opmanager linux requires sendmail?
I'm trying to build a lightweight linux install for a network monitoring appliance. If I install opmanager on linux (fedora 4), is sendmail required? It seems to me I can specify an external mail server for opmanager to send alerts. I wanted to verify that.
Multiple device object referring to the same physical device
Is it possible to add the same physical device with multiple ip to different device objects(and device type) under OpManager? I mean, i've some multisite aggregate L3/L4 switches that have multiple vlan/ip and are running under OSPF; those switches are connected in a partial mesh using some other distribuition level switches and WiMax briges: the question is how can monitor (ping availbility) those distrubution switches using the different interfces VLAN/IP? Size popup-windows
Multiple popup-windows are to small for there content. The windows are not sizeable. We get the small windows when you are creating a report (device-popup), clicking on memory,cpu or disk-utilization. We are using Citrix with Windows 2003 and a classic windows-style.(IE6)
Switch Types
What type of switches can I monitor? Managed Switches only? Or can I monitor smart switches as well? How about brands? I have Netgear & 3 com switches and hubs here.
Exchange Server Monitoring
I have monitoring setup for our exchange server and under "Service Monitors" I Exchange, Web added to be monitored. Under "Application monitors" I have MsExchange added under there. Now my issue is that I am receiving alot of unnecessary alerts related to "Exchange service is down" as well as "Exchange service is up". Automated database backup to remote host
Hi there, Has anyone set up themselves a method to automatically transport a backed-up database file to a remote host? I am running OpManager on a Windows server, so obviously it's easy to schedule the BackupDB bat file to run every x days. However, as the database filename is never the same I'm open to some hints on how people have acheived automating the copy of the file elsewhere (in case the server blows up or some such!) I realise this is more a scripting-type query than a query related to OpManager

Reporting on Monitored Ports issue
Hi, We use switches with over 250 copper ports., i have configured OPmanager to monitor on the ports that have crucial devices attached : Servers , routers ETC. It would benifical if i could draw up a report that show availability, TX Traffic, rx traffic etc . At present if i do an availablility report, it reports on all ports regardlees if i have selected them or not Any ideas??

OpManager problem on Suse 9.2
Hello everybody, I have tested OpManager on Windows and it everything's ok.. Now I perform tests on Linux Suse 9.2... The installation seems to be ok.. At first, the installation guide says that we need some packages for installation on SuSE 9.2 like XFree86, fontconfig, compat-libstdc++... but these packages are not available for latest Suse si I could not install them...But the fact that these packages are not installed could cause what kind of problems ? Secondly, I can connect to http://localhost:8060/LoginPage.do
Microsoft SBS2003 Exchange SMTP Connector
Hi I am testing OpManager and have setup the exchange monitoring but the outbound SMTP monitor doesn't appear to work. I am using an SMTP connector to forward email an ISP smart host. Is it possible to monitor the SMTP connector or only the SMTP Virtual Servers? Thanks, Nathan

Monitoring SIP Provider
Hello, i want to monitor my SIP (Voice over IP) provider and have no idea how to do. Has anyone any ideas or is monitoring something like this succesfully? What i want to know is, if i am able to login to my SIP-Account with my VOIP-Client. I don�t want to check a port or login to a website! I want to know if the SIP-Server is accepting my login and i am able to make telephone calls. Is there anyone who have done that before? Greetings Peter
WMI CPU Utilization monitor at 97%
I have a server being monitored that is showing up as 97% CPU utilization. This is wildly inaccurate - the server is a simple domain controller that is used very little. The task manager shows the CPU as 98%idle and only 2% utilized. How can I fix this?
MapMaker console hangs on business view
How can I delete a business view without using the MapMaker Java console? I created a business view, but something went wrong in the creation (possibly because there is a space in the name?). Now when I go into MapMaker it defaults to that view and hangs the console? Any ideas? Thanks
Memory Graph in cisco 3745 router

Probe and sentral server sync error
Hi I have a probe and a central server om the same subnet but they cant agree if the services are up and running or down. On the probe the SMTP, WEB and DNS are just fine . But on the Central server the same services are reported as down. If I take a closer look on the service polling graf the service are in the left pan reported as down and at the rigth side the service uptime are just fine. See picture added.
OpManager MSP Scheduled Reports
Hi, I am testing OpManager MSP and the first thing I noticed is that the option for scheduled reports is not there. I checked both the Central Server and the Probes and could not find it under Admin - Tools, or anywhere else. Am I missing something or it just not there ?. Thanks
Maps Display Name
The title of my device gets cut short in the Maps Tab. Home Page > Click "Maps" > Select View Details So for example I see this. TX-Servername-... (full name is: TX-Servername-28) TX-Servername-... (full name is: TX-Servername-29) TX-Servername-... (full name is: TX-Servername-30) TX-Servername-... (full name is: TX-Servername-31) TX-Servername-... Difference between Reports and Schedule Reports
Dear support, Last week I started to use OpManager Reports which might be very useful for the overview of my network. But I have found a few things which are not very clear to me. When I go to tab REPORTS->SERVERS->All Servers Disk Usage Report everything looks fine. All partitions are sorted by devices, which is very good and the values are correct. difference OpManager Pro / OpManager MSP
Good afternoon, I would like to understand to major differences between normal version and MSP. I know the principle of MSP lays on a central server and several probes in order to monitor your customers but with the normal version of OpManager, can't you do it? OpManager Freezes On DB Change
I have gotten around to installing OpManager on windows 2003 sp1 and everything works fine from the initial install but when I switch the DB from MySQL to MSSQL it will startup to a point then freeze up. When I try to put it back to MySQL it freezes up too. I have uninstalled and reinstalled OpManger a couple of times and cannot get it to work after the DB change. I made sured I installed the hotfixes before doing the switch when I did the reinstall but no luck. It creates the MSSQL database when

Problem with msp

How can i get OpManager to correctly show the switchport descriptions and the mac addresses on my switches, even the switch port mapper doesnt seem to do it. If i use the oputils its switchport mapper actually works, but still does not list the port descriptions. I have 8 cisco switches and this is a critical element. thank you

UCD MIBs for Checkpoint Firewall installed on Windows
Hi All I am writing management plugin for Checkpoint Firewall and get information from firewall through SNMP call . I am able to get value for RFC1213mibs & other checkpoint mibs from firewall installed on Windows. Not able to reterive details from UCD mibs. I am able to retrieve UCD mibs if Checkpoint Firewall installed on Linux,Solaris. But not able to get if firewall on Windows. Do anybody have solution. Thanks -Ariram

False Positives
Since purchasing OpManager I've been getting a TON of "false positives" on a different array of devices. When I go into the device map I can Update Status and it clears up. If I don't do anything the error typically clears up in about a half an hour. I can't figure out what's wrong. Anyone else experience this issue? Or, have any advice?
