generating my own reports
Hi, I want to know how to access the stats collected by opmanager so that i can create my own custom reports page, I only want to do basic things like the top 10 cpu,disk and memory utilization reports which opmanager does now. I'd just like to have it on its own page so everyone who wants to view them doesn't need access to opmanager. also this will allow me to provide comments on the reports to deal with high utilization. Any direction or documentation to help me with this is greatly appreciated
Restricting access to the Login Page???
Hi, I am just wondering what is the best way to secure the OpManager Login page. At the moment, it seems to be available to everyone... I have tried changing the ACLs on the folders under ME though the site still appears to everyone. Is there anyway to restrict access to the Login Page... Should I be looking for information on securing Tomcat? Apache? Thanks in Advance
Disabling Rediscovery
I wish to disable automatic rediscovery of networks. The setting will not allow this to be 0 or above 15. How can I disable this setting? Thanks Simon

Trouble adding standard WMI monitors (username/password)
Hi, I've just installed OpManager (latest version) on a 2003 box and adding WMI monitors for other 2003 servers on the network works fine as long as username is entered as hostname\username. We're NOT running a domain controller on the network. On the 2000 boxes, however, non of the WMI monitors work whichever permutaion of username/password I enter - I've tried hostname\username, hostname/username, username, etc. I've double checked that the services "Windows Management Instrumentation" "Windows
Can the CPU Usage alarm from OpManager 6 be copied into 5.6?
Good evening, I had recently upgraded to OpManager 6, however after an hour the system would just freeze and the web interface would die, requiring a reboot, which would last another hour, etc. Whilst using v6.0, i noticed that the CPU usage alarm also displayed the 3 most CPU intensive apps running. I would like to implement this in v5.6, whilst I am still attempting to get a stable copy of v6.0 running on a test PC. Is this possible? OpManager 5.6 EE (Probe and Central)
I am trying to use the OPmanager 5.6 EE with the PROBE Client. I installed Both Central And Probe on my local network (192.168.1.x) I discover Network, and everything went fine. Now I Install the Probe client only on a remote site connected to the network with a D-Link. I can access this remote site with xxx.dyndns.org. I try to discover the remote site, but I cannot specify a network (the system gives me an error). I therefore add a device specifying the xxx.dyndns.org address. The system accepts
null community and poll to unmanaged interface
Hello, We are evaluating the product with several routers. Two of them have hundred of subinterfaces and we put them unmanaged. With ethereal, we are seeing that opmanager is polling them to get bandwith utilitation... to ALL INTERFACES! With ethereal, we have seen that opmanager uses a null community string to poll and discover devices and it is detected by our IDS. Are they known errors? Thanks and regards Santiago Alvarez
SNMP Problem ?
Hello, We are using OPMANAGER 6.0 Free version and we have installed it on a Windows XP machine. We are monitoring WINDOWS NT 4.0 servers. On several servers it works other doesn't work. We have 1 server that can't get any SNMP information at all but when we do a SNMP Query in de MIB browser it get's the information. But when we add for example the CPU Utilization Resource MOnitor it can't even connect to the SNMP Service. What is the problem ??? we have checked the server and rebooted it but it
custom monitor
Hi, I am trying to setup a custom monitor on a server. I added the OID for the parameter, but is not gathering the data. Is it required to add the actual MIB file or just the OID? JEM

Probably a basic question but .... it is possible to create a custom "telnet" based monitor? I want to test for a process on a Solaris box. I see where custom SNMP monitors can be created but nothing for telnet based monitors. Thanks in advance.

Windows Service false alarm
I set up serveral Windows Service Monitors to my Windows Servers to monitor some services. All are up and running, but OpManager show me that one or more services are not up (for example Eventlog and lanmanserver). But they really are up. For other Windows services on the same device the monitor works correct. When I use "Add monitor" and then "Click [here...] to discover services from device." the Windows Services Eventlog and lanmanserver are showing correct as started.
Trial to Free Version and Keep Database and Config Settings
My intention was to install the free version, but it appears I installed the trial version or free version with trial components like AD monitoring. Now, it seems the trial version has expired. How can I install the free version and keep the configuration and data I setup with the trial version?

