this new one I configured is not showing up. Any ideas? tcbonline

We want to upgrade our installation of service desk plu to the newest version. However, we also want to move it to better hardware and a different OS (currently on windows, want to move to Linux). Is there any good known way to make this migration/upgrade while keeping our data intact?
In and out totals not showing up in PDF exports
When I run a report and export it to PDF file the Total In and Out is blank.
Vista Compatability?
Any idea if this can run properly on Vista Business Enterprise edition? After the installation ( and several cancel/allow screens ) It will spawn and spawn without the app ever launching. Anyone got this running on Vista?
Encoding in outgoin e-mails
I wanted to know if there is any way to change the encoding used in outgoing e-mails, cause at the moment the Swedish characters that we send gets scrambled when the mail is opened in Hotmail for example. Other mail-clients may interpret the scrambled letters and "convert" it to the correct letter, but hotmail don�t, and most of our customers use hotmail as e-mail provider. I am evaling build 7300 of appmanager and discovered about 20 class C networks so far. I have many questions regarding the discovery process. Why doesn't it classify my linux servers that are running net-snmp? Where is the admin tool to put in my default snmp port/community string? How do I initiate a rediscover of a particular network? Parsing error while importing MIB file
Hi iam having problems importing a mib file into applications manager, iam recieving a parsing error ive checked that the mib file referenced is the same in both case and spelling but still i cannot load the file. I�ve also tried importing the same mib file in another mib browser, and ther it imports without any problems or errors. Newbie to SNMP
Hi there, Looking at OpManager MSP at the moment and want to see if it can monitor McAfee AntiVirus products. Alert Manager from McAfee can send SNMP traps out so I figure I can set something up but don't understand how SNMP works. My questions: Am I on the right track, and if so, what are the basic steps involved? (Don't worry about detail, it'd just be handy to know the very top level steps involved so I'll know if I'm heading in the right direction). Can anyone point me to a good website/guide/book
sFlow Early release Trial
Hi, I was invited to try the sFlow early release but can not get it to recognize the flow coming from my switch. We have an HP 5406zl I have enabled sflow on all ports and, when I sniff the network , I can see the sflow packets on the network. I am using a 2003 Server running in a VM - clean build - with opmanager as the only other major service running. Netflow says "No Router is currently exporting NetFlow packets to NetFlow Analyzer." Where do I look next? Mark