False Alarms for Services.
I've been getting a lot of false alarms for services recently. I've set it up so that I don't get notified till a device misses three polls, but there is no such option available to set a number of missed polls for services. I think this would be very useful. I hate waking up at 2 a.m. only to discover that the service is fine and for some reason just didn't respond to a poll. David.
Defragmentation
Hi All, Just wondering, We are having problems with Opmanager where the drive requires a routine defragmentation of the drive containing the database. Is there a good defrag program that Opmanager users can recommend that can keep the drive in good working order, without the need to stop all services to run Windows own defrag. ? The main issue is that the Hard disk is getting "Hammered" and thus prevents the database from being updated and causes slow performance when browsing from a remote pc. On

OPMANAGER and SQL
I am using a version 6.0 of OPMANAGER (I hape a version 5.5 that has been upgraded to 6.0) and would like to know how to change from MySQL to MSSQL. I have a MSSQL 2000. Any tips would be very welcome as my database using MySQL is not working properly. It seems that my indexes are getting a litle bit lost after the database reaches the size of 2GB. Hi, I just confused of how the OpManager monitor the switch. our switch (3com Superstack) has only 24 ports/interface on it but in OpManager, it shows 30 + ports/interface. why it happen and how to solve it? Please help!

License still not applying
I have tried the fix, but license still doesn't seem to apply properly. This is a brand new (ie. downloaded today) OPUtils install. I have only installed the fix and my build is 3223, I am hoping that is correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have already sent in the support files.
Asset detail not showing HD upgrade
Hi, I'm using Opmanager 6.0 One of my servers is showing 100% disk utilization. The reason for this is that we added extra HD capacity to the server but Opmanager doesn't reflect the change so actual disk usage exceeds HD capacity discovered at the very beginning. In OpManager version 5.6 the way to update asset details was through the java client on the server. On version 6.0 there is no java client, so how do I update asset detail? Wouldn't it be better to have this updated automatically when rediscover

How to monitor traffic?
Hello, We've had OpManager running for a week or so and now we have some baseline traffic graphs on our servers and switches. Today I went to setup some traffic notifications and I'm totally confused. - I would have liked to setup the monitors on the switch, but while you can view the traffic by port (at the bottom of the switch page) you can't seem to add an alarm/threshold. - If I choose "Interface Tx Traffic" under the traffic monitors of the switch it seems to show all the interfaces. Hey all. OpManager script keeps needing X Windows running in order to start, so I launch an X session and start it in the background. Closing my X session kills OpManager process. Any ideas? Thanks

I will try to keep the list as short as possible. 1.) where is MSSQL backend database support? 2.) As you tell a probe to discover a network and it finds a router, it queries the routers interfaces for thier network and subnet mask to allow for this network to later be activated and autodiscovered. Where do I find this discovered NEW network to tell it to autodiscover. CPU/Memory/Disk Dial on snapshot page

Cisco switch 3750 and too many ports
Hi! Customer is using cisco 3750 switch and there are 3 times 28 ports visible in OpManager. Names are: GigabitEthernet1/0/28 GigabitEthernet2/0/28 GigabitEthernet3/0/28 The othe thing is, that there is no data about trafic on this devices. Any hints to make it work? Majkl

I have 4 identical 6509's in anycast, 3 of them show the 'interfaces' section when their in the router infrastructure view. The other one I have to move to switches to see all the ports? Any ideas?
Trap processor not working
Hi, I am evaluating OpManager (v 6003). I'm getting unsolicited traps from a custom agent. I want them to be show has an alarm so I used the Trap Processor. After that, I'm not getting unsolicited traps from the agent, but I'm not receiving alarm either . What wrong? Thanks for your support.
enhancement request - availability reports
Hi Is it possible for the following enhancement request to be considered... When clicking into a servers availability, you get a today, yesterday, last 7 days etc view of availability, which takes into account the services monitored on the server. What would be nice to have would be the following.. 1) Show all monitored services on the server (eg ports, nt services) in this screen with relevant breakdown of up/downtime. Right now it just shows that the server was down for X minutes, but doesnt tell
Added Windows Service Monitor not showing green light
Hi, I have added the OpManager services on my OpManager server to be monitored and the green rectangle is not showing on my server map. All my other servers show the rectangle. Any ideas? Adrian.
Polling time
Hi I am currently trying out the software. I want to check the status of all our servers. But I dont want them to be pinged together affecting network trafic. I know that you can change polling interval but I want polling interval to remain same. I want to carry out polling at different times for different servers. Exactly what I want is this: Polling interval: 5 mins. But each server polling to be conducted at different times. Is this possible in opmanager. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,
